The chemistry, the suspense, the fun and the not at all what you expected ending is what makes this book a total keeper. But I have to warn you...it'll drag you in before you know it and every chore you had planned to do will be thrown by the wayside...Enjoy!!!

I loved this book! It has explicit sex scenes, however... beware if that's not your thing. The characters have sex and then fall in love, not the usual way around. If you think this will bother you, then try something else. It worked for me, though. I appreciated the tension and found the characters believable and fun.
If you are looking for an entertaining, humorous, and slightly frivolous book, give this a try!
Enjoy! |

"Too much secondary characters..." | 2009-05-13 |

I liked "Bet Me" far better than this story. I have to admit that I skipped a lot of pages due to that I was bored with the story plot and the secondary characters. I don't like reading about secondary characters. I like a story to stick to the main couple and not stray from the romance being taken place.
My Star Definition: 5 star- Best Recommended - my favorites and definitely a must to add 2 your collections 4 star- Really captured my interest 3 star- It was an ok book... at least he didn't cheat or have "affairs" with other women 2 star- BORING; skipped too many pages or he was a jerk; Or it had not much romance between the characters 1 star- hero cheats or has affairs with other women; no happy ending; he marries another woman |

Welcome to Temptation is a fun, fast read. It starts off with a BANG (sisters Sophie and Amy are cruising into small town Temptation, Ohio to make a short film when they have a fender-bender with a local socialite couple), provides plenty of BELLY-LAUGHS when we get to watch local city council meetings (our Hero, Phin, is a fourth-generation mayor and expected to keep winning elections to preserve the family name but sees the silliness in trivial town politics) and with all the flirting around the movie set, we get plenty of BADDA-BING (including more than one scorcher between Sophie and Phin). Mysteries abound: Who offed the starlet's scummy despised-by-all ex husband? Who's threatening Sophie and trying to kill her? Who attempted to frame her for the murder? Is Phin's mother a really nasty piece of work who'll end up Bad Guy #1, or is she just an overprotective mom with her own plans for his love life?
The characters totally pulled me in and the story kept me entertained. This was one of those books that really interrupted my life. I had a hard time putting it down to do anything (including sending Jennifer Crusie an email to tell her how awesome it is, which totally delayed my race to the finish, but I think is important. Surely even a successful author still loves to hear when readers enjoy her work!).
This book is a borderline KEEPER -(I'll probably send it along to very trusted friends who I know will return it, but I'll make sure to get it back. Or else.) / GET YOUR OWN COPY -A book you love so much, no way are you loaning it out. Worthy of high praise and frequent recommendations - but trust me, if you let someone borrow this one, they'll "forget" to return it. Don't miss the next title by this author.

"One of my top 2 by Jennifer Cruise" | 2008-11-20 |

One of my top picks by Jennifer Cruise, with the other being "Anyone but You".
Set in a small town in Southern Ohio (named "Temptation") where 2 sisters (with a con-man for a father) and a has-been actress Clea, come to film a short movie of questionable content. Sophie's the older(age 32), uptight, responsible sister who raised her younger sister Amy, age 25 and is still taking care of her. Sophie catches the attention of the Phin, the mayor and local bookstore owner, who seems to have relationships with women that are strictly physical . The story of Sophie and Phin is very hot to say the least while the two get involved with no expectations for any type of future relationship.
There's a whole group of people from the town(and out of town)that make this a fun story and make for a great cast of characters. Leo- the Porn King movie Producer, Rachel - the 20 year old who wants out of small town life, Wes - the sweet town cop, Dill - Phin's 9 year old daughter, Steven - a spiteful mayoral candidate, Frank - an old love of Clea's and his flighty/jealous wife Georgia, Phin's uptight, snobby mother, Zane - the gold digger husband of the actress....Davey, the sweet con man brother of Sophie and Amy - and the list goes on.
Family ties, checkerd pasts, mystery, murder, politics, the game of pool. This story has lots to hold your interest and is a real page turner. I listened to the audio version and couldn't turn it off and made a great addition to my audio libary.
This is a great story that keeps you guessing and possess the typical charm and humor that Jennifer Cruise always has in her books.
"Faking It" is another Jennifer Cruise book that takes place 3 years after this one and features Sophie and Amy's brother Davey. If you want to catch up a bit with a couple of these characters, check out "Faking It". Also, Davey's a much more enjoyable character knowing about his connection to his family. |
