"Good, but not nearly as good as I thought..." | 2006-03-21 |

I bought this game last summer, and have played all the way through it. With that said, here's what I think... I love Yu-gi-oh! I've played the card game, read the manga, and have even watched the TV show. I really like the story of Yugioh, and I enjoy playing the card game from time to time, but since it's hard to find someone who wants to duel with you I figured I'd buy one of the many Yu-gi-oh video games. After reading all of the reviews on all the available games, I chose this one because it's a GBA game so I can play it on the go just like the real card game, and because... Well, I'd hate to sound stupid, but c'mon...the name of the game just sounds so cool! But sadly, this game isn't so cool after all... Although this game does follow the offical rules for the yugioh trading card game, and there are many assorted duelists from the TV show to duel with, there are still many problems with it which I will list below.
Pros: Game follows the offical rules of the game. Has many of the duelests from the TV show. Contains over 1,000 of the offical game cards, including the rare ones. Text can be changed from English to Spanish (Espanol), French (Francais), German (Deutch), Italian (Italiano), and Japanese. And it follows the awesome story of the TV show/manga.
Cons: The game glitches out whenever you play a card that requires the role of dice. Almost all of the duelists have the same powerful cards, cards that they dont actually have! Since when does everyone have cards like Raigeki, Summoned Skull, Dark Hole, and Slate warrior?! Odion is almost impossible to beat without the Jinzo card or the Royal Decree card! Forget about using your own deck in the game because unless you have an incredible deck of cards, with lots of monters over 2500 attack points! Monster cards have no animation when on the field, and you know what that means... You dont get to see your monsters breathing fire or casting spells at your enemy's monsters! And no Egyptian God cards exist in this game!
Final thoughts: I didn't snap the game in half and throw it into the garbage! I was testing it's durability, and I placed it into the garbage because it's garbage and I thought it should be with it's family. Hahahaha! :^D *Just kidding!* Honestly though, I just didnt enjoy playing this game even half as much as I thought I would. I recomend that you buy another one of the Yu-gi-oh games. Yu-gi-oh: Forbidden memories, Eternal duelist soul, and duels of the roses are all good choices. Otherwise, you're better off just buying a Starter Deck and dueling with your friends or siblings.

Hey its Dark X... I will make a quick reveiw and a detailed reveiw depending on the mood you are in.
Quik-N-EZ reveiw: - Great graphics - Great gameplay - Link-able - Awesome and valuable promo cards - You can build a deck - Do many dueling challanges - Go to tournaments Great overall!
Detailed Reveiw: In this game, you can duel and unlock other duelists. They are skilled and dont just play any random card. Each time you win, you win a booster pack. You can construct a deck with the cards you have in the game. If you have a Gameboy connection cable, you can vs. your friends and trade. They have tournaments in the game which require you to duel on a certain condition like only usaing monsters, using no effect monsters, only using monsters with low attack, and more fun tournament. In order to beat the game you must complete the rare hunter challenge, all the tournaments, beat all the duelists, and more. The graphics are great and this game uses the correct card rulings. The game comes with 3 overly used and abused promo cards. Valkerion the Magna Warrior which can stay at a whooping 3500 ATK or have 3 monsters with 1400-1700 ATK power and it is good because you can use in a situation you need a powerful monster or a situation you need 3 monsters (quantity or quality when you need it) Rating: 3/5. Sinister Serpent which goes back to your hand on a standby phase it is in your graveyard meaning, you can use it for plenty discarding costs, infinite defense, metamorphasis, ultra evolution pill, and hundreds of more combos Rating: 5/5. Harpie's Feather Duster which can blow away all of the opponent's magic and trap cards meaning, getting rid of threats and has no cost Rating 5/5. The cards sell for about 70 bucks together and the game is priceless. WORTH THE VALUE!

| I liked this game alot (LIKED cuz my GBA SP was stolen and i had to sell all my games for it) because it actually goes by the real rules. I like to play the card game so this was very good practice 4 me. i just didn't like it that the card sets only went up to LOB. other games like forbidden Mem. dont go by the actual card game rules, and that bothered me alot. that is why i liked this game. |

The game is very well in graphics. However, the music is very very very repetitive. The promos are great! If you need good promos, and you have a GBA or GBA SP, get this. It's worth the money.
Valkyron the Magna Warrior 1/5 Almost impossible to summon. Gate Guardian is impossible to summon.
Sinister Serpent 5/5 No comment. Too good.
Harpies Feather Duster 5/5 One word: Staple. One word: Forbidden. |

If you like the Yugioh card game and own a GBA but do not own this game, go buy it. NOW. Stop reading this review and but it, darnit! Seriously, this is the apex of Yugioh games. With a plethora of cards at your disposal, an fliud, well-thought out duel system that follows the actual rules to a tee, and clever variations on dueling in the form of random tournaments, make this game a must have for any fan. The 3 promotional cards that come with the game are also a immense bonus (Valkyrion the Magna Warrior, Sinister Serpent, and Harpie's Feather Duster). Heck, even casual fans can get into the game and have fun. All in all, this game is a purchase no Yugioh fan will regret. |
