![]() | "Great gift for a gardener" | 2009-09-18 |
| I got this for my mom for Christmas '06. She still loves it now! It's durable and the perfect tool for her. She's a gardening nut and constantly has a project going outside. She had trouble maneuvering the regular wheel barrow as it was large and too cumbersome for her, especially up a hill(there's a few in her yard). She was always waiting for my Dads help to push that where she needed it.
I saw this and knew it would work perfectly for her. It lays flat to put stuff in it(she's usually transplanting flowers) and get where she needs to go. My mom is small, about 5'2, and this seems like its made for someone her size! She still has the large hefty wheel barrow for the 'big jobs', but now she's not trying to lug the smaller loads around in buckets or in the too big barrow. Turned out to be an amazing gift!

| I understood the downfall of not being able to charge the ipod while using the airclick. I previously had one on an ipod mini that attached on the top, but really, once I adjusted to it being on the bottom, it was fine.
I don't know what I'd do without the airclick! I've been using it steadily for at least 3 or 4 years, and it still works perfectly. It's on the bottom of my ipod 95% of the time, as I use it most in the car. It's durable, and a great addition to anyone's ipod. I attached the remote control to my steering wheel, its a great spot to just change songs with my thumb. You can press play, fastforward/backward(or change to the previous/next song), control the volume. The basic controls. So it works best if you're a frequent user of "shuffle". Wouldn't be without it, it'd make a great gift for almost anyone.

![]() | "Great little steamer" | 2009-09-18 |
| I became a little obsessed with 'green' cleaning about 2 years ago. So I did some research and this was the steamer I picked. It works great! I don't use it constantly, I pull it out every couple of months for my deep cleanings. Let's put it this way, when you're done, you feel so disgusting from the grim and dirt you pulled up with this steamer, you consider using it on yourself(you need a LONG shower). I cleaned an old stove in my apartment and made it almost look new again! It's great to get up that stubborn gross stuff you've been wondering how to get rid of.
My mom borrowed it and used it to wash the walls in their living room before repainting. They're were dirty from using the fireplace during winters, but the cleaner that someone recommended to her was making her sick with fumes, plus it required too much elbow grease. We spray on some homemade green cleaner, let it sit for a few minutes and then steamed and wiped away the dirt. It made the job easier and faster for her. Good cleaning 'agent' to use with it...white vinegar! The water heats fast, the light comes on when it's ready and I easily did my whole kitchen and bathroom on one tank. perfect attachments, it rolls behind you. I like everything about this steamer. Plus it's not huge, so its easy to store in our pantry. For this price it's exactly what I expected, and if you're an every few month deep cleaner like me, its definitely the perfect tool.

| I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas. He had been asking for a GPS for awhile after using my Garmin Nuvi 360(amazing GPS). I started looking into different brands because of the wide price difference figuring, hey, they all just give you directions, right? I was completely wrong, and I'm so sorry I bought this for him. It makes me feel guilty every time he tries to use it and it doesn't work. I picked this particular one because it states that it: speaks street name, had POI's(points of interest), had a speed warning and a stylus. It sounded very similar to all my favorite garmin features. I didn't have unrealistic expectations -- for the price, I figured it won't be as nice looking or solid, but will get the job done. Lets just say you're lucky if it will get you 20 feet in the correct direction. We live a few miles outside of Boston, but in a suburban area. No tall buildings here...just a nice clear view of the sky. No matter the time of day, weather or location, this thing very rarely got a signal and would just state "GPS signal, too low" over and over again. So I emailed Pharos and sent it in to be checked out. They sent it back, and it now will acquire a signal, after sitting in the car for 1/2 hour, without moving. If I'm driving, forget it. Maybe 45 minutes to get a signal. This is NOT how a GPS is suppose to work. My garmin takes about 1-2 minutes tops. Besides that, its not user friendly. I am a tech addict, I can figure out how just about anything works and use it without a manual. I think the garmin brand is fantastic and can even be used by my mom, who can barely get online and go websurfing. I wish I had spent the extra 40-50 bucks to get my boyfriend the garmin. I get confused and annoyed trying to navigate the Pharos screens. Also the points of interest are useless. I took this unit out yesterday to test it after getting it back from