Rated 4 Stars"Quick and easy to use" 2009-10-23
I had another Hoover outdoor sweeper that lasted for years. I used it so much that it finally quit. So, I bought this new one and it works just as well at the old one. I use this on a long sidewalk and a blacktop driveway. I also have an electric outdoor vacuum, but I use the Hoover most of the time provided all the autumn leaves are not falling at the same time. The sweeper is great for a quick cleanup without having to pull out a big electric with a 100 foot cord.

If you are expecting perfection then forget it. But, if you want a device that is easy to use and helps keep your patio and sidewalk clean, then this sweeper is for you.

Rated 5 Stars"Great for tile removal." 2009-10-19
I had to re-tile some bathroom floors, but ran into a problem. The ceramic tile was apparently put down with an adhesive that was meant to last 100 years. In the first bathroom I used a chisel and hammer to remove the tile by hand which took me a week to get the tile up. There had to be a better way so I bought this air hammer and gave it a try.

I was amazed how fast the tile came up with this tool. It works like a little mini hand-held jackhammer. I was able to remove the tile in just a few hours instead of a week doing it by hand. I am sure this handy little tool has many other uses that I may discover later, but for now I am very happy using it for tile removal.

There is one thing you must be aware of. This tool uses an air compressor. I only had a 1 gallon compressor which is not even close to adequate. I had to buy an 8 gallon and it worked great.

I have had other Skagen watches and really like them. Over the years I have tried other brands, but keep coming back to Skagen. These are the thinnest and lightest weight watches I have ever seen or owned. Plus, with so many styles there is a large selection. These watches are not costly, so you could pick up a couple. Try one of these watches and you may be glad you did.

I have owned the Dyson DC04 full size vacuum for almost 5 years and love it. However, I was looking for something a little smaller and lighter weight. So, I bought this Dyson DC18 Slim.br /br /The Slim is much easier to push on thick carpet. Plus, it has a roller ball which makes it easier to maneuver. Compared to the DC04, the Slim has a lower profile so I can get under a few things that I could not with the bigger vacuum. I also like the shorter head because I can get into more narrow places.br /br /Because the Slim is smaller and lighter I wondered if it had as much power, so I put it to the test. I vacuumed with my big Dyson then immediately vacuumed the same area with the Slim. I was amazed at how much dust, dirt and pet hair the Slim still got.br /br /Advantages of each:br /Wider brush head to get the job done quicker, advantage goes to the larger Dyson.br /Lighter and more maneuverable, advantage goes to Slim.br /Suction power, advantage goes to larger Dyson, but only by a slight margin.br /br /Bottom line: Both vacuums are powerful and no bags to buy. And, I would recommend either one. However, if you need something a little easier to push, then get the Slim.

Rated 1 Stars"Poor Sound Quality, But Solved The problem" 2008-09-17
I have the on-ear open Sennheiser PX100 headphones which have a good sound quality. But, at times I need a closed ear design to help block outside noise. So, I bought the PX200 headphones. The sound coming from this headset is extremely tinny and shallow. I returned them for a refund. If you do not have a good quality headset with you to compare the PX200 to, then you may not realize just how bad the sound really is.

However, I discovered that both headsets were exactly the same size. So, I bought the replacement closed ear cushions for the PX200 and put them on my PX100. The ear cushions fit perfectly on the PX100. So, now I can switch cushions depending on my needs. This is a great solution that works great for me and may work out for you.

Rated 5 Stars"Fast, Reliable and Tons of Space" 2008-04-12
I have a couple of 4gb and 8gb flash drives. The problem was that I would have to use more than 1 drive to copy all my files onto. So, I bought this PNY 16gb flash drive and I am glad I did.

I transferred many documents of various file types, countless photos, and 1,400 MP3s to the PNY and still have plenty of free space left over. Copying all these files only took about 20 minutes and there were no corrupt files.

