Rated 5 Stars"It's the biggest MMO for a reason..." 2009-09-23
I left this game back in 2004 to pursue other MMOs. Well I'm back after 5 years off and am I glad I returned. Not much for me to say that already hasn't been said.

Deep stories and engaging quests.
Fantastic character development.
I find the graphics to be very appealing.
An old system can run this just fine..My rig can run this at nearly 500 frames-per-second. So old or new, doesn't matter. It just looks good with major attention to detail.

I've been wanting to come back to this game for a long time, and as with you read up on reviews and in forums as to whats going on. And as with you have read over and over about all the childish nonsense that goes on and how the culture just makes for a miserable experience. Allow me to dispell some of that.

I rejoined expecting just a ton of BS and to not play for more than a few days. I also expected it to be dead dead dead. Any one who has played an MMO then quit, then comes back years later knows that lower level zones are barren for the most part which really sugz.

Well, this game is very active. Low level zones have a descent amount of people in them that are level appropriate, and usually a few high level players around to lend a hand.

Now as far as the brain-damaged teenie bopper crowed. Yes they are there BUT!!!! But...it's easy to squelch their idiotic babble. All you do is right click their name then chose ignore. BAM! You just muted an idiot! I've done this for the past couple of weeks and I must say that the bulk of the chatting I read is on subject and appropriate. My ignore list is HUGE. When in a mjor city just watch the chat, you can spot the 'tards from a mile away. Right click their name/ignore. Those that respond to the nonsense? Right click name/ignore. Works like magic! Even in doing so, I still manage to find plenty of good people to group with and have fun with. There is the occasional a-hole but that is by far not the norm.

Seems it's never a problem finding a high level to help out on something you have no business doing on your own. Or like a said, groups are fairly easy to come by.

Hats off to Blizzard for keeping this game alive. To me it's all new again and fun. Also kudos for having regular events and polishing this game every chance they get.

Now is the perfect time to rejoin or sign up for the first time. You'll have plenty of time to move through the current content and come next November, the entire world is going to be redone. So you'll see it pre and post "cataclysm".

One more thing, choose your sever wisely. They have data centers all over the country, choosing one near you might be a good idea. Also choosing one in your time zone is a good idea as a lot of things are planned on server time. Go online and look up where the data centers are and go from there. Blizzard does not share that information and you wont find it in game.

Chili Madness: A Passionate CookbookChili Madness: A Passionate Cookbook
Rated 3 Stars"Pretty good book" 2009-05-12
First off, you will get more than just chili recipes in this book. And some of these recipes look rather tasty!

The chili recipes look descent. The only complaint I have is they really don't define what type of chili to use. I am still new at cooking chili and appreciate guidance in utilizing the 10 different varieties of dried chilies I have in my pantry. Another book I got on the subject does a great job with that. This book is more "use X hot chilies and X mild chilies". With the flavor profile of dried chilies so varied, I feel I'm just sort of winging it. In this sense, the book falls short of my expectations.

Oh well, I guess I'll work with the other book more until I develop the skills to understand what goes good with what.

What a nice CD...I can see where the comparisons come from. But she is an artist in and of her self. I would rather say her style is "eclectic" versus "sounds like" so and so. She deserves that respect.

Rated 4 Stars"Wow, this thing is great!!!" 2008-05-14
I'll keep it short....

We vacuumed with our old vacuum...then with this one. The dirt collector had nearly three inches of stuff in there! Nasty...

Also, it beat life back into our carpet. I havent felt it so springy in a long time. It's been a few days and I can still feel the difference.

The upholstery attachment works great. Used it on the couch...All I can say is, ewwwe.

It's half as loud as our old one...but nearly three times as heavy.

Don't let kids play with it, the hose could suck out an eye-ball it's that strong.

At $30+ for the replacment filter, don't plan on saving money on bags.

Great vacuum, glad I bought it.

It's so refreshing to hear music so vibrant and detailed. It's so easy to let your mind wonder and put your self some place else with this CD.

Samsung SyncMaster 940B 19Samsung SyncMaster 940B 19" LCD Monitor- Black
Rated 4 Stars"Wow, super nice!" 2006-03-03

No dead pixels, brain-dead setup and clean crisp picture.

The color of the monitor was spot on out of the box using one of the pre-sets.

I fired up the Color-Magic software that it came packaged with...But then thought "Why fiddle"? It looked great as it was. I can see how people can get all screwed up by messing with the colors too much (Did that when I got my TV). The interface for Color-Magic is not the most intuitive when it comes to adjusting the color. "Close eyes half way and adjust inner-squares to match the outside" Sounds easy but if you saw it, you'd know what I mean.

The only adjustments I did were, brightness (you need sunglasses with the default setting), sharpness and contrast.

It does NOT come with a DVI-D cable, just an old analog RGB cable...If your video card supports it, use a DVI-D cable. Digital display + Digital Cable + Digital output from video card= Niiiccce! It can run in analog mode but then...well you know.

Don't spend $60 on a DVI-D cable...Go to Newegg.com and get a 6' one for $12.95 (at time of this writing). Also, the monitor takes a male-end cable, check your card to be sure what cable end it needs (most likely male too). A male-male cable is what worked for my setup.

Been doing some gaming on it and let me just say that things never looked better. Super sharp and crisp images and with a 8MS....no ghosting (as some CRT loyalists will try to convince you of).

So all said and done...

Pros

1. Uses half the electricity of a CRT
2. MUCH smaller footprint than a CRT (more room on my desk now!)
3. Almost zero heat out-put compared to CRTs...I'm gonna love that come summer
4. Less eye strain and headaches
5. Better picture, IMHO.