Pharos, supposedly fixed. After waiting 45 minutes for a signal, I plugged in stores in my town to see if they would come up. Nothing. They were giving me stores in Connecticut(I'm in MA). I tried both ways of having it search for "grocery stores" around me, or just typing in "shaw's", it gave me a Shaw's 40 miles from me when I know there is one about 1/2 a mile down the street. Points of interest is my favorite feature of the garmin, that I can be an hour from my house in an unknown place and find a target or walmart. Take the plunge and put a few extra bucks towards a GPS, buying a cheapo unit like the pharos will only leave you frustrated and feeling ripped off. I've been seeing nice Garmin units that speak the street names(which was one of my must criteria) for 120-150. | ||

When I complained to Pharos that it still is not working correctly(or at all), they told me to "plug it in to a power source, and let it sit in an unmoving car for 4-5 minutes to aquire a signal". So, the walking gps part of this is clearly useless, since you can't be plugged in to power and taking a walking tour while your perhaps on vacation, which is a feature that is offered by the main menu of this unit. Take the plunge and put a few extra bucks towards a good brand GPS, buying a cheapo unit like the pharos will only leave you frustrated and feeling ripped off. ![]() | "Almost reaches the right spots" | 2009-03-02 |
| I'm 5'3+ and often hold all the tension in my shoulders, back and neck. I was given this for Christmas and very excited to try it. The parts it does reach it does well. It's so sad when you feel it getting to that tight shoulder area and then feel it turn around to go back down before getting there. The same goes for the lower back...almost there, and turns. ugh. frustration! I end up trying to contort so it will reach those spots, but that's probably not a great idea, if you've already got a sore back. Also, DO NOT over use it! The first day I had it run and leaned into it for a good hour and woke up with the most sore muscles! My own fault, because it says in the manual not to exceed the 15 minute time limit. I use it now in my home office chair and one thing it is good for is to keep warm. The heat is nice and takes the chill out for me. Also, if I don't lean into it, it's perfectly fine to run for a while. Nice idea -- would be supremely awesome if it got to the good spots. | ||
| Conair Satin Finish, Instant Heat Ultra Slim Straightener, 3/4 CS4CS | ||
![]() | "clearly not made for left handed people" | 2009-02-21 |
| I bought this straightener to polish up a little when I need it, but I do have fairly thick, straight shoulder length hair anyway. I need it most after I go to sleep with wet hair and I wake up with it pointing in every which direction. The most annoying thing I find is that with the button placement to turn it on and put it on "turbo" is terrible. I'm left handed, and I know we're only about 10% of the population. But I turn it off constantly and then wonder why it's stopped working. So I have to turn it on again and wait for it to heat, again. This is the largest downfall for me. Otherwise, it's a middle of the road straightener and does the trick for the most part. Sometimes I feel it could be a bit better and get more of a sleekness without having to go over the spot more then once, but, hey, it was around 15-20 bucks. For a casual user who doesn't rely on this daily, I think it's fine, though eventually I'll probably upgrade a bit. For someone who uses a straightener without question every morning and really invests a lot in their 'look' 7 days a week, you might want to find something better. | ||
| Wahl 9906-717 Groomsman Cordless/Battery Operated Beard and Mustache Trimmer - Pewter/Black | ||
![]() | "fantastic little trimmer" | 2009-02-20 |
| I got this for my boyfriend for Christmas. He had been asking for one for awhile, and for the price I don't know why I kept putting it off. For 13 bucks, it's well worth it. He comes and goes with having a beard, but the last couple of months he has really been sticking with it. He said this trimmer works great, aside from sometimes shooting little hairs into his eyes, which was the only downside he could find. It comes with a couple little accessories including a stand and oil to keep it running well. He did mention that he's never needed to stop to clean it out, like you sometimes have to do with the big trimmers. I also use it when I'm giving him a haircut, it's really great for around the ears and the back of the neck. Around the ear is a spot I've struggled with(hold the ear down, get a good angle, get the large trimmers to maneuver that spot, etc etc) and now I can do it without having him hold his ear out of the way and in the process, having his hand in my way. Also, and this is a huge plus!: he no longer worries about me chopping one of his ears off...which I got a large chunk once when using scissors. oops! The only downfall was that it's battery operated. I don't like tossing batteries in the garbage because it's both toxic and expensive, but if you get rechargables for this, you're all set. definitely a great buy at a great price. I hope they last forever! | ||
