![]() | "Great wireless mouse!" | 2009-10-16 |
| This is a great wireless mouse. It works reliably and has as many configurable buttons as I would ever want. The scroll wheel feels pretty nice and has a smooth and a tactile setting that stays locked (unlike prior Logitech mouse versions where it would click out of the setting randomly).
This mouse comes with a nice SANYO eneloop 4 Pack AA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries AA rechargeable battery pre-installed, which was a welcomed surprise as this is a really good rechargeable battery. The battery doesn't last a super long time between charges however it's easy to charge the mouse while using it via the included USB charging cable (so what if it becomes a 'wired' mouse for the couple of hours it's charging). I get a couple of weeks between charges, with very heavy full time computer usage. This mouse is definitely better than previous Logitech wireless mice. It feels comfortable, looks cool and works well. The only reason I'm not giving it a full 5 stars is because it's a bit expensive.
| Channellock 958 6" Wire Stripper and Cutter | ||
![]() | "A great tool for the price" | 2009-09-24 |
| After using a multi wire stripper tool for years that I got from a nationwide radio chain back when I was in high school (I'm almost 40 now), this tool is a complete god send! I'm not a professional or anything but do do my share of things like creating my own speaker wires to custom lengths and other home theater and stereo tasks around the house.
This is so fun, more comfortable and easier to use than my prior one. The handle plastic is not sliding off like the old tool either. I threw the old one away and was happy to do so. after getting this.

![]() | "The best Massive Attack album" | 2009-09-12 |
| This is simply the best Massive Attack album. If you only get one of their albums, make it this one. It's hard to explain the vibe of this album but it's very cool indeed, more so than their other albums. I guess I would say it's a real smart album. | ||
| Moby - I Like to Score | ||
![]() | "This is Moby's best album" | 2009-09-04 |
| This is Moby's best album. I think when he doesn't sing it's a lot better. This is a great album! | ||
| Enigma - Voyageur (Special Package) | ||
![]() | "Sorta different but still great" | 2009-08-22 |
| I really dig this Enigma album because Michael Cretu doesn't spend a lot of time singing lead vocals, it's mostly instrumental although he does sign lead vocal on some tracks. While he's a great musician and arranger/recorder his strong point is not his vocals unfortunately. This album rocks more than any other Enigma album and most of the tracks have a great bass line that will sure to get you grooving and give your speakers a work out. | ||
| Miles Davis - Birth of the Cool | ||
![]() | "Great album but I wish it was in stereo" | 2009-08-18 |
| This is a great classic album. My only complaint is that it would be so much better in stereo (it's a mono recording). | ||
| Miles Davis - The Complete Birth of the Cool | ||
![]() | "Get the single CD instead=better remaster" | 2009-08-18 |
| The other version of this available on Amazon, single CD is a newer remaster from 2000 instead of 1998. Even though this version includes a 2nd CD of live tracks, if you prefer the best studio recording you can get, I recommend the other one. That's not to say this one is bad though.
Also, this version has talking on the live CD. While that's nice from a historical perspective, it does take you out of the music. Note this is a mono recording, not stereo.