If you have several gb of data to backup and do not want to copy them over more than one flash drive, then this PNY 16gb flash drive is the only way to go. I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 Stars"All In One Cell Phone" 2008-03-21
I have had two cell phones, but was not happy with either of them. So, for weeks I researched cell phones. I read reviews and even downloaded manuals to see what the various phones would do and not do. I finally decided to try the ATT Tilt.

Battery life: Several reviewers complained about short battery life. So, this was my first test. On day one I turned up the brightness and set the backlight to stay on longer. Then I played with it by going to every program and application. I also went to all the settings and played around getting them how I wanted. I also placed a few brief calls. Then I spent a while online using WiFi. I even took a few pictures. I put this phone through its paces for 6 hours and had 17 percent battery life left. The next day I completely drained the battery and recharged it to condition the new battery. Then I put it to work again for another 3 hours or more. I had 40 percent battery life on the second day after a full charge. Of course, if I had been on phone calls most of the time, I am sure that the battery would have only lasted 3 or 4 hours. Therefore, because of my experiences thus far I would rate the battery life as fair when compared to some other smart phones. For power users they do make an extended life battery available online.

Camera: Many reviewers also said the 3mg camera does not take very good pictures. This is true. Even though there are some settings to help improve the picture quality, I found that it really did not help much. So, I rate the camera as average to poor.

Performance: Again some reviews I read complained about screen refresh rate or lag. I found this does happen sometimes. The lag time can be from 1 to 4 seconds. However, there are ways you can minimize this. As with any computer, the more programs you have running the more memory they use and the slower the response time. Try launching a few programs then tap on the memory icon. There you will see how much storage you have on the main unit and SDcard. You will also see how much memory the programs are using. To help with response time touch the Quick Menu at the top right of the screen and close all open programs that you are not using. Plus, wait a couple of seconds for a program to fully load before you try to navigate within the program. Also, files such as MP3s, photos and documents should be moved to the SDcard to free up space on the device itself.

Keyboard: I love the slide out QWERTY keyboard. It is much easier and faster to use than the tiny keys on most other smart phones. Of course, having a large keyboard means you have to use both hands which most users do anyway. I give this feature a very high mark for convenience and usability.

Microsoft Mobile: Personally I love this system because it is like my home computer, complete with a Start Menu. I find it familiar and easy to use.

Sound quality: Addressing some reviewers concerns about low sound when playing MP3s, this is what I found. There are 2 sound settings. One is for the ring tones and the other for the device itself. Tap the Speaker Icon on the top right and you will see these settings. I turned both of them up all the way and launched the music player. The sound was loud and clear. I set a Blackjack II next to it and found that the Tilt was actually slightly louder.

Size: I almost did not get the Tilt because of the weight. Plus, it is a little thicker that most other phones. While in the ATT store I picked up a Blackjack II then a Blackberry then held the Tilt in the other had. The weight of the Tilt was a little more that either of the other two, but not enough to matter to me. Although, this might be an issue for some that want a smaller or lighter cell phone.

Voice quality: While on a call I found the sound quality clear and loud. There is a scroll wheel on the upper left side that will adjust volume while on a call which comes in handy. I also handed the Tilt to someone and called it to see how it was from both ends of receiving and placing a call. The quality was better than my cordless landline phone. I rate the call quality as excellent.

Helpful hint: When on a call the screen turns off in 10 seconds. However, you can still use the Talk key to mute the call or End key to disconnect the call. If you want the screen back on, simply press the Power button on the upper right side of the phone. Also, when the screen is off in idle mode none of the keys will turn the screen back on except one. To turn the screen back on from idle either press the Power button or slide out the keyboard.

Word and Excel: You can create and edit in these programs without Documents To Go. Then you can either import or export them to your computer or email them. This is a great feature.

WiFi: I do not text or get online that much with a cell phone. But, when I do get online then this is the only way to go. Plus, I can save twenty or thirty dollars a month by not getting the data plan. I simply get online at home or in hotspots. I also disabled the Media Net so that I do not accidentally get on line and get charged a fortune for it.

