The Complete Book of HerbsThe Complete Book of Herbs
Rated 5 Stars"A Must Have for Growers" 2009-10-21
Great book that gives you every bit of information that you require about herbs. If you like to grow your own herbs this is a must have book. Any question you might have is answered including visual identification because there are great pictures for every herb. The whole book is printed in high gloss quality paper and you can bet it will last a long time, this is not a light weight paperback.

Rated 5 Stars"The UPS commercial song" 2009-10-15
I have had the CD for nearly five years and liked the originality of the disc but I also knew that I would not be interested in repeating the sound of subsequent releases, often a problem for bands with a very unique sound.

Kind of ironic that the UPS commercial uses a song(Such Great Heights) by a band called "The Postal Service". I like the CD a lot and recommend it to anybody with adventurous tastes but it is not for everybody. If you like this CD you might also like LCD Soundsystem's "Sound Of Silver" another great CD.

...unless you know you will be using it soon. I don't do that much printing but thought it would be a good idea to keep a spare, nothing like running out in the middle of a print job. Bad idea!

This is where there must be a little dumb blond in me. Not only did I try to use the cartridge but went through a whole smorgasbord of troubleshooting. LOL!

When I got one that was current had no problem and did the job fine.

Rated 2 Stars"Hang it on the wall close to the floor" 2009-09-24
The router gets very hot when you leave it flat on your desk. The router was frequently losing connection to the internet that I believe was caused by how hot it got. I would recommend hanging it on the wall, leave the screws out a little so there is a gap to dissipate heat easier. Also hanging it closer to the floor where the cooler air is helps to. Seems to work better when I did this.

Not very happy with the range and strength of signal either. Had an old router that recently failed. My old router, that never made any claims about extended range, had better range than my new Linksys that claims to have extended range. There was no better connection even though it sat in the same spot as my old router or the new spot on the wall closer to the floor

I bought this a week ago at Staples and normally I don't write reviews for something that I bought this recently so I will update this review in the future.

I'm a middle-aged adult male. Ok, don't laugh I know I'm not the only one that has a few kid's games that they like to play but might be a little embarrassed to say so to their friends. ChoroQ is one of those games for me.

ChoroQ is....nah, I can't do it...was about to give a serious review but I am already embarrassed enough. All I'm going to say is I like ChoroQ. There, I've now made a total fool of myself...I hope you're happy.

Jason & the Scorchers - Both Sides of the Line/Of Fervor & LostJason & the Scorchers - Both Sides of the Line/Of Fervor & Lost
Rated 5 Stars"Quite possibly the best country alternative band ever!" 2009-06-26
In the late 80's early 90's there was a big country alternative explosion out of Nashville, particularly rockabilly. For me, Jason n' The Scorchers were the best of the bunch. Definitely a mix a of Hank Sr., not Jr., and hard rock and roll. "White Lies" is a great song but I like them all. Lost And Found is a great disc, but honestly, you can't go wrong with any of them.

Portishead - PortisheadPortishead - Portishead
Rated 4 Stars"Not many sound like it but a little repetitive" 2009-06-26
Consider my rating 3 1/2 stars.

Maybe they got a little to latched onto this style. This is often a problem with bands whose style is very unique. While the first disc pops with originality, the inability to really push beyond that style in subsequent releases will cause many fans to move on and be happy with the first release. Often the only way for bands with such a unique style, like Portishead, to have long term success is to have long periods between releases so that a new generation discovers their sound and sounds fresh to old fans. If you have the first Portishead you can probably skip this one or download a few of your favorites.

The Outfield - Voices of BabylonThe Outfield - Voices of Babylon
Rated 5 Stars"Voices of Babylon or Play Deep?" 2009-06-26
The big question for Outfield fans. Voices of Babylon shows the emerging maturity of a band growing up. Play Deep is the essence of the Outfield sound. Power pop at its best with the emphasis on power. But don't ask me which one is best, I wouldn't want to be without either of them and you shouldn't also. Buy them both!

Medieval Battle CollectionMedieval Battle Collection
Rated 4 Stars"Turn based, RTS, Casual or Hard core you decide" 2009-04-06
The great thing about the Total War games is the ability to play the game many different ways. You can play it like a Risk type board game or you can play it as a RTS(real time strategy) game and micro manage each battle. You can play it as a one session casual game or an in depth hard core strategy game that takes days to complete. What other game can you say that about other than the other Total War games?

M:TWBC with the Viking Expansion(which is a must have because it adds so much to the game) is another realization of the castle games we played as kids and could only dream of this kind of interactivity.

Don't dismiss this one because there is a Medieval Total War II. Total War II is an upgrade in graphics but is really a continuation of the time period that the first installment started. Trust me when I say this, you will still be playing M:TWBC years from now.

