| I have been using the 4GB stick for almost a year now. It has worked flawlessly in every computer I have tried. Fast and reliable. (I had a different experience with the 32GB version of this same model.) | ||

![]() | "Looks like Vista, but operates like XP (which is good on both counts)" | 2009-11-10 |
| We have several computers in our house and had been running XP just fine for a number of years. We upgraded our computers this year and they came loaded with Vista and a free upgrade to Win 7. Vista looks beautiful, but constantly crashed and had tons of errors.
We got the upgrade DVDs this past weekend and easily upgraded several computers to Win 7 HP. This has the good looks of Vista and the stability of XP. All of my accessories work perfectly with Win 7. The upgrade even automatically downloaded the updated drivers. So far, several days in, no problems at all. Although Win 7 seems a bit faster than Vista did, I do not notice any decrease in the start-up time.
| Beltronics (Bel) Pro RX65 Radar Detector (Red Display) | ||
![]() | "Great for radar, but not much help for laser" | 2009-10-29 |
| This is essentially the windshield version of the Bel rx75 plus - which is the built in hardwired unit. The major difference in function is that this unit only detects laser and does not do anything to block it. In fact, the laser detection is fairly weak since it is up on the windshield, not on the front bumper where the laser is pointed.
The radar detection is very very good with very few false alarms. You can deactivate specific bands if you want (such as X which is rarely used and can cause most false alarms.)

![]() | "Works perfectly on my 2010 Honda Pilot" | 2009-10-29 |
| I have been a fan (and owner) of Thule products for well over a decade. These feet work very well on the factory Honda Pilot roof rails (09/10). I was a bit concerned about the rubber strap that wraps under the bottom, but it seems to be VERY thick and durrable - no concerns anymore. Unlike some of my old Thule feet, these engaged very easily with the load boars and the simple allen screw tightened everything up very smoothly.
Note that these are only for the square load bars, not the aero ones. The end caps have a knock out for the Thule locks - which not included with the feet.

![]() | "Basically a bucket that they can sit on - PERFECT!" | 2009-10-15 |
| This is perfect for my 20 month old. She can sit on it on her own. It is VERY small. Imagine a gallon of milk cut in half. My daughter is small for her age and it fits her perfectly. There is no problem emptying it. We just add a small amount of water and dump it in the toilet. Then a quick rinse and dump that in the toilet. This is much better than seats on the real toilet that she feels uncomfortable on. She is relaxed on this and that makes all of the difference. It is perfect for us, but be aware it is small. | ||
![]() | Nikon DX AF-S Nikkor 35mm F1.8G Lens (for Nikon DX Digital SLR Cameras)
![]() | "Great lens to compliment my new D3000" | 2009-10-05 |
| I bought a new D3000 with the 18-55mm lens, but my photos were coming out dark or the camera was selecting a high ISO (with lots of noise) or a slow shutter speed (with lots of blur). This lens was the easy answer. At a 1.8, it lets in tons of light so I can shoot indoors without flash at 400 ISO and a reasonable shutter speed. The lack of a zoom really doesn't effect anything because the camera's image sensor is detailed enough that I can always zoom and crop on the computer without losing any quality.
The quality of the lens is A+ in my book, although I am a novice. It comes with a hood, a case and real front/back caps. When I was a photography student back in the film days, we always started with a 50mm lens. On a digital camera, that translates to a 35mm lens. If you only own one lens in addition to the 18-55 one that came on your camera, this is the one you should own. The f/1.8 makes all the difference in the world.
| TIFFEN 37mm UV Protector Filter | ||
![]() | "Seems to be good quality, but mine arrived with dust on it" | 2009-10-01 |
| This seems to be a fairly basic cover for your expensive lens. Simply, this is good insurance. The optics looks perfectly fine to me. I can discern absolutely zero difference between photos taken with - and without - the filter applied. That said, the filter arrived covered in white dust and I was suprised that they didn't include a cheap lens wipe in the package. | ||
| NIKON MLL3 Remote Control Transmitter for Nikon Camera | ||
![]() | "One button does what it is supposed to do - Works with D3000" | 2009-10-01 |
| This remote is VERY small and does exactly what it is supposed to do. It works perfectly with my new D3000. The range seems to be very long. I have had it work as far as 100 feet away. It is perfect for group shots. On my camera I can set it so that the photo is taken immediately when the button is pushed, or two seconds later (so you can get the remote out of the shot). This is also very useful for very slow shutter speeds.
It comes with a battery and a small case (that could fit on the camera strap). There is a plastic strip that needs to be removed from the battery so it can make contact. It does not have a "half-push" like the camera shutter. This thing is very small and can be easily misplaced. It is only slightly larger than a SD card. I imagine there is no way to pair this with a specific camera, if you have several nearby all set to remote shutter.