| Denon AH-D5000 Reference Headphones | ||
![]() | "Phenomenal headphones!" | 2009-07-30 |
| These are absolutely wonderful headphones and my favorite of all the ones I've tried by far. They offer you a sound that is even better than open-air type headphones (great sound stage and separation etc), yet without any of the negatives of an open-air design like sound leakage and lack of isolation. Until now, such a headphone didn't exist because many closed ear headphones don't have such a good sound stage as these Denons. The bass on these headphones is amazingly great yet they don't sound muddy at all and the midrange and highs are all very pleasant. Listening to these headphones really feels like candy for the ears. These are also the most comfortable headphones ever. I find myself wearing them even when I'm not listening to something sometimes; they are that comfy! Further, these headphones look wonderful with the nice mahogany wood outer ear cups that match the sliver and black parts perfectly. Very classic yet modern design! They sound great plugged directly into my iPhone and computer but really bloom when using a headphone amp. Either way though, they still sound great. The only negative I can think of is that it doesn't come with a case, bag or stand of any kind. For this price, it really should. Denon has created a winner with the AH-D5000 headphones. They can be used for any type of music and for spoken word programs as well as movies. They provide good isolation, yet add the benefit of an open-air type of sound, without the negatives of that type of headphone. I recommend these headphones highly and they are a complete and total step up from other headphones I've tried or owned such as the Sony MDR7506 Professional Large Diaphragm Headphone and Sennheiser HD-595 Premier Headphone. | ||
| Grado Extension Cable 4.57m (15 ft) Headphone Extension Cable | ||
![]() | "Great headphone extension cable" | 2009-07-30 |
| This is a great quality headphone extension cable that should last you years if not decades. While it's a bit pricey, it is very sturdy and does not degrade the sound quality at all. The only reason I'm not giving it a full 5 stars is because it's a bit pricey. | ||
| Sony MDR-V6 Monitor Series Headphones with CCAW Voice Coil | ||
![]() | "Faulty ear pads make these annoying" | 2009-07-19 |
| These are okay headphones for the money but the earpads are totally faulty; they don't last very long, which is really annoying. I had to replace them at least once a year, at additional cost and frustration because they split open. While you can buy replacement ear pads it is really a pain to install them. Sony simply needs to make more durable ear pads. The other thing is that they cook your ears. After a while wearing these, your ears start to feel really hot. The ear pads also press against your ears so they start hurting after wearing these for a while. These are not made for long listening periods unfortunately. These headphones look cool and provide fairly good isolation and good sound quality over the entire frequency range. They are the same as the more expensive MDR-7506 models except these don't say "Professional" on them and have less of a warranty. For the price, these headphones are fairly comfortable (but not the most comfy headphones available), and they sound pretty good although I've certainly heard better. There is little to no sound leakage and they provide good isolation in a foldable design that looks cooler than most other headphones. I would say these are good entry-level monitoring headphones (for audio engineers, DJs, etc.). For music lovers, they are certainly usable but you won't get that 'tickle me ears' type of 'Wow!' feeling from the sound out of them like with some other higher end headphones. If it wasn't for the truly faulty ear pads, I would give these a higher rating. | ||
| Sennheiser HD-595 Premier Headphones | ||
![]() | "Very comfortable headphones with a few negatives" | 2009-07-18 |
| These are simply the most comfortable headphones I have ever tried! This is mainly because they fit over your entire ear and do not press against them (which can become uncomfortable if you wear headphones for longer than about an hour). They are also very light and since they are an open design, your ears do not get all hot and sweaty, which makes many headphones unwearable for long periods of time. In addition to music, I also use these often for watching movies on my home theater setup (at night when I don't want to bother the neighbors). The fact that they are completely comfortable to wear and allow my ears to breathe means my ears don't feel fatigued after the movie is over like they did with my other headphones. The audio quality is very nice-nuanced yet accurate, without over accentuated artificial bass. Yet, feed these something that is bass heavy and you will feel it! They have a very nice natural sound with a great sound stage and separation. I often feel like I'm in the first few rows of a concert when listening to music on these. These provide no isolation from outside noises which make these headphones only suitable to use at home. Likewise, others around you will also hear your music playing through