This is one of my favorite portable systems! ok. so it's not a handheld like
the DS. but who cares? it's an old system and no new games are being made. like I said, Who cares? I already have a gray ps1,slim ps2,and psp. I always wanted to play my ps1 games on a portable system. you can use a ps3 to put ps1 games on psp,but you need a psp, and I can't afford one. so I looked around. and I found this! My parents bought it. along with a battery to bust
those crappy power cords away while i'm playing. the minute I got this,I was playing like crazy! I showed my friends and they loved it.
so if you want to play ps1 games anywhere (almost) then buy this! |

| I found this system to be far better than the PSP, despite its clunkiness. If you don't want to blow $300 on the PSP, just get this. It's about the size of a large CD player, and pretty portable. |

The psone with monitor was ahead of its time. If Japan had made a movie card for the smaller psone, one might have been able to watch video cds on it, audio cds, and play playstation games that only cost 5 dollars a piece at gamestop. I think if they had made the extra effort and built one for the smaller psone(since the japanese psone movie card plays on both the older American and Japanese psone's), you could get a bigger version of the psp for half the cost. Still, the psone with monitor has alot of appeal to gamer fans. I give this product four and a half stars. |

| Put one in every room in the house! Portable and perfect, now you can have the enormous PS1 catalog in a teeny tiny package. There are plenty of features (see most other reviews), but I most appreciate the ability to toss a few games and a controller in a bag with the PS One and Screen combo and take it anywhere. The games look terrific on the small screen, and the whole thing fits easily into a backpack (or a large purse if you swing that way). |

| Great combo, light, easy to use. The screen made all those bad PlayStation graphics disappear! Wonderful color and resolution, just not the best when viewed from all angles. I played games such as Quake II, Final Fantasy VII and Diablo and the graphics were smooth without jaggies like on a regular TV. Tricked me into thinking it was PS2 and not old PS. Plus you can read all text nice and clear in RPG's and such. Headphone jack too for good quality sound although speakers arn't too shabby. Plays CD's and PlayStation Games (that's a lot). The PSOne and screen is great for trips and such. If you buy this item I would recommend: 1. PSOne Car Adapter - Makes device Portable. Plugs into any cigarette-type outlet in car, even to socket on airplanes (check below your seat next time)! 3. PSOne Island Blue Dual Shock Controller (Awesome color) 2. PlayStation Memory Card (Light Gray or Island Blue) 4. PSOne Deluxe Carrying Case (Made by various companies) 5. 1/8" (Headphone jack type) Camcorder Stereo A/V Cable (Ask for at any Radio Shack, they will have it. This is ALL you need to hook up a DVD Player, VCR, etc. to the screen's AV IN. You don't need any PS2 cables or whatever described in another review.) |

"What's the point of getting this "outdated" system?" | 2002-06-12 |

| I always wanted to get this combo deal since I saw how small it is. However, I was pulled back by its price and the fact that I own two PS2(domestic/import) and one universal original PlayStation. Seriously, it will be a total waste of money to get another PSOne. I guess, however, the timing was everything. After I read one of the reviews, which was written wholeheartedly, on the day Sony announced price drop ..., gave me enough push to get this combo deal. Am I satisfied? Yes, definitely. First of all, I would like to tell you how crispy and vibrant the graphic is. I couldn't believe how much of insane quality graphic this small screen was able to squeeze out, you gotta see for yourself to believe. I was totally amazed by the quality, which I didn't expect at all. If I have to point out something negative, it would have to be this 'angle' you have to adjust for maximum viewing. It's like this big projection tv, where you have to sit and look at it from certain angle to avoid strange glare. My other complaint has to be the length of the power cord, it's on bit short side. But trust me, that's a really minor thing, really. How about sound quality? I would have to say it's more than enough to fully enjoy your game in everyway you can think of. Not only it lets you use headphone, but also you can control your volume as well. Of course, it doesn't provide like surround system or dolby digital/dts quality sound, but I don't think any of PSOne games support that anyway (may be except Final Fantasy series with dolby surround). The strange thing is that I began to play all those PSOne games I didn't care to play before. I guess I'm sort of like a selective gamer, who plays games till the end when and only I find them worth playing till the end. However, this thing is so cute and so, so... WONDERFUL, it enchants those "worthless" games more "worthwhile", really, there's nothing like playing "less" worth games right before bed time.. I've been carrying it to library to play during break time or workplace. It's very portable too. I am a big shooter fan and I replayed Striker 1945. The good thing was that import version supports arcade screen, which let you play as it is in arcade, typical vertical shooter. That's impossible with normal tv because you are not gonna put your tv on side way to play vertical shooter as it is, are you? However, all you have to do with PSOne was just rotate the whole thing, and there you go, you can play Striker 1945 vertically, as it is!!! You might say what's the big difference, it's just little sacrifice on the side with normal screen. Trust me, it makes a big difference especially for games like Striker 1945. (by the way, I found out that domestic version doesn't have that arcade screen support, doh!) Now, to conclude this, I need to answer this one question: was it worth buying another system you own when the only difference is the size and this little screen? My answer is definitely YES and I just don't know why, but playing games on PSOne screen makes tremendous difference, don't know why but that's way it is. Now, you can play your RPGs or even Fighting games (Street Fighter Alpha 3 looks GOOD!) while you are in the bed... Wow...what can you ask for more when you have this sturdy system with high quality mini screen? Trust me, you are getting what you are paying for. GET IT TODAY!! |

