| I used this to make character T's for my son. I found I had to adjust my ink settings on my printer to get the best finished product. The actual paper was great to work with--no need to mirror-image text. Hard to remove the protective overlay by bending back the graphic and peeling. Instructions say you can also gently "tear" the overlay and the transfer paper with the graphic will withstand it. This worked MUCH better and saved me a LOT of time! The graphics have held up to the 2-year old and the wash so far--MULTIPLE (10?) washings. |

"Great Idea, Hard To Use!" | 2009-08-10 |

The Avery Dark T-Shirt InkJet Iron-On Transfers are a very cool product useful for putting your images on dark material where regular transfers will not work. Saddly, don't expect to use the whole page for your design.
These perform exactly as expected, with great image quality and no problems feeding through my printer, right up to the point where you attempt to peel the backing off before ironing on the transfer. I spent a good 1/2 hour trying to remove the backing, using every trick possible before resorting to making a "small" rip (as the instructions suggest) to get it started. This worked most of the time, but it means that you can't use the whole sheet since you have to rip it to remove the backing. We learned to only print about 3/4 of the page to give us plenty of ripping space.
After you get the backing off, these iron on to your cotton material and really do look great. Be sure to read and follow the directions.
I'll look for another brand, but will continue to use these if a better solution isn't out there. |

| i've spent the last 90 minutes trying to get the backing paper to come off before ironing my image on. as i have been attempting this with nails, knives, x-acto, etc, i have also smeared the images themselves. i changed my inkjet printer settings several times, looked on every message and review board i could find for advice and still...no luck. i printed and went through an entire package, and am now giving up and going to michaels to try something else. |

"Transfers start coming off and fading after first wash!" | 2009-06-24 |

| Creating the transfer is easy--the instructions are simple to follow and they work. However, after the first wash (delicate cycle in a front-loader, cold water, hang to dry), the ink starts washing off and the edges start to become frayed. Also, the image itself starts to become crinkled! Maybe hand washing is what's needed but that's not something the instructions call for. In fact, it says you can machine wash & dry--clearly, you can't. |

I am making team t-shirts on navy, and royal blue t-shirts. These transfers worked beautifully. After reading the reviews, I was very careful to read the instructions VERY carefully. As long as you follow the instructions, there are no problems. The artwork transferred very well to the t-shirt with no bleed through.
I only had two mishaps: 1, I used the transfer sheet at its orginal size, well the cover paper they give you to use with the transfer is just as large as the transfer paper. The cover paper slipped a little while ironing, and spread a little on the t-shirt, as well as got on my iron. If you are going to use the full size transfer paper I suggest using two sheets of the cover paper overlapping to make sure there is no slippage. I was able to brush off the mistake after it cooled a little, and you really can't tell it was ever there. The second mishap I encountered was that I was putting a small logo on the front of the t-shirt, and inadvertently burned it just a little (its a little dark), since while ironing I never did move off the logo because it was so small. Now when putting on the smaller logo, I make sure my iron completely moves off the transfer periodically, and shorten the ironing time just a bit. A good product, you just need to follow the directions.
Also, I found by transfers at Office Depot for about $4 less than what is advertised on Amazon. I was anxious to try them out so decided to buy them local. Usually Amazon has the lowest prices, but I guess they can't do it all the time. |

| I couldn't get the backing to separate with this product -- I'd start to peel it off from the edge it would would come of in randomly shaped, small strips. Ended up wasting all 5 pages -- could not get the backing off at all. :( |