these. That's okay though since I have a good set of earbuds that I use when out and about or in the library, etc. The Sennheiser 595s are e a bit bulky looking and the mini 1/8" adapter is about 2 inches long and should have been a cable instead. I had to buy a separate Grado cable adapter to use with these instead. Using the included adapter will strain your headphone jack on whatever device you are plugging into. These also do not come with any case or bag. For this price, they really should! I also have some Sony MDR-7506 headphones at half the cost of these. The Sonys actually sounded pretty good but not nearly as satisfying; not as good separation and more harsh highs and mids, less of a 'tickle my ears' and more of a 'flat' non-defined sound. I dislike the flawed ear pad design on the Sonys which necessitate replacing the ear pads about once a year. These Sennheisers have great fabric ear pads that while replaceable, seem like they will last the life of the product. The Sennheiser ear pads go over my entire ear so are totally comfortable to wear all day long. Whereas the Sonys did not fit as well over my ear so were not as quite as comfy. The Sennheiser 595s are also quite efficient-you can plug them directly into devices such as your computer, iPod, iPhone, portable CD player and they sound great! They are purpose built headphones to provide you the best audio quality and comfort. If you need audio isolation, these would not be the model for you but if you are like me and have earbuds for when you are out and want a really satisfying musical experience and great comfort, I can highly recommend the Sennheiser 595 headphones. | ||
| Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac Home & Student Edition | ||
![]() | "Seems stable & this version is a good deal" | 2009-05-29 |
| This version is a better deal than the normal version of office if you don't need an exchange server (and likely many Mac users don't need that at all). The fact that this comes with 3 different serial numbers to use on different computers (like if you have a laptop and a desktop, etc) is great. I'm a very basic Office user so I have not tested out all of the advanced features however I can say that this version has not yet crashed my computer like I expected it would being a Microsoft product. | ||
| Blueair Air Purifier with HEPA Filter, Model 402 | ||
![]() | "Great unit but larger than I expected" | 2009-05-15 |
| This is a great unit but it larger than I expected and probably not suited well for a bedroom or office. For a living room or larger space, it would be ideal. It runs very quiet at the two lowest settings and even at the third setting, I found the sound soothing enough to sleep with! On the negative side, it has no electronic timer, remote or digital display like some of the other units have. It's also quite cumbersome and heavy to move and includes no caster wheels to make that easier. In the end, I exchanged this for the 250E model and am much happier with that one since it's smaller and has the remote control and timer electronics. The 250E also has an auto setting where it will sense the amount of particles currently in the air and adjust the speed accordingly for you. Truly 'set it and forget it'! For a larger size room, the 402 would work great but you might consider an updated model that has a timer and automatic setting. | ||
![]() | Fast Track Photographer: The Definitive New Approach to Successful Wedding Photography
![]() | "Great book, a must-read for anyone with a photo business" | 2009-04-29 |
| This is a great book that will change the way you think about and approach your photography business. The book could be considered to be a bit over-priced given that it's fairly short and you can probably finish reading it in 1 or 2 days. On the other hand, photo DVD workshops can be hundreds of dollars and I learned at least as much from this book, if not more. This is not a 'how to' book but rather a 'why' book. Instead of telling you how to do something in your photo business, Sanders delves into the 'why' you might want to do something a certain way, based on your own personality. The bottom line is that I would recommend this book to any professional photographer. Whether you are just starting out or are a seasoned pro, you can learn and benefit from reading this book. | ||
| Thera Tears Lubricant Eye Drops with Twist-Top Vial | ||
![]() | "Simply the best" | 2009-04-09 |
| Thera tears is great. It keeps my dry eyes hydrated even when I'm wearing my contacts (you can use them with contacts). I also like the bottle version which becomes preservative free on eye contact, which is a patented feature of Thera Tears. I've tried so many other kinds of drops and none of them work as well as thera tears. Note- do not use the eye drop of the type that 'get the red out'. Long term, those are bad for your eyes although they are probably fine for occasional usee. | ||
| Brother TN 350 Black Toner Cartridge | ||
![]() | "How to get more prints out of this cartridge" | 2009-03-29 |