Today Screen: The home screen desktop is called the Today Screen on the Tilt. I did not like the looks of this desktop at all. For one thing there is a lot of wasted real estate that could be used. The European version of the Tilt is different. I found a free plug-in that is the same as the other version and installed it. There was no editing the register, you just click on the file then reset and that is it. Now, the Today Screen is fully occupied with great looking icons and shortcuts that you can customize.

Navigation: There are a few choices when it comes to navigating. You can use the scroll wheel, the touch screen or the navigation buttons on the front bottom of the phone. I also found that I can use my finger on the touch screen 90 percent of the time and with very good accuracy. I seldom use the stylus.

There are a few other features you can discover for yourself. I just strongly suggest that you read the manual and experiment with the different setting to see what all it will do. I have not seen a cell phone yet that was perfect, and the Tilt is no exception. However, if you are aware of the quarks from the start then you simply learn how to work around them. Therefore, if you want a cell phone that does it all then this is a device to consider.

UPDATE: I only had my Tilt for a few days and it kept locking up when in standby. It would not turn back on by pushing reset or the power button. I could only get it working again by taking out the battery then replacing it. The phone would lock up about every 2 or 3 days. So, I took it back and got a brand new one and it did the same thing. I returned it for a refund because I have no use for a cell phone I can not depend on. Therefore, I can only say that my 5 star rating was for everything I listed above, and I stand by it. However, I have to give it 1 star for reliability.

Brother HL-2170w 23ppm Laser Printer with Wireless & Wired Network InterfacesBrother HL-2170w 23ppm Laser Printer with Wireless & Wired Network Interfaces
Rated 4 Stars"Great Printer, Just follow directions on setup." 2008-02-23
Recently I bought a Brother All-In-One Inkjet and have been very happy with it. Since it had all the controls on the printer itself, I was able to set up the wireless connection quickly and without any problem. Plus, all the other features worked well. I needed a laser printer to replace my very old NEC. Based on my experience with the Brother Inkjet I decided to buy this Brother 2170W.

The Brother laser printer is very small, yet holds 250 pages which is far more than my old one. It wakes up in less than 10 seconds then prints pages lightening fast. The print quality is sharp and clear. I have the printer in my office and connected it directly to my PC with the USB cable. However, I also have a laptop about 10 feet away that I wanted to setup wireless to the laser printer. Well, that is where the problems began.

I tried for several hours to connect the laser printer to my laptop and never could get it right. I was able to connect wirelessly directly between the printer and laptop without going through the router. However, doing it this way I could not be on the internet and printer at the same time. Also, the connection would keep dropping. Try as I may, I could not connect the printer through the router like my other Brother Inkjet. I am convinced that I am simply doing some little something wrong. Therefore, I can not blame the printer for something that is my fault. Since I do have the printer wired to the other printer in the office and that printer is connected to the router, then I can still access the laser printer through the other computer.

I am still giving the Brother 2170W printer high marks because, except for the connection problems, it is an excellent printer.

UPDATE: I was trying to setup the printer wirelessly, without plugging the cable in. Bad idea! I finally decided to wire the printer to the router as recommended in the manual. After setting it up I unplugged the wired connection and now the printer works wirelessly from both of my computers. The whole thing took less than 3 minutes. Lesson for today: Read the manual and do what it Recommends.

It would benefit most people to have a laser printer in addition to their inkjet printer. And this is why. Keep track of just how many documents and letters you print that do not require color. If you print more than ten percent in black and white then you can save a lot of money on ink by using a laser printer. Here are some figures to consider. The cost of toner (ink) for a laser printer is higher than inkjet, but a laser can print many more pages. The cost per page on a laser printer can be as low as 3 cents. Whereas, the cost of ink for an inkjet can be 11 cents or more per page, and that cost can be ten times more for photos. Therefore, if you only print a few things that do not require color then you may only save ten to twenty percent on ink. However, if you do a lot of black and white printing then you could save fifty to seventy percent on ink using a laser printer. And if you decide to buy a laser, then this Brother is one of the best because of the speed and print quality.

