Creative has released the 2nd generation of the VADO. Did they listen to my gripes after my first review...and did anything change? In a WORD - YES!!!! My review for the first generation can be read via the following product link: Creative Labs Vado HD 720p Pocket Video Camcorder with 8 GB Video Storage and 2x Digital Zoom (Black) Excerpt from Past Review: "What I diskliked (which is why its 4/5): The buttons (right left up down) are way too sensitive for my needs. " Was the rocker panel fixed? - YES - I just tested the 2nd gen and it seems that it is not as sensitive as the 1st generation model. That alone earns this camera 5/5. Now for the review: What is in the Box: Camera Battery Silicon Skin Mini-HDMI to HDMI Cable (AWESOME ADDITION, EVEN CANON does not include these with their $1,000+ cameras). USB Extension Cable Documentation The Vado HD 2nd generation is quite similar in every aspect to the first generation device. Therefore I would be duplicating the review I did for the first unit. The changes to the 2nd gen device are in the looks....ie. the ruby red buttons on the right hand side of the back and the rocker panel having better usability. Everything else is 100% identical to the first generation: (please visit the 1st gen product via the link above and view the most helpful review...it is the one I did for the 1st gen). Testing with new operating systems: Windows 7 with the free Windows Live Movie Maker - I personally am not in favor of installing applications that are included with devices. I like to run lean operating systems and use whatever utilities are available with them. Such is the case here. I used Windows Live Movie Maker, a free utility from Microsoft. Once the VADO was plugged into the USB port it came up as a removable drive in windows. I simply launched Windows Live Movie maker, opened an AVI file from the VADO and VOILA I was able to apply effects, add text, add transitions, and ultimately burn to DVD...all with an included utility and no third party software. AWESOME!!!! OS X - Snow Leopard - No drivers needed. Showed up as a USB Volume immediately. However, in order to play videos (AVI files) in Quicktime X you will need to download a third party utility known as PERIAN...a quick Google search of the same name should find the application for you in the top spot. This camera earns a 5/5 in every category and I applaud CREATIVE for listening and reading reviews on their original product. It is seldom that a manufacturer corrects the shortcomings from a first generation product. I am just now getting back into SLR based photography and thus want to load up on some glass. Unfortunately some of the lenses I want are a bit out of my budget for the time being. I wanted to get something basic for my Rebel T1i and asked my brother (a pro) what he thought about this lens. He said he owns it...while that was enough for me, I decided to get more information. He said, simply put and I quote: "This is a great VALUE and a lens that you can use every day. While it is not the sharpest lens in its category, you would be hard pressed to find anything close in this price range....GET ONE" I, of course, listened and purchased one immediately. I have been taking some shots from our backyard of the sunset...since we have a rather nice view and I love sunsets. The pictures are stunning and this lens is now permanently mounted on my camera body. Great beginners glass at a great price. 5/5

I love B&D tools and have a variety of 18v tools. I never really owned many gardening tools and decided to buy this and give it a whirl...no pun intended. :-) The package comes with 2 18v batteries, a spindle of twine, and the hog it self. Charged one of the batteries for 18 hours or so and off I went to get rid of weeds. PERFECT....this worked for about 30 minutes on full power and 15-20 minutes on half power with one full battery. I was impressed...as the 18v electric broom died in 20 minutes... I have now used it about a dozen times and my results are exactly the same.... Replacement twine is avail on Amazon and your your local big store... :-) 5/5 - Great Product, Great Value...especially for us beginners.