| Remanufactured iRobot Scooba Floor Washing Robotic Hard Surface Cleaner, Assorted Colors - White and Blue | ||
![]() | "does a nice job. when it's not stuck in a corner." | 2009-01-16 |
| I have a roomba 530 that I absolutely love. My worst enemy is the kitchen floor -- I HATE it. It always seems dirty and I really just despise sweeping and washing it. So for xmas, my parents got me the scooba which I'd been wanting(VERY BADLY), and it was a good choice to get the remanufactured one here on Amazon being it doesn't seem as loved as the roomba is if you look at reviews. For $150, I think it was a fair price. Having used it now, I wouldn't pay more. To let you know the space I'm using it: live in an apartment with 6 rooms, all hardwood floors except the kitchen and bath which are tile and linoleum. I followed all the directions and read up on the scooba beforehand online. I got the 5800(they say you'll either get the 5800 or 5900 when you order one remanufactured). Totally fine with me as its the model where you can use either the scooba Clorox solution mixed with water or white vinegar mixed with water. Once the solution that came with it runs out, I'll definitely be using the white vinegar not only for the cost effectiveness, but it's 'green' and also probably healthier for my cats. A couple of things that bug me. I realized when you power it down, the suction stops and therefore leaks a bit of the dirty water it was in the process of sucking up. but it does make sense, so that's not a big deal. I usually just swiffer up the stuff it leaked when I'm done. The other thing that's not great is that it is not as intuitive as the roomba. It seems to have issues when a room is not completely square. It either ignores an entire area or if you block it in a small 3x3 space(in my case the area it was ignoring in the room) with the virtual wall it just becomes confused and rams itself into the same corner over and over looking for a way out. That was a bummer for me, as I love how the roomba can get in and out of anywhere on its own and never leaves any reasonably reached area untouched in my opinion. Also the battery life isn't very long. It usually does my kitchen and then makes the "I'm so done and out of battery juice" booping and beeping. That's fine as I don't have a large space to clean and one room a day works well for me. It's pretty easy to clean when it done and things clip in and out of place for washing. You can submerge the tank but not the bottom part of the unit, but the little brushes to pop in and out so you can wash them as well. I think by maintaining and cleaning it well after every use, it should keep working nicely. So all in all, it does wash the floors so I don't have to do it, which is amazing. I'm happy to have it and really feel accomplished when I'm 'roomba-ing' my bedroom and 'scooba-ing' the kitchen while I read a book haha As long as you don't expect it to work wonders and have realistic expectations, it's definitely a fun and useful gadget to have. | ||
| Halex 57300 3.0 4 Player Lightning Table Tennis Set - Red, Blue, Green | ||
![]() | "Great fun!" | 2008-12-26 |
| I got this for my Dad for xmas, he's notoriously hard to buy for - though he will deny it, but he seems to like toys and wii games. Instead of just playing wii tennis, I thought this would be really fun, as they have the perfect size dining room table for the game. It came with 4 well made paddles, the net and brackets and 3 balls. The balls are colorful so they're easy to spot by my parents(both in their late 50s) and even my Mom was having fun playing. Throwing it an extra pack of ping pong/table tennis balls would be helpful so you don't have to chase them as often(ok, so we're not so good yet and hit just about everything BUT the table quite often, 50 extra points if it gets stuck in the light fixture!) I told my Dad to put something soft under the brackets but he ignored me, so we'll see how the table fairs. Definitely a fun, affordable buy for the person who has everything, and on top of that, it was a work out, and who doesn't need to burn some calories? Great for all ages. | ||
| Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica - The Final Season | ||
![]() | "not as good as the first-third season" | 2008-09-27 |
| I absolutely loved this series. In hindsight, you can see they were falling apart in this last season compared to the other seasons, so that part bums me out and it isn't as funny or entertaining as the other seasons either. But honestly, for mindless fun tv, the entire series was great. You can't help but want to see the whole thing from season 1 thru to the end, so I would always finish with watching this season. Even my boyfriend can't help but watch it with me whenever I'm having a "newlyweds" marathon, he finds it as entertaining and hilarious as I do. So sad they didn't work out. | ||
| DeLonghi CGH800 Retro Panini Grill | ||