Rated 3 Stars"Did not fit my headset. Otherwise, seems good." 2008-01-17
On the recommendations of a few reviewers, I tried these gels for my Jawbone headset. Unfortunately, they did not fit well and came off every time I took the headset off. That was too bad because they did seem somewhat comfortable and did direct the sound into my ear for a louder and clearer sound. However, I returned them because of the poor fit. They would probably work well on some other headsets. If they fit your headset then I would give these gels a try.

Rated 2 Stars"Battery life is very low" 2007-12-19
I tried several different brands of headsets, but have not found one I like. That is, except the Jawbone. I want an extra headset so I also tried this Nokia BH900.

The Nokia is light weight, slim but a little longer than most others, has good sound quality and noise cancellation. On the down side, the ear piece that fits over the top of the ear is a little odd and does not feel secure. Plus, the battery life is terrible. I do not talk that much on the phone so I tested the standby time. It is rated at 180 hours standby, but only lasted 18 hours. I though that it might be defective so I exchanged it for another one. The replacement still only lasted 18 hours in standby without using it with the phone. The overall quality was very good, but I do not want to take a chance on it going dead while on the phone. So, I returned it for a refund. I am now looking for another headset as a spare.

Logitech VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse for NotebooksLogitech VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse for Notebooks
Rated 5 Stars"Best Little Mouse" 2007-11-10
I love this mouse. The design and buttons are well thought out and the keys respond to a very light touch. Since the bottom uses a laser instead of a ball it works on just about any surface. I use mine on the arm of my chair that is cloth. I have average to large hands for a man and the mouse fits comfortably in my hand. However, I certainly would not want it to be any smaller.

Depending on what I am doing, I sometimes use the mouse more than the keyboard. Over time the paint wares off on my laptop where I rest the palm of my hand next to the touchpad. An external mouse will help prevent this. I have also found that this mouse is actually easier to use than the touchpad.

One of the main reasons I bought this Logitech mouse is because the transmitter fits nearly flush in the USB port, so I just leave is plugged in all the time without fear of hitting and breaking it. The wheel can be uses to scroll rapidly or slowly with just a press down on the wheel. I leave it set on slow because the button just below the wheel can be set to scroll at any speed either up and down or sideways. The back and forward buttons located on the far left comes in handy on the internet to quickly move to another page.

Remembering to turn off the mouse to save on the batteries has been no problem. Whenever I close the lid on my laptop or shut it down, I turn off the mouse at the same time. It is an easy habit to get into.

You can simply plug the transmitter in, turn on the mouse and start using it. Or, you can install the software and use even more features such as; reassigning buttons, set pointer speed, check battery life, wheel settings, change center button and more.

I highly recommend this little mouse.

Rated 5 Stars"Fast and loads of space" 2007-10-16
I will not list the specifications in this review because you can read it from other reviewers or the SanDisk site. Instead I would like to address some of the comments listed in other reviews.

Comparing this drive to my other brand, this drive is a little larger. However, anytime you have something sticking out of the USB on your laptop it can get in the way or accidentally hit, no matter what the size.

True there is not way to put a lanyard on the drive, but it does have a case with a hook for a lanyard. This is a much better idea for transporting because the drive is protected in the case.

The transfer speed of this drive is many times faster than my other drive. I transferred 7gb of files in less than 8 minutes and without any corrupt files.

The mechanism for opening and closing the drive is a little odd, but I have had no problems. It just takes a little getting use to. Plus, you do not have to worry about misplacing a cap.

The issues a few reviewers had are very minor to me. I personally really like this drive because it works great, it is fast and has a lot of space.

I had a rechargeable toothbrush of a different brand that only had one small brush head that would spin. I decided on the Crest battery toothbrush because it had two heads. One moves up and down and the other spins. So, with both it covers more area. I like the Crest much better. It seems to work quicker and does a better job than a manual toothbrush or powered one with a smaller head. Just make sure you change the head every couple of months to get the best performance.