Sony Ericsson Z555a Black Diamond (Unlocked)Sony Ericsson Z555a Black Diamond (Unlocked)
Rated 5 Stars"Small, unobtrusive clam shell design was my number one criteria" 2008-09-23
Consider my rating 4 1/2 stars.

I had been looking at some of the new Sony Ericsson small clam shell phones so when this one came up on "Today's Deal", just over a month ago, for $139.95 unlocked US version I jumped on it. I think it sold out in a half hour. Being a man, often the only pockets I have are pants pockets and I wanted a phone I could comfortably fit in my front pants pocket. I also wanted a clam shell design, mainly to protect the screen while the phone was in my pocket. I'm not big on protective accessories, want to carry the phone and thats it. It needs to be small enough that I could forget its there and not make a big bulge.

The closed 3 inch length(not including the bevel angle which adds about half an inch) is exactly what I was looking for. The given width and thickness are actually incorrect, the width is 1 3/4" and the thickness is 5/8". My RAZR was a little bulkier than I liked and even the people that I have my service with remarked how they liked that the Z555 was smaller than the RAZR. I also like the distinctly individual key design, you know what you're pushing. Its a shame Amazon does not have a picture of the keys but the "try the phone" link on the Sony Ericsson site has a nice picture of the open phone. CNET also has a picture of the open phone and they also show it in some one's hand although they have small hands. I would consider my hands average size for a man and the phone is smaller in my hand. I have no problem with the sound quality, its as good or better than my previous phone. A very minor complaint is the screen size could have been bigger, there is plenty of room for a larger screen, but is one of the reasons I suspect there will be a second generation smaller case design that the screen will be the same size as now but fill up a smaller design. I mostly use it as a phone so the small screen is not an issue for me. The glossy black front does show fingerprint smudges easily(I'm guessing that is something that might be changed if there is a redesign). The grab, slip in my pocket and go ability of this phone is perfect for me.

I really think a phone that men can comfortably and unobtrusively fit in a pants pocket without need of a case or protectors is going to be the trend for the phone that many men will want. I can see where manufacturers also go for a more durable design, similar to what Olympus is doing with their Stylus cameras. Could see a second generation of this phone that would be smaller without sacrificing anything this phone has. The screen has plenty of room in the margins so it could definitely fit in a smaller package. Even the keys could give up some space in the width. The open length is a little over 6 1/2 inches and I could see it coming down to a little over five inches easily. Probably even be thinner.

I normally don't write reviews so soon after my purchase so I will revise it if I have any problems in the future but one of the reasons I bought this phone was the Sony name. I have always been happy with the quality and durability of Sony purchases in the past and don't anticipate any problems with my Z555. If there is going to be a second generation that is smaller then I would wait for that but as of this time I am not aware that there will be. This phone is a recommended buy, especially if you're a man looking for the same thing I was.

Fu Manchu - California CrossingFu Manchu - California Crossing
Rated 4 Stars"The best song is under three minutes..." 2008-03-11
...and maybe the rest should have been to. "Squash That Fly" is a great rock single and the rest of the disc almost feels like it was built around it. I can't help but think that some of the songs should have stayed with their core element and shortened and we might be calling California Crossing one of the best Fu Manchu discs. As it is it feels a little repetitive and dragged out, because it would have had a short total time otherwise. If you like 70's/Stoner type rock I recommend the whole disc. "Squash That Fly" is a must have download I recommend for everybody.

Rated 5 Stars"Buy it for the live version of "Green Manalishi"!" 2008-03-02
Judas Priest are great. This live disc is great. But if you don't buy the disc then you have to buy the "Green Manalishi" download. The live version of "Green Manalishi" is one of the greatest rock songs ever and I don't mean one of the greatest live songs ever but one of the greatest rock songs ever!
Do not buy the studio version of "Green Manalishi", it pales in comparison to the live version.

Jimi Hendrix - Electric LadylandJimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland
Rated 5 Stars"Thank you Beatles!" 2008-02-25
I know, you're thinking 'Hey, wait..this is supposed to be about Electric Ladyland'. It is in a round about way, just suffice it to say I love Electric Ladyland!

Others may disagree but I have always felt the the period of 1965-1975 was the Golden Age of Albums and that the amazing number of great albums that came out during that time has not and will never be equaled, but it never would have happened if not for The Beatles.

By 1965 The Beatles were getting tired of the perception that they were a kid's band, tired of the touring, tired of the overwhelming press of fans and the control of the studio. Prior to that time artists were given very little freedom to make the kind of music they wanted. It even lead Elvis to disappear only to reemerge years later, all in black as a way of telling people he wanted to make music for adults.

But by 1965, The Beatles had gained so much power it garnered them a certain amount of freedom to pursue the kind of music they really wanted to make and do something very few artists have been able to do, transition from a teeny-bopper band to a band that made music for adults.
While the label was reluctant it really had no choice but to allow The Beatles the freedom they wanted.