Cons

1. The base is limited in adjustability.
2. Doesn't come with a DVI-D cable.
3. Three hours cleaning the computer desk/room to make way for it.
4. Trying to pawn off your old CRT.

So yeah, this is a nice monitor but keep in mind that I'm running it on a Geforce TI4600 128MB card. Yeah, it's not a high-end SLI PCI Express blah blah blah card, but it's a respectably good gaming card no matter what the snobs say. That being said, your quality of picture may not be as nice if you are using an old on-board video output or an ancient video card. Not that it's going to be bad, you just might not rave over it. You can get a descent video card for under a hundred dollars, just stick with Nvidia and you can't go wrong.

I would have given it 5 stars if made toast...But you can't have every thing. *Shrugs*

Lets face it, this game has been designed with systems that do not even exist in mind. This can be taken two ways, 1. You can call it "stupid" and a waste or 2. Appreciate them looking forward to systems that will be on us in no time.

I look at it like a gift at this point. I will be working it with the lower settings and as I upgrade in the future this game will give me a bit more, and subsequent upgrades will still yield a better game BUT I will have high level characters as opposed to those that only want in when the technology is there to run it maxed. I've played EQ for years and can tell you that if you come in "late" you'll have missed A LOT. The game will appear to be barren as most loyal players will be high levels and not many noobs will be coming on line to fill out the lower level zones.

Played for a bit last night and it's a whole nother beast then EQ. I like it...so far. Still tweaking settings for the best possible play quality. Lots of stuff to adjust or just plain turn off.

I'm running..

2GHZ P4
1 Gig PC2700
TI-4600

Lots of chop at the default setting (medium), most from my system and some I would assume from lag. The later I'm sure will be addressed as they tweak load handling on the server side and optimize code. It will get better on its own over the next few months I would assume (from past experience). Still quite playable.

Michael Moore Is A Big Fat Stupid White ManMichael Moore Is A Big Fat Stupid White Man
Rated 5 Stars"The Great Divider" 2004-08-17
This book is a Bastian of balance. The other side of the coin from what Moore has presented. Compare this to F911 and its obvious that Moore took the "Hollywood" approach to his move. Moore used simple psychological manipulation to lead you down the path to false conclusions. Exposed is his method of thinking; Assumptions, innuendos, conspiracy theories and items taken WAY out of context is, according to him, fact.

Buy this book and see how this man has single handedly through his deliberate "manipulation" of fact, driven a huge wedge into America. It amazes me that people worship him as some righteous person, all the while he is more concerned about counting his millions then caring about the country that affords him the luxury to pursue his craft.

Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society - The Blessed HellrideZakk Wylde's Black Label Society - The Blessed Hellride
Rated 5 Stars"Still looking for my teeth." 2003-07-18
With all the garbage that has saturated the market for the past several years I about gave up on finding anything with real ballz. I mean so much of it is forced or just some one trying so hard to sound mean or badass that it is silly, actually plain stupid. Then, by the grace of the metal gods I stumbled on this gem. I new of Zakk back in the Ozzy days and acknowledged his guitar virtuosity but never in my wildest dreams thought he could pull off anything aside from a ticked of bee-hive type solo album. You know the "look at what I can do" syndrome. Well let me just say that when I put this in my stereo, the first song was like a bullet between the eyes! Genuine badass. Nothing is forced or contrived, Zakk is the real deal. You hear of opera singers that can shatter glass well Zakk's voice could crumble a brick wall. The natural power in his voice is unmatched by anything I've ever heard. Not only that you are treated to some wicked-mean guitar work. The entire CD is good, which is very rare now days. Tired of people that sound like they are trying to cough up a chicken bone caught in their throats? Tired of the "act", the "I'm so cool, please acknowledge me" nonsense? Tired of those trying so hard to please every one to make a buck? By the sound of this album, Zakk did this first off for him self. I get the impression that he could care less if you don't like it. But that's what makes it so great. No selling out, no "laboratory music" you know "Formula Songs", no pretentiousness. Some people like to have their meat cut up and chewed for them, Zakk slams a side of beef on the table and says "You figure it out".

Rush - Vapor TrailsRush - Vapor Trails
Rated 5 Stars"Like a fine wine." 2002-05-15
Every once in a blue you get one of the Godly bands such as Rush, to release their arsenal of pure and untouchable talents. Yet another nail in the coffin of todays bands pathetic attempts at making music.

Enough venting, I am listening to this recording for the third time (as we speak) and it keeps evolving. Some thing new every time. I like what Mr. Lee has done with his vocal layering. And incase any one is wondering, yes he still has his range! Mr. Lee also seems to be filling out the bottom-end with quite a bit of chorded bass play. Mr. Lifeson has taken on a guitar sound that is almost The Edge like in strumming, how ever it is not as twangy. Its not blasting you in the face but holding to great dynamics. Not so much in the way of solos how ever.

Mr. Peart once again lays forth another lyrical master piece. You have people that swim in the ocean of ideas and thoughts, Mr. Peart IS the ocean of ideas and thoughts. Druming style/sound has changed a tiny bit. Cant quite put my finger on it yet but something is "Cleaner" or more "Deliberate".

If I had to sum-up the recording in one word, "Haunting" comes to mind.

All in all Rush is like a hurricane, you never know for sure whats coming, no matter what you do you cant stop it. You either get out of it's path or be prepaired to get blown away.

Your storm warning has been issued.
