"A new reason to get out the game cube, sit down with some soda and play." | 2009-11-09 |

I have played this game before once and I did beat it it took about a week and a half so lots of playing time. it's a pretty fun game that will give anyone for ages 6 to 100.
Controls: The controls are pretty easy to use once you use them once or twice. Moving is even easier like in a lot of games. All you have to do is move the left control stick on the game cube romote and thats it.
Graphics: the graphics are a little rough but they are pretty good over all for the game. The only flaw in them is that you can't really see whats water and whats dirt so you sometimes drown a pikmin or two. T_T
Gameplay: The game has a good story *a fast over view* you crash land on a planet and you have to find enough parts in 30 day while taking care of your pikmin.
Monsters: okay this is one of the places where the game, graphics and controls shine. As for graphics on the monsters it's really good lots of details in the eyes body and actions. As for the controls they are fun and help thumb mussels. The different types of monsters is amazing each one being different and being cooler then the last.
Pikmin: The pikmin are so cute and are amazing. Some can breath in water while others can run around in fire while even more can throw bombs at things. 0.o Also the graphics on them are amazing.
Pros: Has cute pikmin and monsters, is something new and fun to play, has fun mind busters to solve and makes for a small challange for people.
Cons: You only have 30 days to finish, can't really see the water, some of the monsters are kind of hard and it takes forever to pick the pikmin out of the ground.
Over all it's a really good game for anyone.

"This game is junk!" | 2009-09-09 |

This game is weird and frustrating. The gameplay is so stupid! You run around making a bunch of weird creatures called Pikmin do all the work. The rest of the time you spend is solving uncreative puzzles, fighting enemies that will probably kill you, and trying to get more pikmin. This game has no business being called one of the best games on gamecube, no business at all!
Good Things
- Nice graphics and sound, not great.
Bad Things
- Simply put, stupid gameplay.
- Boring puzzle solving.
- Frustrating and/or boring overall.
- Over a dozen nit-picks and minor problems that all add up.
Presentation- 62/100
It certainly doesn't make you too excited to play the game!
Graphics- 80/100
Graphics are... proficient.
Sound- 74/100
Decent sound to go with nice graphics.
Gameplay- 33/100
Unbeleivably boring, stupid, and frustrating!
Innovation- 71/100
Sure it's unique and new, but can something that sucks so much really get a high score in innovation?
Replay Value- 22/100
I wouldn't even rent this game.
Overall- 35/100
Like most brand-new series started from 1996-present, it sucks! |

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST GAMES I HAVE EVER PLAYED!!!!! Don't listen to the people who say it has tons of flaws, because it doesn't.
Let's start with the graphics. I really couldn't believe that I was actually seeing the TV. The water would pass for real-life water for someone who has 20/20 vision. I'll admit that the land (neutral grass, not the kind that gives you golden blobs)leaves a little to be desired, but the creatures, the Pikmin, even Olimar himself are Video Game Masterpeices. If you're a sucker for graphics, then this is the game for you.
The controls are very simple, and easy to get used to. A to throw Pikmin(Or do a small punch if you don't have any Pikmin at your disposal) B to call Pikmin to you and the Control Stick to move around. Sadly there is no jump, but that would make the game very cheap and not challenging at all.
Gameplay is awesome. It's hilarious to see your enemies die and shrivel up as your army of Pikmin swarms them. Then you carry them back to camp to be "divided up and reproduced into more Pikmin". True to some of the reviews that said it, some Pikmin do straggle behind the group, but as soon as they see everyone leaving without them, they scramble to get back.
The only minor flaws and inconveniences are 1)The 30-day limit, though I think it just makes the game more challenging. They could've given you at least 40 days. 2)The game is already very challenging without the 30-day limit. Some of the creatures take an entire minute to kill, and some of the parts are REALLY hard to get. 3)It would help a ton if they also gave you a little more time during the day, too.
Overall, this is probably the best game I have ever played, and I'm going to stick with it until I beat it (I've only gotten to the 3rd level). |

This game is one of those few gems when it comes to video gaming. It has all the right formula for a good game, and it well over delivers. From the fact that the music is usually very calm, and the characters colorful, and the idea simple and unique.
The reason why I rated this a 4 (4.5 technically) instead of a 5, is simply the 30 day restriction. I would of loved to explore the places, to just gather as many Pikmin I could and throw them at every foe each day, but the limit on time made it seem more like a rush then a experience.
Even with this though, it's one game I believe everyone should play at least once. The series is fantastic, as the second installation actually fixed this time problem. All in all, a must buy. |