Rabbit Air BioGS 421A Bio Fresh Ultra-Quiet Ionic Air PurifierRabbit Air BioGS 421A Bio Fresh Ultra-Quiet Ionic Air Purifier
Rated 5 Stars"Clean Air and Very Quiet" 2007-09-03
When I first turned on the Rabbit Air BioGP to the auto setting, I thought it was not working because I did not hear anything. I placed my ear next to the unit and heard a faint sound from the fan. Yep, it really was working. This unit is quieter on high fan setting than most other units set on the lowest fan setting. For this reason alone, it is well worth buying. After having it on for only one hour I noticed a difference in air quality. The air smelled similar to clean mountain air, but I attribute this mostly to the ion setting. The price is in line with any high quality air purifier. Some reviewers complained about the front panel being too bright. I found that it is actually dimmer than many night lights.

Features: There are 3 filters: one washable pre-filter, a HEPA filter and a washable charcoal filter. The settings are numerous. Auto uses the lowest Night fan speed. Turbo uses the highest fan speed for 10 minutes then goes back to Auto. Pollen switches back and forth from medium to Auto fan speed every 10 minutes. There are also 4 manual fan speeds plus a Night setting which uses the lowest and quietest fan speed. There are 2 sensors. One sensor detects odors and the other particulates. All of these settings are controlled by a very small remote that can be stored on the unit. The front lighted panel shows you what it going on. For example if the sensors detect anything the bars increase in number from green to yellow to red.

Here is what I found after trying different settings. At first I used the Auto setting. This defaults to the lowest fan speed unless the sensors detect poor air quality. If that happens then the fan speed goes up then adjusts back down accordingly. However, after several hours on Auto the sensors only briefly went into the yellow a couple of times. So, I turned up the fan speed to number 3 and both sensors immediately went into the red. Obviously the higher fan speed works better.

I read several professional reviews and this is what they said. Most of them rate air purifiers, in part, to the amount of air flow the unit can produce and pass through the filters. The more air flow, the more efficient and better job the unit will do. Keeping those reviews in mind and with my own experience, here is my recommendation to get the most out of your Rabbit Air. Use the manual fan setting and turn it up to the highest speed that you feel comfortable with, considering the fan noise. Or, when you leave the house, turn the fan speed all the way on high then turn it down when you get home.

Bottom line: When used properly, this air purifier will definitely improve your air quality.

I use this bag along with the HEPA washable filter and I am amazed how well it works. I use this combination whenever I remove grout. I have been using a Dremal drill to remove old bathroom tile grout and replacing it with fresh clean white grout. It makes the bathroom look brand new like I just retiled. Before using these bags the vacuum blew out very fine dust which landed all over the furniture in the other room. But now, there is no dust at all. It all stays in the bag. Plus, the bag holds a large amount of debris so I can use it for many other jobs before having to replace the bag. If you work around fine dust or have to wear a mask then try these great bags.

Rated 5 Stars"Much better than a broom" 2007-08-06
This little outdoor vacuum works great. It is small enough to maneuver into tight spaces and around objects. Yet, it is powerful enough to do the job. I use it to pick up leaves and other debris from my walkway and large driveway. I was surprised that it even picked up trash on the edge of the unit. The vacuum has two height adjustments so you can set it slightly higher when your pile of fallen leaves is a little too high. The 8 gallon bag blocks most of the dust unlike other outdoor vacuums I have used. If you have 20 trees that drop their leaves in the fall, you will need something much bigger. But, for small to medium walkways and parking lots this vacuum will do the job.

Pros:
Good suction
Light weight
Maneuverable
Picks up along edges

Cons:
A little loud

With the variety in this pack, these blades should meet most needs. Each blade is labeled to tell you what job to use it on. The problem is the lettering wares off quickly. I have simply set one blade aside of each type and not use it. Then I can glance at the new blades to know which blade I need. These blades do a fairly good job, but I prefer Bosch especially for cutting curves because Bosch blades are not as wide. However, they can also break easier.

