One of the most inspiring books I've ever read! Arnold proves to each and every one of us, that human will-power is capable of performing wonders, even under the most difficult circumstances. Virtues, such as perseverance, patience, dedication, decisiveness and above all hard work towards a specific goal are strongly emphasized and praised, simply because that's the only way anybody can achieve their dreams. The word "cannot" should not be in anyone's vocabulary, and this is not just theory, this comes from a man who started from zero and made it all the way to the top of the world! This book extends far beyond the world of sports and relates 100% to our everyday lives. Half autobiography, half training manual, this book must find its way to everybody's library!

I would highly recommend this book for anybody who has aspirations of getting into bodybuilding, getting into fantastic shape or learning about the mind of the man, when he was a bodybuilder. The amazing thing about this book is that every time I reread it, I seemed to pick up something new that I didn't recall before. That's to say, there are lots of lessons packed - how to overcome obstacles, how to overcome defeat, how to win, and how to be honest. It comes across as an honest story, with a bit of panache to make it a bit more exciting, ala Arnold. Classic Arnold. He's a pretty good writer, and its entertaining enough.

The book is split into two sections. The first section is the autobiography. The second is a fairly detailed explanation of putting together a training routine. Keep in mind, that this was written in the seventies. So you aren't going to get a modern overview of supplements. But what you will get, is an affordable way of putting together a training regimen, using basic principles. For example, there is a section which explains how you can work out at home, using chairs, a broomstick, and your own body weight. I like this explanation of training - which suggests that you can get in wonderful shape, without requiring too much supplementation or fancy gym equipment.

I personally thought it was definitely worth the money many times over.

This item was a gift for someone starting out to working out and diet. They were very happy to recieve this item. It breaks down all the muscle groups and explains logic on how a certain excerise will work effecively.

A very inspiring read. Anyone interested in bodybuilding should read this book. The first half is about Arnold's life after he started working out. The second half of the book is a weightlifting routine that isn't the best, but still not bad.

Overall, I give the book 5/5 stars. I will definitely by reading this again sometime in the future.

This is absolutely amazing read. I'm sure a lot of people admire the tenacity of powerful athletes but this just goes beyond anything I've read. Grant it it's not Nietzche yet with a weird twist it is. These guys weren't just muscleheads who grunted they actually had/have brains. Reading, analyzing, discussing while working out doesn't get much better than that. Whether you're a bodybuilder or not this book will inspire you to push yourself a little more.Excellent book.
