 | iHome iH9 Alarm Clock Radio for iPod (Black) |
 | "overall great with some issues but workarounds" | 2009-10-18 |
I bought this to replace a Timex alarm clock that I would have otherwise been happy with except for two things: The time was always creeping up (fast) and it couldn't play from my ipod. I bought the iH9 after some research on Amazon and based on the good reviews this unit received. I've read through several of the reviews here and can agree with some issues but not others. The tuner hasn't been a problem at all. I pick up all stations that I expect to pick up. As I see it the main problems with the iH9 are insufficiently low volume (setting on "1" is not low enough for sleep function), the volume/change wheels are so slick its difficult to turn them, and having a single button for dimmer/snooze. I get around the first issue when using the ipod by using only the line-in. That way I can set the volume lower with the ipod. Yea, i guess it sort of defeats the purpose of having a dock, but I'm happy enough being able to use the ipod with line-in. When docked you don't have full control of it anyway with the remote (yes, it comes with a remote.. if you didn't get one in the box, like I didn't, then call iHome or the store you bought it from and they should send one free of charge). The remote gives you limited control over the ipod function. But the remote is actually great for everything else... volume, snooze, dimmer, time/alarm setting, etc. Another issue is the volume/change wheels. They are very slick and turning them is not so easy. I kept looking for something in the box to resolve this issue like rubber stickers or something.. something to give it texture/grip. Nothing is included. I ended up just sticking some little rubber pads on them. Turning is not an issue now. The other minor issue is the dimmer/snooze. You can accidentally change the dimmer setting when hitting the snooze button. Then you will have to re-adjust the dimmer setting. This is a minor annoyance made less likely to happen when you use the remote.

 | Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones |
 | "Great for Vdrums" | 2009-10-12 |
I've tried several different noise-cancelling and isolation headphones to use with my Roland TD-12s V-drum set; brands like Sony, Sennheiser, Vic Firth, Bose, Dr Dre Beats... but none have the performance of the ATs. I used to use a fairly cheap set of Logitech n-c headphones and was happy with the how they performed with the V-drums... but the left earphone crapped out. After a few months of research and returns I found these and am very happy. I haven't tried them with much else... they are pretty much reserved for my Roland set so I can't comment on general music listening with these. They are also very comfortable. The only thing I could wish for is a longer/sturdier cable. I'm considering buying another set in case they decide to discontinue these any time soon.

 | Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite |
 | "yea, too much hype" | 2009-10-11 |
As some have stated this juicer has received too much hype. I have a green power juicer also. I based the purchase of the JFE on all the great reviews. In my experience it is not all THAT. As some others have stated it will throw stuff all over the place if you are not careful about keeping the top of the chute covered at ALL time, especially when you are putting stuff in it. It will also throw chunks of stuff into the collector bin that should have been juiced. You will find chunks of stuff in your juice as well and the juice itself is very pulpy. If I want whole food juice I'll use my Blendtec HP3. For me its a must to use a strainer or cheesecloth to get an acceptable end product. Its also loud. Maybe not as loud as my Blendtec but close. The JFE is also very large and not that easy to clean. Yes, most parts rinse fairly easily without scrubbing but the screen is rather difficult to get clean. Yes, it juices very quickly and can juice a lot of items fast, but to me all the other issues offset any positives offered. I'll be returning this one.

 | Twisted Metal: Black - PlayStation 2 (PS2) |
 | "Twisted Metal 2 still better" | 2007-11-10 |
The game is too dark, and unless your in a very dark room its hard to see what is going on. I'll play it because its still good fun. TM2 is still the best version made I think, despite the crappy graphics (PS3 download available now).

 | Full Auto 2: Battlelines |
 | "better than you might think" | 2007-08-19 |
after all the bad reviews you might not give this game a fair chance. I downloaded the demo first and thought it was horrible. I played it for 10-15 minutes and then did not touch it again for a month. Just out of curiosity and boredom I fired the demo up again a month later. I gave it a little more time this time... and I was hooked. I think the graphics are great. The physics are not real-life, but more arcade-like, and I personally think they are appropriate for the game, once you get used to them. Once you get the hang of driving, which isn't that hard, I think you will enjoy the game a lot. I'd much rather play this than Twisted metal (Black or otherwise)... this game is light years ahead of that.

 | Ridge Racer 7 |
 | "Sad" | 2007-07-24 |
Let me first say that I only played the demo version, so I may be missing some important features. Drifting is hard to get the hang of in this game, but this is not the point. The physics are horrible. Arcade physics is acceptable when the game has something to offer in terms of gameplay and fun. This one has neither. I'm sure someone who loves "drifting" and arcade style racing games will like this, maybe. Graphics are only ok considering what some other, current or upcoming, PS3 racers offer. Try the demo at the PS store before you buy.

 | Blendtec HP-621-FLP Total Blender 1500-Watt Blender with 64-Ounce Jar, Black |
 | "square tapered blender is stupid design" | 2007-04-19 |
See title. This is the dumbest design I have ever seen or used. It works ok mostly, but stuff will get "stuck" in the corners sometimes and not get blended well, requiring longer blending times. The larger top portion is problematic in the same way. Stuff will sit up there near the edges because of the horizontal edge at the top. Maybe they know what they are doing. I'm not a mechanical or fluids engineer. All I can say is it doesn't seem to work as good as it could. It also blends a lot of air into the mix becuase of the stupid design. I will say its pretty sturdy and has held up well after 1242 cycles, only having to replace the carafe. I want to get a Vitamix though and compare, hopefully selling this one.

 | EA Sports 2-Player Controller with 3 TV Games |
 | "Reliving my college days..." | 2005-02-08 |
Back when I was a student at Va tech, me and my roomies used to play this (Sega Genesis NHL 95) all the time... well, maybe not all the time. After graduation I aquired the PC version, NHL Hockey 95, which I still have, but unfortunately it doesn't play well with XP (haven't been able to get the sound working, for one thing.... yea, tried VDS, etc, etc). My cousin and I used to play this one all the time... well, anyway. Until this came out I hadn't played the game for 2-3 years, but was contemplating buying an old laptop to use just for this game so that when I was home for the holidays my cousin and I could play once again. Then this thing comes along. We were both like "Cool!!" Forget the football, but the hockey is worth the price alone. I almost completed a season in the week I have had it... very addicitive.... and fun. The only drawback is that they took out the player names... but all the stats are there. I don't remember everything about the original, but it seems they took out some other stuff too, like skill level (Rookie, Pro, All-star... maybe some other stuff). I think they just used the All-star level for this game, because its harder than I remember... the defense is very tough. I really have to fight hard for points. It just makes a win all that more fun... and a loss all that more devastating. Anyway, I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of the old game... or a fan of hockey. It doesn't have all the fancy graphics and stuff... but the gameplay and fun-factor are there in spades.

 | Nature in Motion |
 | "Nice... but short" | 2002-03-25 |
I had been looking for this type of thing for some time. Sometimes I just want to give the room some ambience without actually having to tune into a TV program. This was just the thing. The scenery in this DVD is really beautiful. I could just watch and meditate almost. Even though the music is relaxing and fits with the scenery, its sound quality could be better. I don't even think its in stereo. A minor point I suppose, considering I usually run it while listening to CDs. Its a bit short too... only about 30 minutes. Not exactly a deal for 18 bucks... The makers sell it for 25 on their website. They do however have several offerings, some of which are a solid hour. For the price its a little short of my expectations in duration, but I'm liking it...