![]() | "fantastic and heavy duty" | 2008-09-22 |
| I got this for my birthday about 2 years ago. I had read about all the different brands/models and chosen this one. Thankfully I wasn't sorry! This panini maker is awesome. I realize you can grill sandwiches in a pan or even on your george forman(which doesn't adjust at the back for the height of the sandwich so everything comes out the front!)but those both seem like more work then having an actual panini grill. we had also just spent time in Italy and wanted to make some delicious authentic paninis without all the typical condiments like mayo(not once did we find mayo on anything in italy, who knew a sandwich could be so awesome without it!?) This panini grill heats up fast and you can choose the temp from lo-high. It adjusts well to height of the sandwich so thats its grilled perfectly. My boyfriend even discovered that he could make grilled burritos on this, which is something I hadn't thought of. Perfect for making a soup and sandwich lunch or dinner. I'd totally buy it again if I had the choice. | ||

![]() | "Great idea! but......" | 2008-09-19 |
| I love my aerogarden. I've gone thru two seed kits so far(the one that comes with it and the italian herbs) and both are great. I can't express how awesome it is to have fresh herbs when you're in the mood to cook and in the end it's a total $ saver, getting a little package of fresh herbs(one kind) at the grocery store is 3-4 bucks, and you can never use the whole package before it goes bad. My only issue is, the herbs grow so high they grow into the light and burn. They have rectified this with the new models that go another 12 inches or so higher then original model. But for people who bought the original, it sucks. You pay $150 or so dollars for the whole thing, and to get a new arm light they want another $109 dollars!! Thats such a rip off. I'd like to think they'd update your arm for 25 dollars(just throwing out an affordable number here) for already being an aerogarden customer because you're obviously spending money to get the kits and new lights etc. I wish I had waited and known about the newer model, I kind of feel I was totally ripped off by the aerogarden company. paying upwards of $250 to turn your original into the pro series, when the pro series model is $169-199. So sad. so, DONT BUY THIS ONE! go buy the pro series with the higher arm and more powerful lights and it will most likely be a happy buying experience for you, especially if you love to cook!! | ||

| Garmin Nuvi 360 Pocket/Vehicle GPS Navigator and Personal Travel Assistant | ||
![]() | "pretty much as expected" | 2008-09-18 |
| I got this after selling my couple year old PDA gpa that I never used. That thing had the annoying feature of every time the battery died, it unloaded ALL The maps you had loaded in thru the computer. completely beyond aggravation and didn't want to deal with it.br /br / I had tried other garmin nuvis and found them easy to use and what I had expected from a GPS.I had the option to get it built in to my newer car, but with the rate of people breaking in and ripping them out of the dash, I felt more comfortable with a removeable one that I can also bring on journeys in other peoples cars.(or lend it to a person who has no idea where they're going).br /br / I absolutely love that while you're out you can find the nearest target, sephora, grocery store. You can just look up a store by alphabetical order and most likely it'll have one in the system that will work for you. The text-to-speech was as expected and something specific I was looking for was that it said the actual street, not just "turn left if 50 feet". Now it says "turn left in 50 feet on Main Street". The only things I would change is certain things in needs to be more specific about. I sometimes find myself responding to it being like "well, it would have been nice if you had mentioned..." and right now I cant think of a specific incident, only that sometimes I could have used more of a "coming up, look, it's coming up!!" warning or detailed instruction. But heck, it's a machine that gives you directions, so it's pretty great. I also chose this model for the bluetooth feature. I'd never used it before on anything else, but I find it super that when my cell rings, the GPS rings. I don't have to fumble for my phone, I just hit "answer" or "ignore" on the GPS. People say it sounds like I'm in a tunnel when talking to them and that theres a bit of an echo, but for just quick hi, bye kinda things and no long conversations, its perfect. You shouldnt be talking while driving whether it's hands free or not. br /br /I will also note that if you have an AUX jack on your radio(which I use for my IPOD) if you're really nervous about not knowing where you're going,you can plug it into the GPS and the sound comes thru your speakers, so you can control the loudness if you're really just like "I have no clue where I'm going, I want to concentrate on where I'm going and nothing else. GPS, speak to me". You obviously cant listen to the radio when it's like this, so it doesnt interject thru the radio or anything, its just silence when the gps is not speaking.(if you want it to interject, I think thats a feature on the more expensive models that it goes thru your speakers all the time).br /br /I think it has anything you could really need for mild-to-moderate use, not exactly sure what the more expensive models hold, but this one seems to cover a bit of everything without paying an extremely expensive price. br /Great little GPS, I'd definitely buy it again. | ||
