"Great PS 2 Game" | 2009-05-18 |

| Like some of the others who wrote reviews here, I belong to the older crowd [ that is over 30 as far as the kids are concerned]. I bought this some time ago and fell in love with it. I enjoy playing the different characters and using the powers unique to to each individual, as that changes the style of combat to be used to go through the battles. The music is enjoyable also and changes in the different levels. All in all, for me this is a game I will enjoy playing for a long time. |

I saw this and bought it because it was multiplayer and seemed like an adventure game. Well, I was disappointed to say the least. I don't know anything about the original Gauntlet, so all I had was my initial impressions: 1. You can't upgrade or change weapons, which makes gameplay rather boring. 2. The levels were tedious and redundant; just killing and killing..and killing. And occasionally figuring out where to go and solving "puzzles." I put it in quotes because it involved pulling levers here and there and sometimes using keys selectively. 3. The graphics are EXTREMELY low-end. Compared with other adventure games, these graphics remind me of a Super NES...which is rather sad, actually. 4. The magic items you find can only be used once. Thus, you can't upgrade magic skills or retain anything worthwhile.
In short, for someone who has played well-crafted co-op games like Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance and Obscure: The Aftermath, this game is utter crap by comparison. It's not really worth the money unless you are a die-hard Gauntlet fan. |

I very much enjoyed this game. I used to play on the GameCube but when I moved I gave the game and system to my grandchildren. So I bought the PS2 version after moving. I enjoy this game mainly because 4 people can play together which makes it something the family can play together. It isn't super difficult to beat the boss monsters so it is more enjoyable.
I would recommend it. |

"Up right Arcade comes to the PS2" | 2007-03-24 |

| I first played this at our truckstop arcade, after that when I found out they had it on the PS2 I went nuts, it's wonderful and if you have a multi-tap a damn good party game, while it's no longer 'printed' I love playing as often as possible with as many friends as I can, and if you each make a file name whenever everyones not around you can still power up YOUR character, there are a total of 16 warriors with male/female equals. 8 Basic and then 8 more that you have to unlock that are powerful forms of the first ones. My personal Favorites are the Wizard/Soceress and the Archer. Their more powerful forms are fun too, but I won't tell what they are. ;D getta copy and find out for yourself |

"Great game" | 2006-12-20 |

| I got this game for Christmas 2 years ago, and I love it. I don't play video games all that much as a mom. But every now and then, I need to sit down and lose myself in a good game and kill a bunch of monsters. This game has lots of levels, some of it is bizarre with lots of monsters to kill and hack away at. I enjoy playing this game with the kids and they enjoy it too. I was really bummed when I finally finished all the levels. If you like role playing where you get to kill a bunch of gross monsters, this is one for you. |

| First of all, you have to play this game with others. It just isn't fun by yourself. Some of the highlights are the voices (which are absolutely comical) and the physical transformation of the characters as they increase in levels. The action is intense at times, and with all of the hidden extras, the replay value is very high. The only downsides are that the characters can be hard to control at times, and when you play with too many people, the screen gets very cramped and it is almost impossible get anywhere. But all in all, this is a great game to play with a bunch of friends. |