"PSone w/ LCD is GREAT!!! Especially for roadtrips." | 2002-06-04 |

| I don't own one yet, but i have played on one w/ the LCD screen, and it's quite AWESOME!!! Graphics are GRAND!!! And there's a plethora of games for the system, as Sony is still making them, unlike Sega's Dreamcast...so you aren't limited. Size is great, nice and compact. And if you're an extreme gamer like me, you can play this in your car!!! Awesome for roadtrips especially if you have kids that are like, "Are we there yet dad?" that say that a million times... So the kids can play in the car. All you need is the car adaptor, which isn't included like Eppy said... I made the mistake of buying a Dreamcast first... I am now trading it in for a PSone with the LCD, mostly cuase they got tons more games that i like, and also, i don't have to worry about buying a tv for it, or hooking it into my pc monitor. Also if you get the LCD screen, it's better then a TV. Better graphics, and you don't have to worry about the system blowing out your tv in 1-2 yrs cuase you'll have the LCD. Great buy/value, great price. You can get a PS2, Xbox, or Gamecube for $149-$200, but they don't have an LCD yet... if you do go with those, they can hook into a VGA monitor as will a PSone, but you're better off just getting it with the LCD. Hope this review helped ya. Happy Gaming! |

"Great item" | 2002-05-21 |

| This monitor/game console combo has great advantages. One, it does not have to tie up the television. Kids can play the game anywhere in the house where there is an outlet. With a car adapter it can be taken on the road for long road trips. A couple precautions might be considered. The small screen will effect some games, but not many so that the reading of small print is difficult. The monitor can be an eyestrain with overly extended use. The monitor/game counsel comes with a warning, as do all standard game counsels that extended game play can cause seizures. It's not common, but what is common is the normal strain one might experience on the eyes when being on a computer for many hours. The game can cause this eyestrain because characters are small and one gets best fun holding it up close to the viewing area. I highly recommend this item for convenience, but not for the standard gaming arrangement in the household. Learning games for children will be more interactive on a normal TV screen. |

"Sony Does It Again! Perfect Alternative Console!" | 2002-03-29 |

| Even though I own all of the current day systems (Gamecube, Xbox, Playstation, Playstation 2, Game Boy Advance), I really wanted this for some reason. I gave my old PS to my little brother, and went out and bought this exact thing from my [local store]. I was immediately impressed with that I saw (next to the hideous green color of the box). The system and the LCD screen licensed by Sony came already connected, so you don't have to hassle with it to attach it; it already is. Above all, the screen that comes with it is the official one licensed by Sony, which is the only one I'd ever use. I've heard horror stories of how the other screens don't work right and burn out. The screen (Liquid Crystal Display) is the best I've ever seen. For only about 5", I had absolutely no problem even playing my RPG's like Final Fantasy VII and Tales of Destiny in it. If you're worried about visibility, don't be, because you can adjust the contrast, and the speakers, although small, provide an impressive display of sound. The headphone jack in the back is nice to plug in a headset and play without disturbing anyone. The LCD screen, shuts snugly and firmly over the lid of the PSone. I didn't believe how small the PSone was, but now that I have one, it really is amazing how tiny it is, yet how strong it is. The only fault I see in this package is two things: For one, the cord that plugs into the wall is short in my opinion, which limits your mobility substantially unless you have the battery pack, which, too, is sold separately. The other problem is that the car adaptor, alas, does not come with this package. I have had a hard time finding one up here, but I live in Upper Michigan, so it's hard to find anything up here. The car adaptor would've been a nice extra for this package, but would've boosted it's price up ..., which it retails for. Overall, if you're not ready to buy a PS2 or GameCube (which also has a screen available), and you're looking for a nice system with power for someone, this is a nice choice. And if you don't want the LCD screen, you can purchase the PSone only for a nice [price], which is a nice buy as well, but I'm very happy with this LCD screen, it works like a charm. (It can be removed by the way) |