| When my 'toner' light when on on my printer even before my prints started to look faded, I was suspicious that there was still more usable life and toner in the cartridge. After doing an internet, search, I discovered that if you put masking or electrical tape over the hole on the side of the toner cartridge, you can get 1000 more prints out of it! There is a passthrough hole where the printer shines a light through the cartridge. Cover that up, and the printer still thinks there is plenty of toner and will continue to work. When your prints start coming out faded, you can then replace the toner cartridge. Much more environmentally friend and cost effective than to replace it when the print thinks you should, even if it's not empty. | ||
![]() | Samsung BD-P2500 Bluray Player
![]() | "Great Blu-Ray player for the price" | 2008-10-30 |
| This is a great Blu-Ray player for the price. It has a very high quality HQV chip that upscales standard DVDs with quality like nothing else. Blu-Ray DVDs also look and sound stunning. It has the full assemblage of outputs including digital optical, HDMI and 7.1 analog outs. And, with a firmware update, it can also do Netflix Instant Watch streaming! Note - Currently, the equivalent model (the BD-P2550) that is available at a certain nationwide electronics chain adds the ability to do Pandora music streaming as well and is probably worth seeking that out if you can. Samsung frequently updates the firmware on this unit which is great, because they add new features. It's very easy to update the firmware either via ethernet, a USB flash drive (yes this player has a USB port) or by burning a CD on your computer | ||
| 6FT HIGH SPEED INTERNET MODEM | ||
![]() | "Great cable for DSL" | 2008-09-27 |
| You need DSL to be able to take advantage of this cable. It's not made for a analog modem line or voice telephone-it will make no difference for those! This cable seems very well made and of high quality. I did notice a bit of a speed increase after replacing my 'normal' phone cord with this twisted pair phone cord between my phone jack and the DSL modem. It's not drastic, but every little bit helps, especially given that I have a lot of AC power cords around my DSL modem. This twisted pair cord helps to reject data interference a lot more so than a standard phone cord. | ||
| Logitech G5 Special Edition Laser Mouse | ||
![]() | "Mac users need third party driver to run this mouse well" | 2008-08-19 |
| This is a great mouse in most respects (and I'm not even a gamer); it feels sturdy like it will probably last a long time and it has just the right number of buttons. It also feels good in my hand and the ability to use the weights to make it heavier is nice. While the Logitech G5 laser mouse does work right out of the box on a Mac, in order to be able to program each and every button to your liking, you will need a third party driver. I'm using something called Steermouse ($20.) and it works very well. With it, you have full control over all aspects of this mouse including programming all buttons, scroll speed and cursor movement speed. I wish Logitech would come out with their own driver for the Mac for the G5 but I'm quite happy with the thrid party driver that I'm using with this mouse. I love that I can have the top and bottom thumb buttons programmed to be scroll buttons. That way, I don't have to use the scroll wheel to scroll if I don't want to. This is just one example of what is possible with the third party driver used in combination with this great mouse. Note that another third party driver called USB Overdrive does not give you full control over all of the buttons on this mouse. I had a cordless mouse previously but the internal battery in it died after just a year. And there was no place to put my thumb when using it so it wasn't that that comfortable. The Logitech G5 is much better. I really think a wired mouse is better as you do not have to fool around with a rechargeable battery that may not last. I bet the Logitech G5 will last me years and years. | ||
![]() | Flip Video Mino Series Camcorder, 60 Minutes (Black)
![]() | "Great small camcorder" | 2008-06-04 |
| The Flip Mino is a great small camcorder for the price, mainly because of the form factor. It's a lot thinner and smaller than the Flip Video Ultra Series Camcorder, 60-Minutes (White), yet yields equal performance. The only negative is that it doesn't take AA batteries like the Flip Ultra because it's so thin. Instead, it has a non user replaceable built-in lithium ion battery like an iPod. The Flip Mino does not neccessarily replace the Flip Ultra and the Flip Ultra is being sold side by side with the Flip Mino. And, the Flip Mino doesn't come in as many colors, only a black version and a white version. I would say If you already have a Flip Ultra, you may not want or need to buy the Flip Mino (unless you really want the smaller form factor or you have money to burn) since it yields about the same video and audio quality. If you don't own a Flip video camera yet, the Flip Mino is probably the one to get unless you require AA batteries which admittedly is nice because they are readily available everywhere. I actually prefer AA batteries over an internal rechargeable battery that over a few years will start to lose it's charge and not last as long between charges. That said, the Flip Mino is pretty nice because it's so small and thin. Even though I have a digital point and shoot still camera that can shoot video, I find it easier to shoot video with the Flip Mino. The vertical form factor is better suited to shooting video. The built in software is nice and it's built into the camera so you need not install anything on your computer. The Flip Mino is a great 'take everywhere' video camera that fits in your pocket and can yield some creative and endearing videos. | ||