| Kyocera Wildcard Prepaid Phone (Virgin Mobile) | ||
![]() | "get what you pay for" | 2008-08-12 |
| I was paying upwards of 65 bucks a month for verizon and was terrified of breaking or losing my phone, because they're so expensive to replace(the last time I ran over it with my car, thank god I had the $5 per month insurance plan, but there was also a 50 dollar deductable. That adds up!) I looked over phones and pricing plans, this is the phone I chose because I really wanted the full QWERTY keyboard. I got it in white from best buy on sale and they honored the price of $90 bucks I found on the virgin mobile site AND i got a free CD, all in all a super deal. Throwing in an extra 10 bucks got me a coverage plan with best buy if I break the phone(but doesnt cover water damage) or it malfuctions. After using it for a month, this is what I've got to say. Bad things: 1. Crappy battery. I don't talk on the phone more then 5 minutes a day if that, and it barely lasts a day or two without being charged. Thankfully, I'm around a plug. 2. Also, it seems to turn itself on and off a lot. You hear it in the middle of the night making little noises because of that. 3. no alarm function or calculator 4. not very good reception in houses Good things: 1. very easy to use with keyboard 2. nice and loud with the volume up so you can hear it ring 3. blue tooth enabled, works good with my GPS All in all, I'd buy it again despite it's downfalls. It's a cheapy phone, so if I hurt it, its not 300 dollars to replace. I also love not being locked into a contract and paying about $30-$35 bucks a month vs. $65 for more then enough minutes(I think I have 200 daytime and 500 nights and weekends) and 500 texts. | ||
| The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep [Blu-ray] | ||
![]() | "cute movie" | 2008-04-08 |
| Ok, I'll admit it, I didn't see this movie for the kids(I don't have any!). I watched it by myself. I love animals and the legend of the lochness monster I find really interesting. I was thrilled when I saw the preview in the theatre, but later decided not to see it because I form unnecessary attachments to fictitious animals(for the duration of the movie) and get really upset when they get hurt/die. So at that time decided it was a rental option only. The special effects were awesome and they gave an amazing realism to Crusoe, the water horse. From hatching to adulthood he was so real looking! I found some of the dialog to be..a little low(mumbling maybe) and the Scottish accent can be a bit hard to understand, I did fine with it but I think some kids might be bewildered by it. The kids in the film were super, their mom seemed a bit...stiff. That might be just how the actress decided the character was. PLOT SPOILER AHEAD(Barely): My only concern was I found some of the missiles they were shooting into the loch to be really upsetting. For those kids who are too young to understand that Crusoe is digital, they might think this is a real animal getting nearly killed by missiles. So I didn't really love the war aspect of it to be honest. I found the best part of the movie to be the first 1/2 before Crusoe moves to the loch. After that, embarrassingly enough, I cried thru most of it (maybe I was just having an emotional moment, it's probably not a normal reaction!)but thank goodness the water horse survives, otherwise it would have been a really miserable movie for me. Anyway! I think it would be a fun movie for kids 8 and up, and the special features on the 2nd disc were great. They delve more into movie making and also the story of the Lochness creature. | ||
| Brother CS-6000i 60 Stitch Computerized FreeArm Sewing Machine | ||
![]() | "A complete sewing novice......." | 2007-10-26 |
| I once tried to use a sewing machine when I was around 14 and into altering my clothes. Honestly, I think I almost blew up the darn thing. I had borrowed it from my grandmother and I don't know if it ever worked again. At that time I vowed NEVER to touch a sewing machine again(I easily get frustrated when things don't work out the way I plan). Well, about 13 years later, I decided I wanted to make a quilt out of old band t-shirts. I had planned on sending them away to a professional company, but could not justify the $400-500 price, and someone said "why don't you do it yourself?". Never one to turn down a challenge, I decided to give it a go. If I "blew up" another machine I would know I'm never meant to use one. I read a lot of reviews on amazon, because frankly, I didn't even know what I was looking for. I knew