![]() | "really great episodes" | 2003-10-30 |
| This is the area of GT where the first really big obstacle has been dealt with and we get to see DBZ villains out to spread some chaos. If you've been collecting the baby saga you'll most likely want these. I've heard rumors that funimation will undo the blunder they made in cutting out the first umpteen episodes and produce DVDs for them. This would be good for all of us completist collectors of anime shows(If you're reading this funimation staff). Anyway 17 is on the cover so it is no surprise that he gets to fight once again. The two evil doctors in "HFIL" which we all know means something completely different than "home for infinite losers" concoct a plan to open a bridge between earth and...well lets call it H..E..double hockeysticks. 17 will need a power boost to match the likes of SS4 Goku. He'll get it too! Can't wait till december, when the collection will continue to grow. Enjoy! | ||

| Yu Yu Hakusho - Yoko Kurama (Uncut) | ||
![]() | "Final round of battles in DT begins..." | 2003-09-26 |
| These episodes are great. Kurama shows his true abilities by chemically releasing yoko kurama the fox spirit who hid inside the infant that grew to become the kurama we know so well. Very elite in the supernatural realm, the king of thieves is wise and summons demonic plants to protect himself. Unfortunately the wicked Karasu has the ability to create kamikazi bomb demons mentally and picks away at regular kurama quite a bit before the transformation occurs. Botan shows much grief for the passing of Genkai, and Yusuke can't admit to himself that she is gone for good. There should be three more discs in the dark tournament series, one for each of the other matches. Bui and Hieh should be next. THAT will be one you must have. I don't know about any of you but Hieh is the most interesting character in the series to me. Back when a friend would send me episodes from Japan as they aired I was always rooting for Hieh even though I had no idea what was happening. Having seen way past this area in the series I really hope they keep putting out dvd's since it gets better and better from here. Everything up to this point is just developing the characters for the real battles ahead. Anyway enjoy! | ||
| Final Fantasy Tactics Advance | ||
![]() | "Finally another way to spend 400 hours or so..." | 2003-09-26 |
| ...TACTICS. When it was just an idea in my head from watching a trailer on a bonus disc(I think from Parasite Eve) it struck me as some kind of FFgimick. Little did I realize that the game was the deepest in the entire series. Complex story structuremixed with an ever challenging strategy game. Now thanks to a gameboy player for the GC I am glued to my bed watching the hours fly by as I enjoy an all new tactics adventure. Mind you I find it easier than the original. Level raising was often very tedious in the first game, now the mission based battles and clan skirmishes give each battle variety. I began to realize very quickly how much gil plays a part in the game since you make it hand over fist. I was getting close to 100,000gil after 8 hours of battles and dispatch missions. I was buying items like crazy all the while. I have heard that you need to link with someone else to get all the mission items in the game which kind of bothers me. That seems pointless to me. I prefer a complete RPG with no hassles. Anyway, the job system is geared toward specific races which is cool and overlaps so that you can customize well, but not entirely. For instance Assassin class is far better than the Ninja class yet only one race can take that job. So I have found that they did fix many annoyances from the first game, yet it has lost some of the challenge and customization. But who cares? It is Final Fantasy Tactics. BUY IT NOW! | ||
| Waking Life | ||
![]() | "Are you really even reading this?" | 2003-03-19 |
| Waking Life is IMPORTANT. See this film at least once just to be introduced to some concepts that you may not have ever considered before. I had never seen a film so infused with intelligent commentary on the human condition. Granted at times it is more facetious than insightful. The humor is there to express the hilarious nature of the human thought process. Do not listen to someone if they say that this film is only meant for mensa cardholders. It may take more than one viewing to absorb ALL of the implications made by this film, but ANYONE can learn something from Waking Life. Like many visually appealing films this one was best seen in the theaters. The DVD has some really cool features like "snack and a soda". This short features Mr.Power (he has an interesting part in Waking Life) going out to get refreshments at a local convenience store. The twist is that this was Mr.Sabiston's chance to go wild with the rotoscoping animation program. Also included is a thorough explanation of that very animation process. If you are a commentary addict like myself you will be pleased by both Richard Linklater's and the other featuring many actors from the film. In conclusion, check your alarm clock when you wake up just to make sure you aren't really just dreaming it. You might be surprised at how often the numbers are incomprehensible. | ||
| Barton Fink | ||
![]() | "at last this film is on dvd" | 2003-03-18 |
| For those of you who have not seen this movie, it is an astounding film. This is among the best of the Coen Brother's work. Don't expect Big Lebowski kind of comedy in this one though. It is a DARK comedy. Big Lebowski is much more lighthearted in its delivery. So, a brief synopsis goes like this: Young Barton Fink is the toast of Manhattan. His newest play is a major success, still his agent advises him to take a job writing films in Hollywood. Fink comes to find California to be very disturbing. His boss worships him and is clearly demented. The novelist Fink idolizes is a violent alcoholic who has been used up and spat out by the studio. To top it off his neighbor at his hotel is loud, dimwitted, and disrupting our Barton Fink's creative process. Will Fink be capable of writing a wrestling picture that captures the "Barton Fink" style? Will Hollywood devour poor Barton instead? Find out when this hits the shelves. For those of you who have seen this movie, I share your anticipation of its now inevitable release on DVD. Goodnight. | ||

