![]() | "A nice quick read" | 2009-08-16 |
| No, that sums it up nicely. Okay, more words: I read Coraline quite quickly, 2 sittings in 1 day. I was very pleased with it. It was very creepy in a very casual way. I haven't read much of Neil Gaiman's work outside of Sandman and Miracleman, Coraline has conviced me to read some more of his books. | ||

| Magma - Mekanik Destruktiw Kommandoh | ||
![]() | "AMAZING!" | 2008-09-12 |
| The CD is really a work of art that, like all of the Magma CDs that I've heard so far, does require a couple of listens to really sink in. There's really not much I can add to the previous reviews, except there are WAY cheaper places to purchase this and I am quite shocked that not even the Marketplace sellers aren't selling the Magma CDs any cheaper than they are. Try Googling the CDs by title. | ||
| Horace Andy - In the Light/In the Light Dub | ||
![]() | "Another Blood & Fire winner!" | 2007-06-12 |
| 2 lp's on 1 cd. The 1st is the great In The Light vocal album. The 2nd is the stupid-rare dub version. The dubs by Prince Jammy are worth way more than the price of this set alone. Another fantastic value from one of the best reissue labels out there. Quit reading and start buying. | ||

![]() | "Some people should not be allowed to watch Miike." | 2007-03-13 |
| If you are a moralistic bore, who was offended by Little Miss Sunshine (as apparently many were) DON'T watch this film. If you enjoy the early films of John Waters and enjoy being jolted and even disturbed by over the top violent humor, then I say 'what are you waiting for a second brick to the head?' | ||
| King Crimson - Thrakattak | ||
![]() | "This is where it all falls apart" | 2007-03-07 |
| This is the first real sign of wanking overtaking inspiration.
A whole lot of playing, not a whole lot listenable. | ||
| Eno - Here Come the Warm Jets | ||
![]() | "Still my favorite Eno recording." | 2006-05-02 |
| This is my hands down favorite Eno record. A wild concoction mixing glam, art-rock, doo-wop, film scores, krautrock and found noises into a brilliant stew. When I first heard this on LP in 1979, I was a huge Roxy Music fan and this blew my mind. A radical summation of the first 2 Roxy LP's taken to their logical extremes. For the first 10-15 years of listening to it I tended to prefer side 1. I now find that the (now) second half of the CD is really where the pay-off lies. A classic. And a great remaster too! | ||
| Garbage - Garbage | ||
![]() | "One of the best CDs of the 90's" | 2006-04-03 |
| When this CD was first released in 95 it may well have been the 1st great major label release since Nirvana's Nevermind led every label to turn all of their attention to any jerkwad in flannel. What a shocking breath of fresh air it was then. Especially when you factor in the lineage of this band. And guess what? It still holds up remarkably well. A truly great CD. | ||
| The Cure - The Head on the Door | ||
![]() | "The Best Cure Album! Bar none." | 2006-02-28 |
| When this album first came out, it was a total revelation. I had been a casual fan for a few years, but never rabid. This record changed that. I may be in the minority, and this flies in the face of convention (sorry Matt & Trey) but the Cure would never make an album this brilliant again. Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me was certainly great (well, except "Walking on Sunshine"...er, I mean "All I want Is You") And Disintegration was a great (if overly long) statement. But no other release carried such an overall broad, yet concise approach that keeps Head sounding so fresh after 21 years. | ||
| Love and Rockets - Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven | ||
![]() | "The Classic L&R release. Done right" | 2006-02-28 |
| When this record first arrived, I was hooked. I was already a big Tones On Tail fan and the Ball Of Confusion 12" had me ready for the LP. I thought I knew what to expect. Boy, was I mistaken. This album far exceeds any expectation I could have ever had. A true 80's psychedelic masterpiece. The only problem? The CD reissues never were the same version as the album. Several different mixes on different releases, always diluting the stew. Until now. Here it is the original mix, in the original running order AND all of the various mixes (well, most of them due to time constraints) and B-sides too! As Jack Kirby once said:"Don't ask, just buy!" | ||

| Augustus Pablo - Rockers | ||
![]() | "Excellant compilation!" | 2006-01-25 |
| Both of Pressure Sounds' Pablo collections are essential. Amazing range of instrumentals, versions and dubs. If you are a fan of King Tubbys Meets Rockers Uptown, this is a must own! | ||

| This is my second favorite Pablo collection (Original Rockers will always hold the top spot, if only for sentimental reasons) Both of Pressure Sounds' Pablo collections are essential. | The Fall - The Complete Peel Sessions 1978-2004 | ||
![]() | "what you need" | 2006-01-18 |
| This set contains all 24 Peel Sessions by The Fall. What more do you need to know? This is, hands down, THE greatest Fall collection ever. The holy grail. Period. The highs (and there are so many) and the lows (there are a couple or three) all come together to provide a fairly accurate history of the band in a way that no "best-of" ever could. If you are still reading this, buy it already. | ||

| Man this movie is so funny that I deducted a star for the lack of extras and it still got 5 stars. And it was funny too. | ||
