| This was the first book I read a few years ago, and is what got me started in what has become a great deal of reseach on the topic on ancient civiliztions and lost technologies. His work is well put together with accuratly stated facts and references. This editon is good start but the new edition has an expanded and more current findings. His other books Heaven's Mirror and Underworld expand on this book as well as explore new areas of reseach. |

| For anyone interested in what is known about our long and somewhat lost history and wants to read about it in one concise text, this is the book. Many references to additional texts are also cited. In my opinion, this is an excellent book! |

This book is similar to Sitchin's "Earth Chronicle" series condensed into one book. The author shows similarities beyond coincidence in megalithic construction, mythology, knowledge and society structure of known civilizations living in diverse parts of the word.
It was as though some advanced race of beings was responsible for imparting their knowledge to the Incas, Mayans, Egyptians and others, who were merely the benefactors of these gods' legacies. But the questions the book ponders is where did they come from, and how come they only left behind nothing more than a few "fingerprints?" Was there a major cataclysm that destroyed them, and if so, are we due for another one?
It may be over 500 pages, but the book is an easy read, and does a great job of explaining mathematical concepts like precession is easy to understand terms. |

I got hooked- Because of this book I have gone on to read many others. It opened up a whole new world for me. Every so often I'll pick it up and read a few chapters and find myself inspired all over again. Its almost like what Robert Bauval said about the Great Pyramid, 'You want to find out. This is the power of the thing.' |

| Captivating evidence and insights, too numerous to dismiss as coincidence, on the events of past ages and civilisations. I have not found any divergent facts anywhere that contradict or negate the evidence in Graham Hancock's book. Whatever form the next end of civilisation takes, it is credible and plausible that it will come to pass. To totally ignore the evidence may be convenient, but it would be best to hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. We are after all, a species out of harmony with each other and relations are worsening, between people and nature... |

I don't typically read books filled with historical facts, mathematical correlations, etc as they usually are rather dry. I found this book to written in such a style that I could read it and not fall asleep. I love how he discusses his travels and findings as if you are reading his journals. It makes it very reader friendly.
I am now more aware of other sources that are leading to similar conclusions. Just today, I was talking about this book and a show about Nostradamus and how things seem to be merging together. Hancock does not mention Nostradamus but the predictions of events from him are similar to the Mayans. How can that be? Read this book and you may be opened to the wonders of the world and what might be happening. |
