Great book! I had a copy and lent it out and it didn't make it back home and I've really missed it. I realized that I often went back to the book and looked up specific info from time to time and that it had become an important part of my personal "reference library". So glad to have a copy again! Although the book was written years ago, the info in it is timeless. I highly recommend this book if you have health issues, spiritual issues, or just want a new perspective to consider..
This is a great book. Myss explains how she got into this field and how she approaches energy medicine. I bought this book because I knew energy medicine would influence my private practice and certain clients were open to these concepts. I was right. My clients ate this book's concepts up and now love Myss. I was pleased to see how Myss discusses psychological stresses/beliefs that become or influence areas of the body. Myss has an incredibly complex, rich abstract mind that melds together different thoughts of system. She consistently demonstrates how the Hindu chakras, Christian sacraments, and Kaballah's tree of life -are similar. According to her, everyone must pass seven stages of development to reach higher consciousness and spiritual maturity. In it she asks some probing questions at each stage of development. People who don't like this book are not open to how connected we are to our spirit and the divine. I loved it. I recommend it to anyone searching their soul and trying to improve themselves as a person.
I don't blindly accept or blindly deny what I haven't experienced first hand, but all this new-ageish energy healing stuff is very overblown. When someone says that there is an essential center of the body that is responsible for all disease processes (the fifth chakra), I have to be rational and be a critical thinker about it. Now I have experienced some strange things. And I know that the money isn't there to conduct the proper studies on alternative healing. But they don't have to keep on making unfounded claims, and deny modern medicine/psychology. I found Eastern Body, Western Mind to be a much superior reinterpretation of the eastern body centers. Although more about psychological/spiritual healing and not so much energy healing.