I have several Bosch tools and have been very happy with them, until now. I tried my new Bosch planer on scrap wood and a door face. This is what happened:

1. First of all it is very loud so I had to ware ear protectors.
2. The planer clogged every few minutes.
3. The chip bag kept getting caught on the wood and began to fray.
4. The belt burned the belt cover then the belt came off.
5. Sometimes the planer would actually burn the wood.
6. Then I noticed the right side was cutting deeper then the left side. I checked it with a level and found the front and rear shoe plate was not even with each other on the right side. I sent it in for repair and to the credit of Bosch repair center, it was fixed and returned quickly. That is to say, the shoe was level and they replaced the belt cover.

I thought about getting a different brand. But, after researching planers I found that most of them are designed and built the same way. So, the only reason I am keeping the Bosch planer is because it works better than trying to plane or sand by hand.

I am disappointed with this product and can not recommend it.

Honeywell HZ708 Electronic Oil Filled Radiator HeaterHoneywell HZ708 Electronic Oil Filled Radiator Heater
Rated 5 Stars"Very good heater" 2006-10-12
I have 3 different brands of oil filled heaters ranging in price from very low to quite high. They also range in features from basic to complicated to use. I prefer this Honeywell to all the others because of the ease of use, looks and features. I have the wood trim model, otherwise it is the same.

As with all oil filled heaters this one has 3 heat/power settings and a thermostat. But, I really like the digital temperature display the best. It tells you the current room temperature and what temperature you have it set to, and the watt/power setting in the form of 1, 2 or 3 bars. The 1 to 18 hour timer would come in handy in case you forget to turn it off while not at home. Each time you turn it on, it defaults at high watt and 70 degrees. You will have to reset it to your own preferences. On cold days I would recommend leaving it on all the time and simply adjust the thermostat just as you would on your wall or central heater. This is a mid price heater that is well worth getting.

Pros:
Silent
Easy to use
Heats small to mid size rooms

Cons:
Takes several minutes to get hot

When I first got this product I tested it out finding studs. It was consistent in finding both edges of the stud within a fraction of an inch each time. Then I held it up near the ceiling and projected the laser beam along the wall which also showed the beam on both side walls. The wall was 23 feet long. I was surprised to find the measurements were off on the ceiling height by about 1 inch. So I got my tape measure out and sure enough one wall, from floor to ceiling, was 1 inch off. After these tests I proceeded to use it for all kinds of things including hanging pictures, installing a kitchen tile backsplash, building cabinets and much more. It works well on many projects. My next laser will have a vertical beam.

Several months ago I bought an extra firm bed thinking it would help my back pain. But, my back problems only got worse. My back would start bothering me from the minute I laid down. When I got up in the morning I was so stiff that I could hardly walk for 30 minutes. I knew that I would have to spend another 1,000 plus for another bed. But, before spending that kind of money I thought I would try a memory foam pad.

I placed the 3 inch memory foam under my quilted mattress pad and went to bed for my first nights sleep. When I first lay down I was expecting my back to start hurting, but that did not happen. The next morning there was hardly any stiffness at all. Even my RLS (restless leg syndrome) was a little less bothersome. I have slept on the *new bed* for several nights now and I am really impressed. It did not get rid of all my problems, but it did ease them to where I sleep much better now.

I would recommend trying this memory foam pad if you have any problems that interfere with your sleep. I found the foam made my bed softer and more comfortable, yet also supported my back. The only thing is you have to get use to it. When you lay down you sink into the bed and the rest of the bed is up around you. When you turn over it is a little like rolling uphill. Also, the foam makes the bed slightly warmer. So, if you buy it give it several nights and you will probably find that getting comfortable with the feeling of this pad will take no time at all. And if it helps get a better and more restful night sleep, you will find it is well worth it. Plus, it might save you a whole lot of money for a new bed.

iAudio X5L 20 GB Multimedia Player BlackiAudio X5L 20 GB Multimedia Player Black
Rated 5 Stars"Far Better Than ipod." 2006-01-01
I wanted an MP3 player mostly for the Bose system in my car using an FM transmitter and occasionally in my home Bose (no, not the one made for the ipod). So, first I bought an ipod shuffle. I tried it in the car and compared the sound quality by switching back and forth between a CD and the ipod with the same song on both. The ipod sounded very muffled as if throwing a heavy blanket over the speakers. It was terrible. I then tried the same thing in my home Bose with the same bad results. I returned the ipod the next day.

