Make sure you skim the low-rated reviews before buying this.

We really liked it when it worked. The user interface was pretty poor, but the functionality and audio quality was very good.

Then cut to the problem you see reported in so many reviews here -- one day, it just shut off with a dead power supply.

I'm now at 10 days since I sent Roku a request to see how to get it repaired post-warranty, and support still hasn't responded at all to two queries.

After that absymal support experience (and hearing here that my only option is a $199 refurb!), I purchased a Logitech 930-000054 Squeezebox Boom All-In-One Network Music Player with Integrated Speakers (Black), and though it lacks the subwoofer of the Roku, its software is dramatically more powerful, supporting many more audio formats and allowing you to instantly access millions of songs if you have a Rhapsody account. And I know from experience with other products that Logitech cares about post-purchase support.

Rated 2 Stars"Soon-to-be-dated stopgap" 2007-10-19
On the plus side, the Sixaxis is identical to the one in the PS3's box, so no surprises.

I bought one because I wanted to play two-player now. But if you can wait, I would. Sony did a 180 on its "rumble is last-generation" and will soon release the DualShock 3, which adds rumble, and hopefully as a side-effect, a bit more weight than this too-featherlight controller has.

If you can't wait for DualShock 3, here's the quick summary on the Sixaxis:
1) Control and comfort: Very good. Layout and responsivelness are very similar to the original PS2 controller. Too light, though.
2) Design annoyance 1: Unlike the Xbox 360 controllers, the Sixaxis doesn't turn itself off after a period of non-use. So if you leave your PS3 on playing media or doing Folding At Home, the controller will stay on till it runs the battery down unless you remember to use the menus on the PS3 to turn it off.
3) Design annoyance 2: The battery isn't removable, so you'll have your excuse for buying a DualShock 3 when the battery on your Sixaxis stops recharging after a period of time.
4) Design annoyance 3: You can recharge it while you play, but the cable that Sony includes is only 3 feet long. Who sits 3 feet from a TV big enough to show off the PS3?

If you need a controller -now-, it's the best game in town, because third-party controllers seem to all omit some key features, such as motion control. But if you can wait, hold out for DualShock 3.