| Radiohead - I Might Be Wrong: Live Recordings | ||
![]() | "First live album for Radiohead" | 2003-02-13 |
| This band has always delivered outstanding material in the studio yet If you haven't gotten the chance to see them live you might ponder their capabilities as a touring band. This album will have you crossing your fingers for another tour to be announced. The 'Like Spinning Plates' is phenomenal although I've heard there was a superior performance to this during the tour. 'True Love Waits' is a track that may be new to some Radiohead listeners and is also masterfully done with passion and sadness that weeps from the speakers. Radiohead proves that they are not just architects, they also pour their hearts out on stage and give every show as much attention as they do the laborious task of bottling their musical energies into album form. This compilation from their KID A sessions tour boasts everything a Radiohead fan could ask for from frantic seizures of antipathy to soul-chilling tapestries of forlornment. | ||
| Dragon Ball Z:Kidbuu - Vegeta's Plea | ||
![]() | "renewed battle of the buus" | 2003-01-27 |
| This DVD has got some of the last few episodes of the entire series. As such they are far from disappointing. As what is left of Dai Kaio in the good buu faces off against the raw madness of Bibidis original creation, Vegeta uses his tactical expertise to both revive the earth and its inhabitants. Now it is left in the hands of humans to save themselves. Quite harrowing when most people would rather get icecream and watch movies instead. Meanwhile good buu gets pretty beaten up. Goku realizes that SS3 is a little harder when you actually have a body so of course lets build a spirit bomb. Kid Buu saga marks the final form of the last nemesis in Dragon Ball Z. It is no wonder killing him is such a collaborative event. | ||

![]() | "They're finally going to kill that Majin Buu" | 2003-01-27 |
| These episodes detail the final destruction of Majin Buu. However there is still the potential for good Buu to release the angry side once more. In a pinch the champion finally convinces the humans to give their spirit energy to Goku's spirit bomb. Still, Goku lost most of his strength trying to power up the SS3 form to its maximum and so the eternal dragon porunga may have to step in and give him back that strength he needs to get Buu inside the bomb. Look for tons of guest spots from original Dragon Ball characters on this disc. 6 months after Evil Buus death the Good Buu has been wiped from the easily frightened people's minds(again by the dragonballs) however he may not be able to cope with everyday social etiquette problems much less Bulma ordering him around. Mr. satan's guidance is the only thing keeping Majin Buu from killing, kinda frightening thought there. | ||