I thought that maybe all MP3 players would be the same poor sound quality and I almost gave up on the idea of an MP3 player in my car. But, then I thought I would try one more time with the Cowon iAudio 20GB X5L. Again I compared the X5L to a CD with the same song in the car. I could hardly believe my ears. There was almost no difference in sound quality between the two sources. The ear buds also have a decent sound. Needless to say I kept the iAudio.

The sub-pack that comes with the X5L has jacks for DC charging, USB, line in, and line out. Some people find this annoying having to plug in the sub-pack each time to do any of the above. I also have the cradle that has the same jacks. I keep the USB plugged into the sub-pack and the DC charger plugged into the cradle. I also keep an RCA cord plugged into my home Bose when I want to plug in the player in that device. For me, this method is convenient and I do not have to move cords for whatever I want to do.

I love the EQ and the other 4 sound settings. I can customize the sound according to whichever device I have it plugged into. Also, you can store up to 5,000 tunes which is far more than I will ever use.

There is a little joystick on the front that controls volume, next or last track, fast forward or fast reverse, and pulls up menus. The play, record, and off buttons are on the side. The joystick takes some practice, but is easy to use.

Some people prefer the ipod/itunes method to put music on their MP3 player. I prefer the iAudio/Jetshell. When converting a prerecorded CD to MP3 using jetshell simply click on Code and it will get the Artist, Title etc from the internet. That way you do not have to name each track. Of course, you can still edit that information if you want. Then you can move them to the IAudio. However, I simply go to Windows Explorer then Copy and Paste all the tunes to the iAudio. The whole thing is very simple and fast. Plus, I like being able to create folders and sub-folders and name them whatever I want in Windows Explorer.

The case seems very well built, sturdy and does not look as though it would scratch easily. The long-life battery makes this player a little thick and slightly heavy. But, I have no problem with that.

I have never run down the battery, so I just assume the rated 35 hour life is close to being true. (This refers to the *L* version. The regular X5 is rated at 14 hour battery life). I can not comment on other features either since I have not used them. Like the recording or video. As I said, I only use the X5L for music in my car and home.

Pros: Sound Quality, Long Battery Life, Drag and Drop Files, FM Radio, Picture Viewer, Video Playback, Recorder.

Cons: No Speaker.

Bottom Line: Much better than the ipod.

HP OfficeJet 6110 All-in-One MultifunctionHP OfficeJet 6110 All-in-One Multifunction
Rated 4 Stars"Will work very well for most people" 2004-04-06
After reading reviews and doing some research I found this HP multifunction to be the best for the money. It is a printer, fax, copier and scanner. The many function buttons on the unit makes it easy and quick to use without a computer. You can use all the functions without a computer, except the scanner. The print quality is top-rate. I printed a brochure that contained graphics, pictures and text at medium quality on the HP and the same brochure on my Epson at high quality, and the HP was noticeable better. However, ink on the HP dries much slower than the Epson. So, be careful not to touch the printed page for several seconds until the ink dries.

The installation was simple and easy. The scanner lamp can be set to turn off from 1 to 12 hours saving energy.

One feature I really like is that you can use the HP with an answering machine connected. You simply set the number of rings on the answering machine to a lower number than the HP. Example: set the answer machine to 4 rings and the HP to 6 rings. When you receive an incoming call, the answering machine will come on and play your message. At the same time, the HP will monitor the call, listening for a fax tone. If there is a fax tone, then the HP will receive the incoming fax. If no fax tone is detected, then a voice message can be recorded by your answering machine. If you pick up the phone before the answering machine and hear a fax tone, then just press 1-2-3 on your phone. The HP will take over and receive the fax. You will never miss another voice call or fax again.

Pros:
Replaces a fax, printer, copier, and scanner.
Can use an answering machine.
High quality printing.
Switch out the black ink for a Cyan-Magenta-Yellow cartridge (HP 58) and get amazing color photo prints.