Rubber Soul was the beginning of that transition that continued with Revolver. Ironically, not only did they continue to sell records at their previous levels but even surpassed it. This was a big wake-up call for all the studios and labels! They realized that not only did music listeners want to hear more adventurous music, they demanded it and rewarded it in sales numbers.

What happened then is the greatest 10 years in music history. So many artists had music they wanted to make and the studios sought them out. And this brings us back to Jimi Hendrix and Electric Ladyland, arguably one of the most important albums ever made and never would have been made if the studios and labels had kept going down the same path they had been, prior to 1965. Thank you Beatles!

Rated 5 Stars"Ridley Scott sets stand the test of time/New boxed version available now" 2008-01-06
Nobody does sets better than Ridley Scott. The sets on Blade Runner do not suffer from the dreaded "outdated technology set" that often plagues science fiction movies after they have been out a while and this is attributable to Ridley Scott. The gritty Sci/Fi setting is perfect. The acting across the board is amazing. The movie is full of iconic images and lines. Leon alone has a couple iconic lines, "Let me tell you about my mother" and "Wake up, time to die" and who can forget the lines and image of Roy at the end of the movie? Blade Runner is a timeless classic!

There is an updated version of the movie now available and would recommend that to fans of the movie and this version to people just wanting to add to their collection.

Great idea, amazing writing and stellar acting. Christoper Guest should have gotten an academy award for the work he did. I just look at him in this movie and start laughing. This has all the extras that you could want.

Hard to believe that the Stonehenge segment was actually based on a Black Sabbath story where the set was supposed to be in feet and the builder thought the numbers were in meters so the set was three times as large as it should have been.

Highly recommended for baby boomer, rock fans. Others might not "get it".

Soul Calibur 2 is one of those rare games that a casual gamer can pick up and play without know anything about it. But it also is a very deep game for the dedicated gamer to and if you are one of those then this is a must have.
When you get the guide and see how big it is you won't believe all SC2 has to offer.

No other Star Wars game makes you feel a part of the Star Wars universe better than KOTOR. If you are any kind of a Star Wars fan stop reading and buy this game. Virtually unlimited replay value for an RPG, which is saying something. KOTOR was a great value at full price but get it now because the prices are going up now that it is out of print. One of the best solo player experiences ever. A Top 10 PC game. Recommended for any pc gamer

It was easy enough for me to get used to the control scheme but have a friend who has the game to and he could never get used to the controls so some will get it and for others it will be awkward. The missions can range from intuitive to needing a guide or internet help. Fun but not really breaking any new ground. Recommended if you are looking for an RPG with shooter elements but not recommended if you are looking for a shooter.

Poor recording aside, this is one of my all-time favorite discs, it needs to be remastered. "Eastern Voices" is one of my favorites and would be a great song on any disc but my favorite and one of my all-time favorite gems is "Sustain Upright". "Sustain Upright" is one of the most eerily addictive songs I have ever heard and cannot get enough, despite owning this disc for nearly 20 years. State of Mind is very reminiscent of Future Sound of London and can't help but wonder if this disc was a big influence for FSOL. I heartily recommend this disc for any music fan but don't give up on the first couple of listens. Give it several listens to build the synapses and you will be rewarded. If you don't buy then you should definitely download "Sustain Upright".

It is the only DVD documentation of an SD performance, so it is a must have for SD fans. Age and years of touring show. Mike Ness's vocals are not quite what they used to be but despite that he still is one of the most powerful singers. Average effort as far as the direction is concerned. If SD were captured at their pinnacle I would recommend it for everybody but I can only recommend this for SD fans. If you are new to SD, don't let this deter you from purchasing some of their CDs, especially "White Light, White Heat, White Trash", which is a classic that I recommend for everybody.

ESPN NFL 2K5 is the best football game on the PS2 and the guide is very comprehensive. It really is a must have if you want to explore everything ESPN NFL 2K5 has to offer, which is a lot because the game has a lot of depth that doesn't reveal itself to the casual player.

This disc is probably in my top 10 of all-time. I literally listened to this disc for several years before it left my "heavy rotation". I still play it occasionally and it never grows old. This is a timeless classic.
You notice how I did not compare White Light, White Heat, White Trash to anything else? I would describe it as punk rock and roll but it really is incomparable. Recommended for any music fan.

One of the best RPGs that virtually nobody played. One of those games that you will not get until you put a considerable amount of time in to it, sort of like a science fiction book that takes a 100 pages before you get it and then you don't want it to end, that is what Gothic II is like. To think you can get this game for the price of a fast food meal. It is an amazing value! Graphically the game is a little dated but in no time you won't even notice the outdated graphics. Highly recommended!

Wonderful retro album that takes you back to the early 80's and is obviously influenced by the bands of that time. Vocally and musically reminds me a lot of Ultravox. My favorite song is actually "Smile like you mean it". Highly recommended retro alternative rock and roll.