something that was 'user friendly' and good for a beginner. Beyond that, totally clueless. I remembered the Brother brand being good, and I liked the look of the machine. Not too many knobs and buttons and I can totally work with digital. The fewer things I can manually break the better. I also didn't want to go all out on price, but get something moderate so that if I did end up enjoying it, I wouldn't have to immediately get a better one. So, with these ideas, I finally decided on this machine. And I'm EXTREMELY proud to say, I made a quilt/blanket my first day. No, it wasn't perfect, but I got the machine running and found it pretty easy to figure out. I started slow and really paid attention to the manual (which is rare in my case). Granted, some of the terminology is like reading something in the hardest foreign language possible, but some staring at the diagrams in the manual helped me to figure it out(and making a couple phone calls to see what threading the bottom and the top meant, did I need to do both? Apparently so.) I even know what a bobbin is now. =) I'm currently starting my second quilt and I'm really excited to learn. I've ordered some 'complete guides to quilting' to get a better idea of things, but I am confident this machine will work well for me. I think the light it has is fantastic, I could easily get busy in a darkened room and see what I was doing. Once you get the hand of threading it's easy to remember. The speed button works well, it can go very slow if you're unsure and speed up as you become more used to the machine. The only thing I don't love is....and maybe there's a trick to this I haven't caught onto yet.....is that I end up JAMMING as much blanket as possible under the arm to try and finish things in the middle of the blanket. I wish there was more room between the body of the machine and where the stitching happens. I've fiddled a little with the different stitches, which is really fun. I still don't know what the tension is, but I guess I'll figure it out as I go along. If you're a beginner like I am, I would definitely recommend this machine. It's a fun new hobby and not nearly as daunting as I had thought it would be. Happy quilting! | ||
| PS, I Love You | ||
![]() | "didn't really like it...." | 2007-06-01 |
| I usually really enjoy books like this, but P.S. I love you didn't come together for me. I found the idea of it very interesting, that her deceased husband left her message to open. BUT other then that, all the in-between message opening I found to be sluggish and boring. I don't know if it was her writing style or the story, but it just didn't work. It actually was kind of depressing. I know it must be extremely difficult to get back on your feet again after losing a husband, but now that I think about, is that really something enjoyable to read about? Probably not. It might have been easy to identify with Holly if perhaps you have gone through the same type of loss, but for me it wasn't the best book. | ||
| Canon PowerShot SD800 IS 7.1MP Digital Elph Camera with 3.8x Wide Angle Image-Stabilized Optical Zoom | ||
![]() | "so far it rocks!" | 2007-04-09 |
| As for my 'photography background', I almost attended college as a photo major. Its a big interest of mine and something Ive been doing for years. I use my camera both professionally(in my real estate career) and just for fun on vacations etc. I just got this camera a few days ago. I have previously owned 2 other canon powershots, 1 of which broke and was more expensive to fix then buy new. But once I got over that, I bought the powershot a400. My problem with that was standing in a small room, it barely got any of the room in a photo. I've already used the SD800 in a couple of houses, and I'm in love with the wide angle lens. It gets a huge span of the room. Also used it for close ups and the macro feature is super. I've been taking pictures with one hand, and they always come out clear, so I'm attributing that to the image stabilization. The shutterspeed is SO much faster the the A400 and was one of the main reasons I wanted to get a new camera. There is no standing around while your camera "thinks" about the photo you just took and after you press the button it takes the photo immeadiately, theres no lag time. The only con I found, which is really just a personal preference: I wish it took regular batteries, because it saves me if my battery dies to have some extras lying around. So now I just have to keep on top of charging the battery and maybe will get a second one as a backup. | ||

| I first got aquainted with this album when it was released in 98. I loved in then and thought by now I might have outgrown it. But I recently loaded into my ipod and I'm so excited I did! I forgot how much I loved her voice, the lulling sound of the music. It's groovy, funky, very jazzy. I also love the collaboration she did with black eyed peas on one of their earlier albums, bridging the gap. awesome.I haven't gotten her most recent album, but definitely plan to after coming to the realization that I LOVE this album. I don't care if it's different, she's a genius. | ||
