![]() | "Wow, another hot Darcy!" | 2009-06-08 |
| I just watched this for the millionth time, and I loved it all over again. The cinematography is fantastic, and the music is so lovely and perfectly suits the story. The story was wonderfully depicted, so real and earthy. I love that the characters' environments are so well lived-in. And I love the contrast between the poorer and the richer settings. Keira Knightley is such a wonderful Elizabeth Bennett. She is natural and witty and somewhat angelic, but she's still a little rough around the egdes. I like how charming she seems even with her tiny bit of silliness. She's confident but still maintains an innocent quality. OK - Matthew Macfadyen is the hottest Darcy to walk the planet. At first, I wasn't sure about him because he looked so much like a sourpuss when he made his entrance to the film, but, as his character transforms, he becomes more handsome and eventually just completely sexy. All the nuances we see of Darcy's; the stolen glances, the way he can't stand still around Elizabeth, the tension in his hands - they were all captured perfectly on camera and really brought Darcy's longing (and sexiness) into focus for the audience. I have to add, that there were moments when I wanted to jump through the screen and bite Darcy's bottom lip. For example, the rainy day proposal was so intense...if I were Elizabeth, I'd be tempted to just say screw pride, I'm yours! And she almost looks like she will. But seriously...Matthew Macfadyen is one hot Darcy. The scene where he walks through the dew-covered field at dawn in his flowing coat and his boots and high-waisted pants, YUM! Wow, and my favorite line, "You have bewitched me, body and soul." Who wouldn't say yes to that proposal?! I like the BBC version...Colin Firth is such an awesome, sexy Darcy, too, and now we have this modern, more sexed up P&P. Wow, two great P&P versions, Austen fans should rejoice about that. | ||

![]() | "Man, I cried so much...what is wrong with me?" | 2009-06-05 |
| Babel is such a fitting title for this movie that focuses on the theme of universal pain and hope. All the different barriers we face with the clash of cultures were very well demonstrated. Great movie, but it was a little too real and frustrating at times. I cried at the end, way too much for my own good. I sat there with my tear-stained, mascara-smeared face and was surprised at my outburst of emotions. It was just so powerful and wonderfully moving...or maybe I just get too into movies. Anyway, I highly recommend it. | ||

![]() | "A Different Kind of Freaky Friday" | 2009-06-05 |
| I thought this was going to be a spooky horror type film, but it was completely different. I've seen transference films before like Freaky Friday, etc., but this is the only one I have seen that is truly dramatic. An overbearing suburban mother gets a chance to understand her daughter and see who she really is in the most personal way before it is absolutely too late - a repeated premise, but this one takes the cake for me. And, this may sound kind of perverted or gross, but I thought all the sexual tension and innuendos that came across between David Duchovny and Olivia Thirlby, the actress who played his daughter/spiritual wife, were kind of hot. This movie almost crosses that line, but it doesn't go there which I was totally afraid of in one particular intimate scene. Olivia Thirlby reeled me in with her dual role in this movie, and I look forward to seeing her in more films in the future. David Duchovny was delicious as usual. I don't know what it is, but I just love to watch that man. | ||

| Almost French: Love and a New Life in Paris | ||
![]() | "Almost really liked it, but I just thought it was OK." | 2009-05-26 |
| It probably was much more fun to live this book. I enjoyed the first half of the book just fine, and it kind of got a little boring in the middle but picked up again in the last few chapters. I was tempted to skim over pages of food description as that stuff doesn't appeal to me. I like that Frederic is a constant throughout the book. I was worried he would get lost in there, but Sarah stuck true to the book's title. I would have liked to have read more intimate details about him and their relationship rather than just the tidbits of conversation and discussion about the French and their ways. I'm glad she talked about their wedding. I was worried she would leave that out. That was the best part of the book, and it was sweet. Two things that bothered me about the author's writing style: The first, she seemed a bit inconsistent, she was all over the place in some chapters skipping around to different subjects without good flow or transition. Second is the fact that she used the word "Gallic" quite alot. I was like, enough with Gallic already. I must have seen it on every other page sometimes. Her writing style isn't the best, but she did what she set out to do and told us a story of her love and new life in Paris. And she definitely made me want to visit...and get a dog. ;o) | ||

![]() | "Classic modern e-love story" | 2009-02-19 |
| Hanks and Ryan team up again for another hit love story. I loved these two in Sleepless in Seattle, and I really love them in this cute e-love story. If you want to laugh, cry and just feel good inside then you'll enjoy You've Got Mail. Four stars for predictability. I bought this to put my order over $25 so I could get free shipping from Amazon. Definitely a good deal as I would have paid more for S&H alone if I hadn't ordered this little gem. Ordered this on a Friday and received it the next Wednesday. There was no box sleeve on my deluxe edition DVD, but I didn't mind as I always toss those anyway. Great product at a great price. Thanks, Amazon. | ||

