| I've always thought the original issue of RUBBER SOUL on CD sounds fine. Listening to this remaster on my mid-level system, I definitely hear improvement: the songs play louder (but not too loud) and Paul's bass is more prominent. I wouldn't say the improvement in sound quality is revelatory, though. It's nice, and I'm glad I bought the remaster, but if you are short of cash or not a hardcore audiophile I wouldn't necessarily recommend you toss your 1987 copy and buy this reissue.
The songs, of course, are timeless. I never grow tired of listening to them. | ||

| I say the picture and sound issues are minor, but if the concert portion of the DVD disappoints you the more recent interview segments probably won't. All four band members share fascinating insights and anecdotes. The Kasim Sulton interview is particularly interesting (somewhat at Todd Rundgren's expense). I initially rented this, but now I plan on purchasing a copy. I enjoyed it that much. | ||