Cons:
Uses up ink quickly.
Average to low quality on scanner.

Bottom line:
The HP 6110 does most everyday jobs very well and I am happy with it thus far.

RCA DRC8000N Progressive-Scan DVD Recorder/PlayerRCA DRC8000N Progressive-Scan DVD Recorder/Player
Rated 5 Stars"A Great DVD Recorder" 2004-03-08
I bought my RCA DCR8000N DVD Recorder about 5 months ago and I love it. The unit records on DVD+R and DVD+RW. It plays DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, VCD, S-VCD, Audio CD containing MP3 and JPEG. There are few DVD recorders that can recognize and play back that many formats.

The no fee Guide Plus comes in handy. You simply highlight a program you want to record, press a button and the recorder does the rest. No more setting the date and time to record.

I recommend copying your home movies onto DVD+RW. Then if you make a mistake, you can delete that section and record over it. The DVD+RW's do not have to be formatted to be played in most other DVD players.

The recorded disks from this unit play back on my other RCA DVD player, but not on my 3 year old DVD player.

There are 6 different recording speeds which are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8 hour. I have a 52 inch widescreen TV and have found the recorded picture quality very good even at 6 hour speed. The 8 hour speed is about equal to a VHS tape recording. Obviously, the quality is better at a shorter recording time of 1 or 2 hours. I have recorded on Sony and Verbatim blank disks without any problems.

I would like to respond to several complaints I have read about the unit locking up. It can take a few seconds, to a few minutes to complete a task. For example when you rename a disk or title, or delete a title, or erase a DVD+RW, it will take several seconds to complete those actions. When you finalize a DVD+R, this is what will take place: The TV screen will tell you to Please Wait. After about 1 or 2 minutes it will go into the Screen Saver. When it is finished, the menu will come back up on the TV screen. The whole process may take 3 to 5 minutes. In the mean time, the unit will not respond to any input buttons you press. The unit can not multitask and must be given time to complete a task.

I have also read complaints about the fan that stays on 24/7, even with the unit off. I have not had a problem with this. The fan noise is equal to, or less than, a desktop computer fan. If your air conditioner is not running and there are no other fans on and it is totally quiet in your home, then you might hear the fan on the recorder, however, this should not be a problem under normal circumstances for most people.

This is a great recorder and I highly recommend it.

Dyson DC07 All Floors Cyclonic Bagless Upright VacuumDyson DC07 All Floors Cyclonic Bagless Upright Vacuum
Rated 5 Stars"The Best Vacuum On The Market" 2004-02-23
Over the years I have owned several vacuum cleaners in all price ranges such as: Kirby, Hoover, Eureka, Kenmore, Filter Queen, Oreck, Regina, and more. Compared to those vacuums, the Dyson is superior in performance and ease of use, and that is why I give it 5 stars.

However, there is no product on the market that is 100 percent prefect. The Dyson does have at least 2 minor design flaws.
1. You can not replace the belt if it breaks. You have to send it in to have it replaced.
2. You can rinse the clear bin with water but not the colored cyclone unit, and that part collects fine dust. I have found the best way to get most of the dust out is to use something long with a cloth on it to wipe it out. Or what I would use is another vacuum that reverses air flow, and then blow out most of the dust.
3. There is no headlight, but who vacuums in the dark?

The good points:
1. The Dyson has very strong suction and does not lose suction power, even when the bin is full.
2. I have thick deep pile carpet and it gets the dirt that other vacuums have missed.
3. With the long cord, I am able to vacuum the whole house without switching plugs.
4. To empty the bin, just hold it over a trash can and pull the release button.
5. It is quieter than most other vacuums. But hey, it is a very powerful vacuum and is suppose to make a certain amount of noise.

Helpful hint:
Vacuum every day for a week with your new Dyson. You will be amazed how much dust and dirt you keep getting out of your carpet, although, you will get less dirt each time.

Bottom line:
The Dyson is the best vacuum on the market. Try it and see for yourself.