![]() | "My first Temperance Brennan story - Good book!" | 2008-08-11 |
| It was a really satisfying read. There are a lot of gruesome details...it helps that the author is a forensic anthropologist herself. I read parts of the book alone at night and made myself scared thinking someone was watching me or going to break into my apartment while I was sleeping. After numerous attempts at trying to read before bed and getting too scared to carry on after a page or two, I finally decided to stick to reading during the daytime. The only things that slowed me down with this story were the French words. I could have done without them, but I guess Reichs was trying to keep things real since part of the book took place in French-speaking Canadian cities. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Tempe and Detective Ryan. I'm anxious to see that relationship develop throughout the rest of the series which I will be reading. | ||

| Bones - The Complete 1st Season | ||
![]() | " Keep rollin' BONES!!!" | 2008-08-11 |
| The book series got me interested in watching the TV show. Even though it is different, I am so glad I decided to watch! I rented the first season, and now I'm officially addicted! I definitely want to own this series. I absolutely love and can't get enough of it! It just sucked me in - the science, the murders, the mysteries, the chemistry between Boreanaz and Deschanel. It's all so good!!! I'm in the middle of season two now, and it just keeps getting better with every episode!! I hope this show stays on the air for many more seasons! | ||
| Frasier - The Complete Eighth Season | ||
![]() | "Hey, Baby, I hear the blues a callin'..." | 2008-08-11 |
| ...tossed salads and scrambled eggs! I love Frasier! This season wasn't as easy for the writers on Frasier. They had to work in Jane Leeves real-life pregnancy, but that worked in their favor in the end since they were able to make it seem like she was just getting fat to avoid consumating her relationship with Niles. They padded her up nicely, too, so she didn't just look like they were covering up a pregnant belly - she looked bigger all around. I liked the whole season, but it lacked a certain something - I think the decrease in Niles and Frasier's time together on the show has put a bit of a damper on things. Since Niles and Daphne's relationship progressed, though, it was only natural that it would happen. Still, great season! I love the whole show, and I will always be a Frasier fanatic! | ||
| Mansun - Little Kix | ||
![]() | "Great album" | 2008-08-11 |
| Every song has a hook, and you can really feel the emotion in the slower tracks - in the lead singer's voice. Each song just reaches into you and pulls you into the music. It's an unstoppable force. It's Mansun. | ||
| Frasier - The Complete Seventh Season | ||
![]() | "Hilarious as usual!" | 2008-08-11 |
| Another great purchase! Fantastic writing, perfect timing, great plot lines. This show just gets better and better with each season!!! I love it all! My favortie episode has to be "Something About Dr. Mary" - I freaking love that episode. Classic Frasier. | ||
| Mansun - Six [US] | ||
![]() | "Mind blowing music - " | 2008-08-11 |
| This was my first Mansun experience. I'm really not good at critiquing music, but I can tell you that this album is like a hypnotic trip back up the rabbit hole. Everything gets clearer and you get sucked into the spiral that is Mansun. You think you might break free and end up back at the base of everything that is pure and safe, but then you're surprised and tripped into a circle of raw emotions and powerful riffs. It's addicting. Once you start listening, you can stop. Each song melds with another, and there is no break. And you won't want a break. It's one long procession of swirling jams that you can't get out of your head for days on end. You'll be strung out on Mansun, and it's a wonderful feeling. | ||
![]() | The Other Boleyn Girl [Blu-ray] | |
![]() | "somewhat decent representation of the book..." | 2008-07-07 |
| I thought this movie was a somewhat decent representation of the book. It was hard to dislike King Henry so much this time around since he was played by Eric Bana (whew!). The story was kind of summed up in parts with quick scene changes and long periods of time going by in just minutes. I didn't like that, but you can only do so much with a couple hours for a movie. My one gripe about this film is that the ending concerning Anne and George's relationship and what they did and what happened as a result of it was changed so that we're only led to believe that it may have happened. You don't find anything out for sure, and you don't get as twisted and dramatic an ending as you do in the book. The ending was still dramatic, but I think they should have left it alone. Still, it was a good flick....the love scenes could have been longer or more intense (hehe), but they were satisfactory, too. ;o) | ||

