| The finest set of headphones I will ever have... great price point. They hold their value so well that it is almost impossible to find anything cheaper on eB.y. Used ones often sell for more than you can get them for retail!br /br /I've made at least four converts (mom, brother, two buddies, and counting).... the headphones are non-fatiguing for me and I have worn them for 10+ hours at a stretch (you're right, I shouldn't be sitting at the computer for that long). I used to forget they were on and would nearly trip over myself getting up and walking away from the desk. There were times I started to hunt around my desk looking for them, not realizing I already had them on. I'm not a dummy, they're just that good ;) | ||

| I fired it up and immediately understood why this thing is so popular. Lately it's been rare that I've been immediately impressed with a piece of technology but this was an "a-ha" moment in the form of a fancy toothbrush.
Excellent. Ticklish at first but I don't even notice it now. Amazing how long (or short, depending on your perspective) 2 minutes is. I got this one for under 50$ shipped and immediately ordered the "fancier" quad-pace version as well. I've gotta say, I like this continuous 2 minutes better than the quad but I'm sure if I'd started with the quad, I'd be just as happy. Don't fret, just get this one. | ||
| Brita UtraMax Smart Dispenser Water Filtration System | ||
![]() | "This has been working superbly for me over the past 4 months." | 2006-02-26 |
| I've been happily using this produt for the past 4+ months. It is fantastic! This is the most hydrated I have ever been. Seriously. Came to this page today to see what the capacity was and skimmed the other reviews for the first time! I hadn't even thought of the mold concern and that makes sense. I selected this one because I got tired of refilling the smaller pitchers all the time and wanted something that would provide a lot of water. My current water goal is to drink a quart for every 50lbs rounding up. I'm 165 lbs so am trying to drink a gallon a day! Needless to say, I am not at this level BUT I'm still drinking enough water that I'm refilling this 1-2 times a week. Perhaps having all this through-flow of water is keeping my mold situation down? Running water vs. stagnant water (same idea for the body! keep that water flowing!) I don't keep this in the refrigerator!!! You would think that the warm temperature of my bedroom would increase the appearance of mold but nope, no problem (conversely, perhaps mold already in others' refrigerators is getting into their Britas!) Anyway, this Brita has changed my life... the water tastes great -- this Chicago suburban tap water was O.K. but in tea/coffee there was a funky taste now eliminated by the Brita. You can fill up the main reservoir and then fill the top portion too so that water will drip down into the main unit as you draw from it and make room. This unit isn't the digital readout kind, not that that's important to me. I am the only one in my family who uses this so I figure one filter will go a lot longer. Anyway, the last digital readout thing I had was just a 2 month timer, not a fancy measurer of filter quality. So this 2 month sticker is just fine. When you get down to the last dregs of water, you do have to tip the Brita to get it out. But that's only if I'm feeling too lazy to get up and refill the thing. It's not a big deal for me since it's not stuck in a fridge (although that worked perfectly when I originally had it in the fridge). But although I haven't had a visible problem with mold, I will be sure to clean this unit periodically as that is sound/sage advice. Probably for the pitchers as well! But you would think that of anything sitting around for days or weeks (or months?), water is probably going to take on the least garbage. No, this may not be as airtight as other containers (I'm assuming) and, like I said, perhaps I am drinking it quickly enough that the water does not stagnate. I really have no idea how long water is supposed to last in such a scenario...and our starting-waters probably differ significantly. Nevertheless, I feel ever-grateful to this unit and will continue to use it until it is no more or until I can buy a fancier one. ;) thanks! | ||

| Wow, I just looked up this film on a lark as I'd seen it a number of years ago... given the mixed/neg reviews, I figured I should put in a couple cents here, give this film its due 5 stars. It would be a terrific exercise/experiment/experience to know enough of each person to contextualize why they did or did not like this film. I actually typically find I like films that sprawl across cities and countries, epic of backdrop. But what was so fantastic about this film is that it was epic of performance, of communication, of a different landscape of love than one normally encounters in films. I suppose, cinematographically (sp), it unfolds like a expanded play or a focused Mamet film. I remember exclaiming, during a particularly heated argument-communication, "that's how it IS!" -- there were just so many incredibly authentic relationship-communication details in a movie largely about deceits (self and other) and truths. I believe I saw the film "Jules et Jim" after this (although it is much older) but was terrifically excited to see the fim poster for "Jules et Jim" hanging on a wall in Downey's apt. Ok, point. The POINT is that this film is ultimately an exploration of the complexities and vagaries of love and sexuality. Not that this film was a successful (or intentional) treatment of polyamory of open/liberated love, it did touch upon this possibility in a way I appreciated. Ok, ok, so I haven't seen it in awhile but, at the time, I saw it probably 4 or 5 times. If you're really interested in relationship dynamics; if you're interested in seeing communication and conversations that have an air of reality and authenticity (better than reality shows, imho, because there is still an intentionality to the direction...like distilled reality gems); if you're intrigued by the full range and manifestation relationships can take; if you love Robert Downey Jr. and want to see an intimate performance; if you have crushes on Heather Graham or Natasha Gregson Wagner (I do! although I'm not sure I can spell her name)...then this movie is for you. When we look at a film of relationships and say "that's not how it is," it is possibly because we're comparing it to the limited depictions of relationships we've so far seen on screen. The reality of relationships is that they are crazier than we can dream of, I daresay. Right? People loving people is really, in ways, a forefront of human evolution... the lengths we're willing to go to, the energy, the rises, the falls...we push ourselves in ways we would not have thought, watching ourselves, we ever would. | ||

