"Get 2 for stereo" | 2010-04-05 |

| The sound quality is absolutely the best but the closeness of the two speakers doesn't give you much stereo separation. So what I did to give my little home theater some good sound was bought 2 IM7's. One for the Left TV channel and one for the right. I made 2 little adapters that would take, say the TV's Left channel and route it into both the L and R side inputs of the IM7 on the Left side of the TV, and a similar thing for the IM7 on the right side of the TV. Talk about a wonderful sound experience with loud music or movies, it's unbelievable. Now both speakers on the left side IM7 pour out the TV's Left information, and both speakers on the right side IM7 pour out the TV's Right information. The effect is dramatic and impressive. It's so good I don't need a subwoofer. Altec Lansing, bring the IM7 back, they'll sell. |

| I've owned my IM7 for almost two years and could not be happier. Excellent sound quality and range; simple to use; no technical problems whatsoever. I use mine primarily in our finished basement (about 900 square feet of living space) and it completely fills the room with sound. I'm looking to buy another. Wish I could find one for the $125 I paid then (that was quite a bargain). |

"Simply awesome - buys like this have kept me coming back to amazon" | 2009-09-11 |

Sorry to hear about the folks that got defective products or whose IM7's conked out after 2 years, but I think they might have just been unlucky. I've had my IM7 for three years now and it's spent at least 1.5 of those years sitting in the dust of a carpeted floor, got heavily soaked (and acquired permanent water stains) when my apartment was flooded, got bashed and mildly battered as I've carried it around, and it still sounds as completely awesome as the day I got it. My only complaint is it can't take my iPhone so I have to use a docking cradle.
Simply awesome. Rock-solid bass but not fakely pumped up or overwhelming. Beautiful, almost exquisite sound at high or low volumes. Beats all the speaker systems I've ever owned, including several hi-fi's I have since junked, even beats listening to the pretty excellent harman kardon speakers in my car. My only small complaint is it didn't perform at optimum playing music from various windows mobile phones (HTC's) I've used over the years. It seems to be optimized for ipods and itunes, but maybe I'm wrong.
Does anyone know if Altec Lansing have produced a successor to these beautiful speakers? I want to buy some more even if to just give them away for the awesome feedback. Buys like this keep me coming back to amazon. |

"Best Sounding iPod Audio System out there, but....." | 2009-06-14 |

| Well, I can say that I did a lot of research and read many reviews before buying the Altec Lansing iM7. I was not dissappointed in the sound! Wow! Just plain awesome! Rivals many 2.1 systems! But...#1, there is not adaptor for the ipod Nano 3rd gen (aka - Fat Boy). But that is OK, you can still place it in and close the door. Second but...remote doesn't control iPod fucntions. No big deal. Forward song, last song, volumne, etc. Now, the biggest "Buts"...The system will blow the subwoofer or tweeter if played too loud for too long. It shouldn't, but it does. I know this after TWO units!! And the last "BUT"...Altec Lansing (AL) does not make these anymore. Has not since 2006. I called for repairs under the Amazon warranty, & this is how I found out. They will replace it, but their new stuff sounds aweful. Seriously, their sound quality on all their speakers/systems is just tanking!! Anyway, I was told by AL rep that they stopped making it as it was to exepnsive to make. WTF??? That is bull! They were always sold out of it!! Economics 101 people! So that was not a serious issue for them and likely a front "line" to tell the public. Anyway, I would love it if someone bought the patent and made it again, better longevity this time though. I hope this helps those other researchers out there. Great sound, just be careful! |

| I have had my unit going on three years and it still ROCKS!!!!!!! I use it outside when doing yard work or cooking on the grill. Sounds fantastic, can get really loud and keeps my i-pod charged. What more could one want. If it broke i would buy it again. I also bought the harness to help protect it. I like how i can sling it over my shoulder and the small attached pouch comes in handy to carry the a/c adapter etc. For the price, you can't beat it. |