![]() | "For all little princesses" | 2008-06-22 |
| I loved this book, and I still love it to this day. I bought this recently as a gift for my 6-year old niece. It's the best make-believe type story, and it really encourages the imagination. A great escape book, and one that is fun for princesses of all ages. The ending brings you back to reality, but it's still a fun fantasy book. | ||
| LG VX8550 Chocolate Dark Blue Phone (Verizon Wireless) | ||
![]() | "Nice piece of candy..." | 2008-06-19 |
| I really like this phone! I just got it two days ago. I traded in an LG ENV2 that I had tried for two weeks. The ENV2 was nice and "techy" I suppose, but I am just not a Qwerty keyboard type of gal. I thought I could get used to it, but using two hands to text is just not for me. I like being able to text without having to look at the keys all the time, and while this Chocolate phone's keys are smaller than I'm used to, they still work just fine for my adult hands. Ok, what I like most about this phone- It's attractive. I love the blue ice color that I chose. It's got a nice, smooth glide. The animated wallpapers that are built in actually look interesting and suit the whole music theme of the phone. The still wallpapers are pretty neat, too, and actually look somewhat artistic as opposed to the stock photos of mountains and flowers. The keys are kind of irridescent, the navigation wheel is shiny and silver (pretty neat), and the touch sensitive keys glow red but don't clash with the phone. It's loaded with cool features-some of my faves: music player that actually plays music at a decent level with adjustable sound effects (and will pause and start back right where you left off if you get a call mid song), tip calculator (which I have never had), voice command that you don't have to program (awesome), 1.3 MP camera and video recorder (2.0 would be nice, but this camera's quality is just as good as the LG ENV2 I think) and a micro SD memory card slot for up to 4GB. The call clarity on this phone is excellent. I can hear everyone I talk to crystal clearly, and the speakerphone is nice and loud as well. No yelling into the phone anymore for me. The ringtones I have play nicely and don't sound like they are distorted or overpower the speaker at all. Some things to note maybe: I have used this phone all day today from 6:30AM to listen to music, make calls, text and download ringtones and pix....I still have 2/4 bars left and it's almost 11:15PM. Also, the speakerphone can only be activated after you have pressed send and are on a call, and the keys usually lock when you are on a call so you have to slide the key lock down on the side to be able to activate the buttons and use other phone functions while on a call if desired. It's not tricky, just takes some getting used to. There's more I could say, but I'm going to wrap it up and just end with saying that this phone is a great deal and great feature/music phone. It's nice to look at and fun to use once you get used to it which hasn't taken me long. Read your user manual (highly recommended) and enjoy your piece of Chocolate. Mine is oh so sweet! | ||
| Quicken Deluxe 2007 | ||
![]() | "First time Quicken user and I have to say it works great!" | 2007-08-08 |
| I just got the software today, and I was so excited to start setting up. I've been working in Quicken for the past few hours entering all my bill reminders, creating my debt reduction plan and budget, etc. I used Microsoft Money a few years back, and compared to MM, I think Quicken is much more beneficial so far and a lot easier to use. I especially like the look of the program as well, nice colors and windows. That might not be important to some people, but if I'm going to be using this program more often than not, I'm glad I can enjoy it visually. Some features I enjoy already: The calendar is a big help in the way that it shows a projected balance on each day of the month based on monthly transactions. It's so great! I feel like I've found money now that I can see exactly when and where it goes. The debt reduction planner is fantastic! I get a clear picture of when I can expect to be debt free, and with this program, I realize I can be debt free a few years earlier than I thought. The only reason I gave this program 4 stars is because it couldn't connect to my bank to download my statements, so I have to input everything manually, but the "go" links that allow you to connect directly to a payee's website kind of makes up for that. It took all of 20 minutes to get used to toggling between windows and learning what to click for where I needed to be within the program, but it's worth the time and effort. If you want to get your finances in order, give it a shot. I wish I'd had this program years ago. I might be debt free right now if I had. I don't know how I got a long without it. | ||
| Friends - The Complete Fifth Season | ||
![]() | "Another hilarious season!" | 2007-07-21 |
| I absolutely love this show, and the 5th season is one of the funniest of this series. You'll laugh from start to finish of every single episode. My favorite episode of the whole season has to be The One Where Everybody Finds Out. I've watched season 5 several times now, and I can't wait to buy season 6!!! | ||
| Frasier - The Complete Second Season | ||
![]() | "Brilliant!" | 2007-02-06 |
| The second season of Frasier is exceptional. The writing is clever, and the laughter just keeps on coming. The show just gets better with age! This is probably my favorite off all the seasons. Every episode is filled with endless entertainment!! Buy it, and love it! | ||

![]() | "Cheesy and Sweet" | 2007-01-25 |
| The movie has an obvious plot, but it's still a sweet story. Who wouldn't want to fall in love with the man who's luxury car they just wrecked...especially when that man is Dylan McDermott?!? Hello! The Jersey characters are a bit over the top, but Jamie Gertz wore her big hair with pride. It's a bit hard to believe at first, but you gotta have hope when it comes to finding love. Rent this one for the sappy romantic in you or, at the very least, to glimpse Mr. McDermott's bare behind! Woohoo! | ||

![]() | "I love my iPod!" | 2006-12-08 |
| This is my very first MP3 player, and I love it! The design is perfect. I can clip this on my clothes at work, and I don't have to listen to the annoying sounds of crappy music coming from my co-workers' cubicles. The earbuds could be better...they aren't as comfortable as I would have liked. The sound quality is nice, though. For $79, I'm pleased. | ||

| Oh what a tangled web we weave when once we practice to spend, spend, spend! Yes, Becky has a shopping addiction and yes, she is a bit naive at times, but she is so sweet and always has the best intentions. You can't help but love her. And you'll love all the other characters in the story as well, especially dreamy Luke. I read this book in two days, and I will definitely be reading it again. I've already read the next installment and can't wait to read the third and fourth! | ||