| If you have a point and shoot camera, either still or video, this is a handy little tripod. It's priced well at about $5.00 and sure beats trying to get the right angle by just placing the camera on an available surface. I use it for shooting videos too. | ||

![]() | "Great lens for portraits" | 2008-04-04 |
| This is a great lens, especially for portraits. However, I feel it's a bit too expensive so I can't give it a 5 star rating due to the price. The MKII version focuses certainly a lot faster which is nice however if you already have the MKI version, it's probably not worth it to upgrade. I did but I do shoot professionally and can write it off on my taxes. I definitely notice that it's faster. Now I can focus at a slow speed rather than a glacial speed. This is a serious lens in every way. It's heavy, expensive but can yield some awesome results. | ||

![]() | "Good headset for the price" | 2008-04-02 |
| This is a good headset for the price for Skype calls, gaming, podcasting, etc. It's not really meant for anything more professional or though. I'm satisfied with this headset for the price I paid. I could have paid over double the cost for a nicer more professional one such as: Sennheiser PC 166 USB Stereo Multimedia Gaming Headset However since I only use a headset with mic occaisionally and I already have some good headphones for my iPod and stereo, I did not feel it was worth the extra money. | ||

![]() | "Great little tripod for the price" | 2008-03-29 |
| This is a great little tripod for the price. It's best for a point and shoot small camera but it will even work with a DSLR if you are careful. If you want something a bit better and more versatile, check out the GorrilaPod: Joby GP1-01EN Gorillapod Flexible Tripod (Grey) This can be attached to the edge of a chair or a pole, etc. At any rate, it's nice to not have to put your camera directly down on a surface and you can use this to get a level shot no matter how the surface is. I also use it to get a bit of elevation when recording videos of myself at my computer, etc. | ||

![]() | "Works well, great price" | 2008-03-29 |
| Mine came with a black adapter instead of the white shown in the picture, which is fine with me. This card was a great price, plenty fast even for shooting videos with my Canon SD870IS. You don't really need the Ultra III version, which is more expensive. with a lifetime warranty through Sandisk, and for the price, I recommend this card. It has peformed flawlessly since I got it. | ||
| Canon PowerShot SD870IS 8MP Digital Camera with 3.8x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom | ||
![]() | "Great camera for many reasons" | 2008-03-27 |
| Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3TT44RA9ZFMXU This is a great point and shot camera for a lot of reasons. The 3.0 inch screen is a must have and I will never go back to using a camera with a smaller screen. The 3.0 inch screen makes it so much easier to see details when composing and viewing your photos and also much more enjoyable for movie playback. I do not miss having an optical viewfinder as I rarely if ever even used it anyway. The 28mm wide angle zoom lens is tops as is the image stabilization. Even the movie mode is great and I use it for doing videos more than my video camera. I think this camera is money well spend given all the features. Having a small pocketable camera that can go with you everywhere is a powerful thing. I bought the black one and like how it looks. It may provide less glare than the chrome bezel of the silver one too. | ||

![]() | "Sound great, cheap build quality - read on." | 2008-03-26 |
| These sound great but I question the build quality which feels very cheap. The satellite speakers are very light and are made out of plastic. You might say, "But these are THX certified". Well, THX only measures sound quality and not build quality. That said, these do sound great and the subwoofer is just the right size yet still totally cranks out the bass, whereas the comparable Logitech model has a subwoofer that is way too huge. I wonder how long my Klipsch ProMedias will last, I have high hopes (and low expectations) but for the fairly cheap price, I was willing to take the risk. | ||

![]() | "Not the best fax machine for the price" | 2008-02-05 |
| I've you want a good compact fax machine for home usage, I would recommend the HP 640 Inkjet Fax Machine over this Brother for the simple fact that the HP uses readily available inkjet cartridges over Brother's lame ribbon cartridge. Also the HP unit is around the same price but offers better quality copies and is just as compact. The HP also seems a lot sturdier and better made and even has more features such as delayed fax sending and 50 page memory. | ||