| To me this film is a homecoming. It is a Wake Up! call. To leave this film at "satire" or "farce" or even "existential comedy" leaves it with far less practical and actual meaning than it, in fact, has. I don't think it's a modern or post-modern or pre-modern yarn (only), but a deeply relevant romp through the absurdly real and absurdity of the Real. If you have been asking Questions of your universe -- yes, the capital 'Q' kind -- if you have been Inventing yourself, co-Inventing, Dreaming, Questing; if you are interested in the Process ... if you are Passionate and/or Earnest...if you are Lost but take solace (and delight!) in poetry and conundrum and dialectic...if you are Open... then you will be well-served to pull your ride over to the side and have a gander at this gem. I went into this film knowing nothing except that I would thoroughly enjoy it, and I did. I didn't know who the director would be, the actors/actresses, the story, etc. I'm not the spoiler type so please pardon that the above gives away anything ;) I want to say a few things about the performers but give you warning first that I'm going to give away who's in it!!! Schwartzman: the only actor that I vaguely caught wind might be involved with this and, Rushmore having sealed him in my heart and respect forever, was sufficient to make this an extraordinarily important movie for me vis him (nice sentence). He is superb. His ability to portray the Quest with earnestness and delight, with committment (sp) and compassion... astounding. Yes, I was truly already biased...I think Schwartman is one of the finest actors and lord am I grateful they found a film that matched his unique abilities. And lord am I grateful I will get to watch him continue to grow as a performer. Well done! Wahlberg: I feel a strange gratitude that Mark Wahlberg takes on the projects that he does... I first found him to be brilliant in Boogie Nights... and I was ecstatic to watch his appearance in the film and the development/role of his character. I felt grateful that it was his voice voicing the role that he was in...the position he played. Absolutely fantastic. I can't explain my joy at seeing these two actors in a film together. Man, this was just Hoffman's role...somehow, when I think of Dustin Hoffman, I think that I will always think of him like this...I don't even want to get into the specifics of the brilliance of his character, the kindness, respect, inventiveness...a young mediator of the heart-mind... and the chemistry between him and Tomlin, delightful, perfect. These roles were tailor-made... Hoffman seems like he would be the ideal Keeper of the Curious. Ms. Tomlin brought me back to the days of All Of Me with Steve Martin and, for some reason, Sesame Sreet or Electric Company, I forget which. Surely, her energy is electric. I don't know if being 30 suggests I know little or a lot about age but I just don't see staying young as a goal. Tomlin has ALWAYS manifested a spry youth that defies numbers... like it shouldn't be surprising that she manages to stay youthful because I doubt it's 'management' ... more like embodiment -- I mean, while she may or may not work very hard to convey that persona, if she were to tell me it was effortless, I would believe her in a heartbeat ...like Hoffman (and Martin for that matter), her ability to be so physical with her humour while at turns wry of face, casual, determined, a persona that hides-out-in-the-open, earnest...wow. This movie was just so EARNEST! Earnestness...even (and especially) Jude Law's character, who you might be inclined to write off as a 'certain kind of person' was constantly leaking Reality, an insuppressible earnestness...something that he would reckon with throughout the film, not just suddenly and without warning. Everything is in each of these characters throughout their journey in this film. A friend of mine and I delighted particularly in the range of his facial expressions...I found myself exclaiming during interactions/tensions between him and Schwartzman's character "that's it! that's how that really is! that's how it really goes!" Wonderful. Huppert and Watts I will have to leave for the next review other than to say that both characters continue to raise the stakes and bolster the ante. Everybody in this film is Learning even while they each Know so much. Truly an ensemble work in which each character is dynamic although harmonious, still operating within their rhythm of self...that's the thing...these two women, whose characters are at incredibly key poles in this tale, show that there is range and growth to all positions. I didn't realize the full directorial signficance of David O.Russell until I just checked out the IMDB. Mon dieu, this man has been single-handedly responsible for blowing me away at the box office (or dvd player, as it were)...jeez loueez. Somehow I can say "I can see how this film came out of you" and "Brother, you've outdone yourself this time" simultaneously. Mon dieu! I mean, the man is really taking it TO THE NEXT LEVEL. Okay, enough enough. If this film Wakes you, Good Morning! | ||

| This is my first Built to Spill experience and I found this album to be fantastic. I've only read a few reviews just now but it seemed like there was a bit of disappointment? Maybe that's all I happened to read...I'm just excited because if that's the case, then to think that BTS' other albums contain work superior to this is absolutely mindblowing. I treasure this album and cannot wait to be "educated" by their other cds. Thank you! | ||
