I just needed the motivation to get me on this road to health and weight loss. This was the book that made the difference. I wish Stephen Moss would write more novels like this. This book was the turning point in my lifelong battle to be healthy and lose weight!

This book propels the reader through the roller coaster ride that was Marie Etienne's life growing up in south Louisiana. A ride loaded with alcoholism, physical abuse, drug abuse, murder, suicide, neglect, wealth, love and hate - all the issues that can make any book enthralling. But these issues were all a part of Marie Etienne's family life. The reader will find it unbelievable that this is a true story. I applaud Marie for the courage it took to write her story and especially for surviving her story.

| This is a very informative book especially for first-time homeschoolers. It was well written and very well organized. The resources listed were very helpful. My only complaint was the unnecessary criticism of classroom teachers. Unless Ms. Henry was once a classroom teacher herself, I feel she is unqualified to claim that "the most average high school graduate could produce average work in this not-so-challenging college major." I was disappointed in this display of subjective writing in an otherwise well-written book.
