	Race to Witch Mountain (Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) [Blu-ray]
	"A 'Rocking' good film!"	2009-10-15
Race to Witch Mountain is better than the original movie. The Rock, (or Dwayne Johnson to movie fans unaware of his wrestling background) plays his role of a Vegas cabbie who's thrust headlong into an intergalatic imbriglio, complete with advanced aliens, a hottie love interest, secret agents, government conspiricy, flying saucers, and a killer Cyborg (!) in a sharp, believable manner. The movie doesn't take itself too seriously, and delivers on timing, comedy, (especially with the Rock's one liners!) and enjoyment. I give it 4.5 stars of 5. This is a movie the whole family can enjoy and delivers plenty of good special effects, comedy, chemistry, and lots of action scenes!
	Babylon 5 - The Complete Third Season

Babylon 5 is one of the best written science fiction series ever made. It more than holds its own with its contempories such as Star Trek TNG (even though it may not have pulled in as many viewers) and with newer series such as the formidable Stargate SG-1, or its spinoff Stargate Altantis. (all of which I've watched in their entirety and am a big fan of!) Season three is yet another winner from JMS. 22 episodes of tightly woven stories that seamlessly flow from episode 1 onwards and further develop the storyline with the open emergence of the most malevolent (from the point of view of the much younger, less powerful races) First Ones--the Shadows, the conflict between a fading galatic power--the Centauri, and the Narns, and the increasingly cordial relations between the Minbari, mightiest of the galaxy's younger races, and the Humans, an unpredictible, powerful, and energetic younger race new to the galatic scene. The chemistry between the actors pays huge divedends as Captain Sheridan, Amb. Delenn, Security Chief Garibaldi, former Psi Corp Telepath Lyta, Narn Amb. G'kar, Centauri Amb. Londo, and Commander Ivanova all deliver powerful performances across the episodes. Finally, more is also revealed about the nature of another group of First Ones, the secretive and incredibly powerful Vorlons, a contemporary of the ancient Shadows and generally their opposites in thought and action, and their chosen role in the galaxy's affairs. All in all, with B5 season three it would be all too easy to watch all 22 episodes over the weekend; it really gets ones attention----and enjoyment!
	Gonzo Gizmos
	"Can Do DIY!"	2009-09-15
The Gonzo Gizmos book has many good points. It is written for an interested reader who may not possess a technical background but is interested in fun DIY projects--especially those involving fire, big bangs, or projectiles. The chapters are short and on track, provide good information on necessary safety precautions (but doesn't try to scare you!) and has clear diagrams/pictures and a specific shopping list of usually easily obtainable items. (No "Unobtanium" materials here! :) A well written follow up to the popular Backyard Ballistics!
	Garmin Nuvi 200W Widescreen Automotive GPS Navigation System

The Garmin Nuvi 200 is even better with the 4.3 widescreen. This is the third portable Garmin I've owned, and all have been great, with the newest one even better, with out of the box usability, quick 1 minute setup, and good customization options. (Route choice/languages/hwy vs. tollways, etc) Battery life is very good at about 3.5 hours with a freshly charged one, and unlimited with 12v power of course. This model works great with a friction mount (a $35 option) Forget the suction cups...they fade and warp after about 6 months and auto thieves are always looking for those tell-tale suction cup marks to break in. The Garmins come with a nice security feature that looks out the functions at power off. You input a code on power on and use it normally then. But if stolen, the thief has a useless gadget! You don't have to use the security feature but I highly recommend it. About the only flaw with the Garmin is the long satellite lock on time. Sometimes it gets the satellites in 15-30 seconds, but it can just as easily take 2-3 minutes sometimes! It does have a very strong lock on once it gets the satellites though...I've never lost a signal on the road with it.

I upgraded to the Black and Decker because I needed more CCA's to jumpstart my friends cars. The Mighty Mite at 250 CCA's was too small for a drained battery. But 2 weeks after I bought the Black & Decker unit I used it to jumpstart an 07 Maxima that had its lights left on all morning. No problem, the 450 CCA's got it started within 2-3 seconds! I like the easy to read attached instructions, good AC power at 400 watts sustained, and good CCA's. It's a lot of value for the money.