| EtherFast 5-Port 10/100 Workgroup Switch - EZXS55W | ||
![]() | "Works perfectly - even for the technophobic" | 2009-09-22 |
| This switch does exactly what I needed it to. It is small and easy to set up. Ethernet cable goes in and five more come out. The AC plug is not a huge strip hoging brick. It took zero configuration to get it to work perfectly.
I have a long ethernet cable that runs from the cable modem/router in the atic to my computer in my den. I plug that cable into this switch and then two cables come out to my computer and printer. Now everything is networked with my wireless devices. It is exactly what I wanted. I might even get a networked hard drive now that I have the switch in my den. The price on Amazon is really good too. I was going to buy this used on ebay, but found it here for just a few bucks more brand new. It has been running for a few weeks and I have not had any problems with it whatsoever. A+ product.
![]() | Logitech Wireless Presenter R400 (910-001354)
![]() | "Works perfectly without fail" | 2009-09-21 |
| This is a great item. It does exactly what it says it will. You get back and forward buttons, as well as buttons to start the presentation and to blank (or unblank) the screen. There is also a laser pointer.
It is small and runs on two standard batteries. The doggle stores in the base and the whole think comes with a case. My XP laptop running Powerpoint 2003 recognized it instantly and required zero configuration. My only complaint is that the laser pointer is fairly weak and does not show up very clearly in a bright room. I also wish the technology were there to allow it to communicate without a doggle. Bluetooth? Probably not enough range. What about Wifi? Can Wifi make this sort of connection? In any event, this works really well and I would wholeheartedly recommend it. One important thing is that it is small enough to fit in your palm and you can fairly easily hide it from view. Also, I have not noticed any interference with wireless mics.
| Aspen Natural Table and Chair Set | ||
![]() | "Excellent table and chairs for projects" | 2009-09-01 |
| My 18 month old daughter needed a place to start coloring and doing fingerpainting. This is perfect. The chairs and table are very sturdy and the chairs even hold a full adult's weight (although they are very small). The surfaces are all high gloss, so most things just wipe off very easily - even crayon. I taped some rosin paper to the table top, so it is protected and she can make a mess without worrying about it.
Easy assembly. Great value. Stop looking. Buy this one.
| Garmin Forerunner 405 GPS Sports Watch (Green) | ||
![]() | "Works great, but has four negatives" | 2009-07-15 |
| I have been using this for awhile now and am posting this review of the Forerunner 405 in Black. Mine came with the heart rate monitor, the ANT+ USB stick, and the charger. First the negatives: 1) the watch band may be uncomfortable for those with small wrists. The inch above and below the face are hard and inflexible. For most people, the fit will be acceptable. For those with thin or very thick wrists, the band will not fit comfortably. I would highly recommend you try this on in person before purchasing. My wife is a normal sized female and finds the band acceptable, but just barely so. 2) The altitude is inaccurate. It uses GPS to tell you the altitude, and that is used to measure % grade increases and decreases, and a handful of other measurements. I can only say that it is inaccurate - sometimes very inaccurate - to the point the information based on altitude is useless. It seems many others have found this same issue to be a problem. For example, I am running up a 1/2 mile long hill and a couple of minutes into the hill it still says the current grade is -2%. That can't be correct. 3) The battery life is limited. The stats say the battery will last 8 hours with the GPS on. That is probably just about correct. Overnight, without the GPS on, or any activity at all, it loses about 30% of its charge. This means that you always need to keep the charger with you - even when traveling and competing in early morning races. 4) Why is this not waterproof? It just seems silly that they couldn't give this a better waterproof rating. It is something like one meter for 30 minutes - swimming is not advised. Come on! One nice route I run has me end at the beach and I love to go for a dip at the end. A sport watch should be waterproof to at least 100 feet. Enough said. The positives: 1) This is completely customizable. There are four customizable screens of information with three items available on each screen. You can choose exactly what you want and where you want it. 2) The technical glitches encountered by some were not experienced by me. I was able to load the software from the website and use all of the functions without issue on my XP SP2 computer. 3) The maping and statistical software on the computer end are really cool! I especially like the playback feature that tracks you along the map while providing all of your stats (and you can select which stats are shown). 4) The watch does not have maps and does not work like the GPS in your car. That said, you can load a "course" (need a fair amount of technical know-how to do this) and the watch will point you in the correct direction. It will also always point you back to the start of your run (as the crow flies). This is useful when running in parks and the like where you can get a bit disoriented on the trails. | ||

