| Indoor - Outdoor Pet Shower | ||
![]() | "Kind'a flimsy" | 2008-07-06 |
| The product was shipped right away from the supplier and I was happy about that. However, I was hoping that this pet shower was just a little better built. The fittings that attach to the faucet are fine as well as the hose, but the shower head itself is really not much to rave about. I like the idea of a lever or grip to control the water (something I particularly searched for), but there isn't much of a spray, just water running through a bunch of holes. Makes a dog with a thick coat of fur difficult to rinse. I've seen better heads after searching some more, albeit quite a bit more expensive. Also, if it attached to the faucet as shown, why do you need 5-6 feet of hose. It only gets in the way. Considering that a shower that attaches to a faucet and has a grip or lever to control the flow of water is hard to find, this will have to do for awhile. | ||
| IPEVO Free-1 Skype Certified USB VOIP Internet IP Phone Black handset for PC Laptop Notebook win IF award | ||
![]() | "Nice phone and style, except..." | 2007-12-28 |
| I purchased the IPEVO phone a couple of months ago (in White) and it's okay. Like other's reviewing, running an application instead of a driver is a little cumbersome, but I don't use it all the time unless I am making a direct call over Skype. It doesn't take up much room in my bag and complements my Macbook.
The reason for three stars... Support is not the best. Can only get by email from IPEVO and they do not keep up correspondence. The long cord is not needed by me. About half the length would be fine or something retractable would be even better. At one point my favorite government bureaucracy, TSA, wanted to see what it was, as I had the phone in my bag with six feet of phone cable wrapped around it. Biggest problem I have is when calling someone and you have to enter a menu item (press 1 for...), it gives off a double tone. Of course this makes it useless and I have to revert to the keypad in the Skpe window. I have returned the phone once and not sure if a new one or the same was returned back to me, but it still has this problem. I don't know if it is because I have a call recorder installed as well, a problem with Skype, or something else, but it is frustrating to not be able to use the keypad after connecting without giving off a double tone. I will probably look around in the future for something better to use with the Macbook. I have already seen a couple of other phones that are much less in price, but haven't seen any reviews to judge their quality. | ||

| Elgato Eyetv 250 Plus | ||
![]() | "Simply the Best" | 2007-10-05 |
| I have Eyetv 250 Plus set up on my iMac with a 20" screen. I only mention screen size because a 24" screen would be even better. The fact that a window can not remain on top of other windows is a little annoying, but that is an Apple problem, not Eyetv. The window for watching TV does not have to be very large to watch what is an absolutely crystal clear picture so with more real estate (screen size) you can just move the Eyetv window off to the side and continue to surf or work on a project while watching TV. I originally had a wall mounted 15" TV hanging over the desk to watch TV. Needless to say this is gone for good. Setting up Eyetv was a breeze. Could not have been much easier. It discovered all available channels and set up the program guide for me very quickly. The size is wonderful, no big box sitting on the desk. I haven't played with recording very much, however, it is just a click of a button to start recording. Almost too easy. At some point I will play with the recording feature more and burn some shows or movies (sans commercials also) to a DVD with Toast. I have the full version of Toast, however a lite version comes with Eyetv as well. This is really an excellent product. | ||
| Linksys WTR54GS Wireless G Travel Router with Speedbooster | ||
![]() | "2 stars equal too difficult" | 2007-05-25 |
| The limitation of not being able to connect to a secured wireless signal was the most disappointing feature. Otherwise it was just too difficult to set up. I travel a great deal and at my first stop on my latest trip I was unable to get it to work. I don't have time to play around with settings all the time. It should work as soon as I plug it in and turn on my computer. There are other travel routers around that do this, why can't linksys. The only nice quality was size. | ||