| Grey's Anatomy - Season 1 | ||
![]() | "This show is fantastic" | 2006-01-09 |
| The special features are good, with insight into the writing. The extra scenes are good, though i wouldnt buy the DVD purely for them -- buy it for the show. I have seen every episode of the first season, and it's addictive!! Very funny, heartwarming and just all around enjoyable. The actors are great, my favorite character is George, because he seems so docile, but can be pushed to insanity. Best quotes, great writing and gripping. It's anything and everything you could want in an hour. I recorded this show on a whim on my DVR, and once I got into it I couldnt stop and watched the whole season in a sitting. I think this show differs from most medical dramas because it centers more about the lives of the interns, vs the big head surgeons, who are just supporting cast. It's not as straight drama as ER, and not as comedy as scrubs, it's just in the middle, and it's perfect. | ||
| My Sister's Keeper | ||
![]() | "Stunning, compelling, everything you need in a good book." | 2005-12-29 |
| I'll start by saying I've read all of Picoult's books, and I love them all. But this is by far my favorite. Without going into much detail, it's about a family. They have a daughter with a rare cancer, and are told without a match to provide donations of all types, they cannot save her. No one is a match. So they concieve another daughter to be her match. This girl is born solely to help the sick daughter. As the match daughter gets older, she realizes she doesn't want to be THE doner for her sister anymore. She goes to a lawyer to get medical emancipation from her parents. I found this book to be extremely interesting, as you get torn between the feelings of the daughter, the parents, and the sick child. It even had me calling up people, telling them the story, and asking what they thought. Jodi Picoult is an amazing writer and she really sets the scene and brings you into the book, along for the ride. I plan to read this book over and over throughout my life, because it puts life in perspective for you and makes you appreciate what you do have. I wouldn't hesitate to give this book to ANYONE to read.... | ||

| I read night spider, and enjoyed it. When I saw this book, I thought "hey, that one was entertaining" and most authors I read tend to be pretty consistent. This book was awful. It was boring. I think it took me about a month or more to finish it, and I usually read books in a few days tops. The things the other reviewer said are all true -- why not change the locks? Isnt it weird they're all having decorators? I am now going to start writing down the authors of books this boring, so that i don't buy anything by them again. I actually threw this book in the trash, because I didn't want to torture anyone else with it. | ||
| Felicity - Senior Year Collection (The Complete Fourth Season) | ||
![]() | "love it." | 2005-09-25 |
| I've seen all the felicity episodes countless times. I think the season I get most involved in is the 1st and 3rd, but the senior year was good. If you enjoy her thought patterns and her indecision between ben and noel, this is a fun ending. Sometimes it's fun to go back to college with her. I personally never lived in a dorm, but this kinda lets you know what it was like, and also all the post-dorm, apartment living too. I'll also comment that I think everyone on the show did great acting. Scott Speedman's portrayal of Ben is the hottest pain-in-the-ass with a heart who repeated screws up. Its so easy to sympatize with Scott Foley's character, Noel, and get frustrated with him every single time. Sometimes Felicity drives me crazy, but you can understand how she arrived at different conclusions time and again. And may I also say, Javier always adds the much needed dose of comedy, and most of the time steals the show. I love felicity, and I thought it was an awesome show. | ||

![]() | "Entertaining....." | 2005-09-11 |
| I got this book randomly in the bookstore. I read the back said "Ehh...maybe.." and then noticed it was the same author as "where the heart is". I really enjoyed the book as well as the movie, so i figured i'd give it a try. If anything, it was a fast read. I enjoy her writing style, and she wrote well from a man's perspective. I had some trouble following a few characters, i dont know if its my lack of memory, or that she kinda jumped around a lot. But all in all, it was enjoyable. | ||
| The Nanny Diaries: A Novel | ||
![]() | "very funny!!" | 2005-08-05 |
| A friend lent this book to me in a huge bag of books, its the first one i picked to read, out of about 20 chick-lit books. I'm not very much a fan of children, so I didnt know if I'd be able to get into it. But it was written very well, fast paced, and extremely funny! I found myself reading it at lunch at work, every chance i got. People would hear me laughing and ask what the heck i was reading that was so entertaining. I'd recommend this as a good beach read. | ||