| HP Color LaserJet 2600N Printer | ||
![]() | "Great printer - not for photos" | 2009-06-19 |
| We have had this printer for a few years. I actually bought a second because it was cheeper than replacing all of the tonors. The best part is that it comes with full versions of all of the different color tonors. It is pretty fast, has pleanty of memory and the print quality is terrific. I never had a paper jam or any problem at all. The only weird thing is that it randomly goes through some type of a priming procedure that can be a bit loud in the middle of the night. There is a newer model that I would probably buy next time, but there really was nothing wrong with this one. Oh, don't forget it is quite large. | ||
| Boon, Flair Pedestal Highchair with Pneumatic Lift | ||
![]() | "Stop looking. Buy this one. You will NOT regret it." | 2009-06-17 |
| This is the best high chair out there. Why? I'll tell you. 1) it is ridiculously easy to clean - a sponge easily gets everything very quickly. There are no cushions to absorb the mess or crevices for things to hide. 2) the tray is just the right size. It is very easy to handle when putting in and out. Other chairs have eneormous tables that are impossible to menuver. The inserts for this are roughly the same size as a large dinner plate - they fit in the dishwasher and the sink easily. Mine came with two inserts. 3) the footprint is much smaller than other high-chairs - it can be pushed up to the table and rolled around the house with almost no effort. 4) it is an attractive chair - not some monstrosity that makes your house ugly. My daughter loves her chair. I obviously can't say enough about it. I really can't understand why anyone would buy anything else. After seeing this in our house, several people have bought it to replace the chair they already owned. The only negative thing I could possibly say about it is that at the highest setting it is a tiny bit wobbly - nothing even close to unsafe - just not rock solid. We almost never use the foot brake and just leave it to roll around the house. The wheels are great. Once you buy this you will think everyone who owns the big ugly cushioned chairs is nuts. | ||

![]() | "owned for a few years, just bought another for my office" | 2009-06-16 |
| I have owned this for a few years at home and just bought another for my office at work. The key response is great and the mouse feels terrific in the hand. For some reason the feature buttons stoped working after a few months, but reinstalling the software seems to have fixed that. Tilting the mouse wheel can browse back and forward. There are enough other buttons on the keyboard to do everything you really need - especially mute the sound. Battery life is reasonable and wireless range is all you should really need for a desktop set-up. I am very happy with the purchase - so happy I bought another set-up for my office. | ||
| Smartparts SP1200 12.1-Inch Digital Picture Wood Frame | ||
![]() | "Need a frame - buy this one - it is a no-brainer" | 2009-06-03 |
| I have already bought and returned several digital frames. This one is the hands down best one around. The screen has great resolution. Your photos will look very sharp. The boarder is real wood - not plastic or cheep metal. It looks great. The random feature is much better than is found on many others and the price is, well, from Amazon really good. I cannot find a single fault to this frame. I think most of the technical problems people have been having are based on the files they are asking this frame to display. It only shows jpg images, so don't bother with other formats. It also works best with smaller file sizes. I used the free microsoft XP tool called "image resizer" (google it) to resize the files on my SD card to 1200 x 800 - you could probably go smaller without loss of quality. Each image is about 100k and the frame has no problems at all displaying them quickly. This would be a great Father's Day gift. Just add the memory card full of family photos. | ||

![]() | "Had it for two years - nothing bad to say about it" | 2009-06-03 |
| This is a great vac. I've had it for two years and the single problem we had with an attachment falling off was immediately rectified by customer service (who overnighted us a replacement part for free). The suction is amazing and we are always a little wierded out by how much dirt - dirt we didn't realize was there - it picks up. The only negative - and it really isn't a negative at all - is that the hose attachment can be a bit cumbersome to operate, however, once you learn how to use it, it works fine. Overall, we have had it for two years and have been very happy with it. I can't really reconsile the negative reviews. Maybe people don't like spending so much for a vacuum. I have no idea. We used to replace our cheepo vacuums every year or so. This will certainly last a long time and works better than any other canister or upright vac we have ever had in the past. | ||
| Nikon D3 12.1MP FX Digital SLR Camera (Body Only) | ||
![]() | "Review from someone who didn't pay for the camera" | 2009-05-22 |
| There is a tendency for people to always give good reviews to things they paid a ton of money for. My father in law owns this camera and paid for it. He and I are both pretty avid photographers and he let me borrow the D3 for a few days. There is no doubt that this camera takes very high quality photos, but its size and weight gets in the way. I'm not going to dwell on the details. You can look up the specs yourself. The major benefit from this camera is that its image sensor is very sensitive to light. That means you can get away with better f-stops than you could otherwise. The color is richer and you can avoid artificial light in most indoor situations. This thing is HEAVY. Nobody should buy it online without holding one first. I am an average size guy and am pretty athletic. My wrist was killing me after holding this for a couple of hours. Add a large zoom lense and it is impossible. My advice would be that anyone purchasing this find one to borrow or rent before paying big money for it. You might find that you don't like it. I can say that for 99% of my shooting, I would probably never chose this camera over others half its price. For average hobyists, there is absolutely no reason to buy this. In fact, some of the detailed settings can be so confusing - it is difficult to take good photos at first. If you are a pro - or simply must have the top of the line camera - the picture quality you will eventually get from this will not disappoint. | ||