	Cobra XRS 9960G Voice Alert 15 Band Radar/Laser Detector

So I have been using this Radar Detector for about 5 days now and loving/hating every moment of it. I am not convinced....here are my thoughts. The box includes the detector, a suction cup mount (works well), a piece of velcro for dash mounting, a gps receiver dongle, a usb to mini usb cable (12 inch cable), and of course the power cord. What I like: 1. The unit is designed well and mounts very easily using the suction cup mount (I do not want to permanently attach adhesive backing velcro to my dash). 2. The ability to update the GPS dongle with up to date camera and speed trap information (When the site works) 3. The intuitive (compact) display that gives you basic GPS info (direction and so forth). 4. The voice feedback when an alert is detected. What I dislike: 1. The website was down for-ever and in FireFox shows that it is blacklisted by Google. Internet explorer does not show it blacklisted and works just fine. 2. The updates to the GPS dongle must be on a Windows based PC running a 32bit OS. MAC's are not supported. 3. Horrible support. I tried to call when the site was down to see if they had a solution....no response, no call backs. **NOTE: You download a small software from the website which you install on your pc..once installed you plug the dongle in and you must enter the serial number on the back of it so you can get the update... My experience: I live in the land of State Troopers (New Jersey) and commute to the city that invented the Traffic-Cam (New York City). My total round-trip commute is about 125 miles daily...therefore I spend a lot of time in my car. I have never felt the need for a Radar Detector because I was afraid that it would make me drive a little bit more faster then I do already.. That being said I definitely wanted to give this puppy a shot and see what it detected and what it did not. I finally got the GPS dongle updated with the latest database that had updated information about camera's, speed traps, etc....apparently this is updated every 24 hours (when the site is up and running). Plug in the dongle and turn the unit on and you are ready to go. First test, locally around my home where I know we have 3 live cameras at traffic lights and 2 dummy cameras. I drove my little car near the dummy cameras and no alert...drove past the live cameras and 2 of them showed an alert while the 3rd did not. I made a note of the 3rd one so I could add it to the database (you are allowed to login to the site and add updates for all users .. nice feature). Quick Note: June 25th Evening - Drove home via this camera that I added to the database and voila it actually worked...the device notified me of a camera. Second test, the police department in our area tries to be nice and instead of issuing citations they install these radar's on wheels that notify you of your speed so that you can control yourself (ha...I do live in the boonies). What better way to test a radar detector then to drive by these things...without facing a real officer. :-) - I know of 4 of them on a regular basis. I drove up to two of them...meaning driving towards them and the detector started to signal an alert..probably about 3/4 of a mile before I got there. Awesome. Now then I drove up to two of them from behind....on one I got an alert 1/2 mile before and on the other about 1/4 mile before I got to it. It works.. Third Test - The good ole' NJ highways with state troopers galore - now in unmarked Dodge Chargers. Woo Hoo...this was going to be fun...but I didnt go nuts driving fast...just wanted to see this puppy work. I start off by changing the device to Hwy mode and off I went. I drive on i78 about 45 miles one way each day and there are a lot of speed traps. The rate of detection here was disappointing...about 50% of them never caused a signal...but that could simply mean the trooper wasn't looking for anyone. Still...pretty good. PS. I did turn on all of the available bands on the unit (it covers 15 different ones). Fourth and final test, The city of the cameras! I drove through the Holland Tunnel into NYC ( I had turned the device to City mode before entering the tunnel). Naturally I got a lot of false K Band alerts (to be expected in dense areas with lots of wireless garbage). However here is where this thing came out in full force. It detected EVERY camera at EVERY light and warned me about it.... Gotta love that. I knew about most of the cameras it found but there were 6 that even I missed on my route from the Holland tunnel to midtown NYC. AWESOME. Why then is my rating of this product 4/5 (i would have given it a 3.5 if I could). I simply dis-like the fact that the website is useless and blacklisted to boot. I also am a bit annoyed that I have to use a Windows PC at 32bit to install/update the GPS dongle. I use 64bit operating systems on a regular basis and mac's when I can...so the ability to update on any of them would be awesome...but I cant hate them for not supporting 64bit...a lot of companies don't. My main complaint is that its not MAC friendly. Last but not least...my main concern is that if people don't buy enough of these types of devices, the database will become outdated and thus the GPS dongle will be just that...it will tell you which way you are going but not be able to alert you to traps, troubled areas etc. I still think the product is great but Cobra needs to work on implementation a little bit more. 3.5/5 for me...but since no halves are allowed its rounded up to 4.

We all know mobile me is not the greatest service...it is truly witnessing growing pains on a regular basis....it will someday get better. We have owned a family pack for a couple of years and it was coming up for renewal...Apple charges $149 to renew the entire family and Amazon, $101....the choice was clear. We bought it on Amazon and received it in 2 days....the box contains a code that you have to type in on a website to start the renewal process. Quite easy. Simply put...if you use the service for the family and you need to renew...save some money and buy it on Amazon. 5/5 on the Renewal pack - I am not trying to rate the service in this review.

I needed a BT headset for the longest time.....since I never used one and was getting worried that I may get busted one day. I saw this on Gold Box and ordered it immediately for $15....how could you go wrong? It is intended for use primarily with a Blackberry Javelin (8900). It paired quickly has held a charge for 2.5 days thus far (light-moderate usage). My opinion is that it does what it should at its price point and I was not expecting a miracle. If you are looking for a BT set that has loads of noise canceling and voice detection..then this is not for you. Look for a Jawbone by Aliph... The H500 is a model that has been around a long time and is perfect for my needs. I just wish it were a bit louder and thus I am giving it a 4/5. Great value, great item.

Hi All, So I have been hearing/reading reviews of this item for ever and figured it was time I invested in one for my point and shoot cameras. We have a Canon SD1100is, a new Canon SX200is, and a Panasonic Lumix Tz5 (BIG FAMILY). The kids were off and thus I figured we would be taking some pictures...so why not get a Gorillapod and see if it really works. Voila - BEAUTIFUL. This particular review is for the Joby GP1-A1EN which is a smaller unit and great for small point and shoots. I really don't know how they make these things...but for small point and shoots this particular model is perfect. It is able to hold the camera's weight and attach to just about anything. The pictures here do not do it justice...they make it seem really large. However, to put things in perspective...it is about as long as a 20oz bottle of soda...that's real world for ya. We used this on fences and my son actually wrapped it around his wrist so he could act like some SCI-FI dude out of Star Trek...worked great. We are eventually going to get a DSLR and I have no doubt in my mind that the larger gorilla pod will be something we buy along side it. Great ITEM, 5/5.

HI All, GREAT all around calculator which works well for a casual user as well as a business user. The display is large and the buttons are great for folks with large fingers. One great plus point is that it operates with both a built in battery and on solar power....so in case you cant get enough solar juice you are not out in the cold. It just works. The price is great and amazon shipping makes it even a better value. 5/5

Hi All, I purchased this on the advice of a very well known Photographer via Twitter. No names since he is very private...but I can tell you he is published and very very known in the industry. I had a Huey pro which to me, worked, but did not work well enough as certain colors were washed out..etc. I asked this person for their advice and immediately was told to buy the Spyder 3 elite. The box includes the Spyder 3, a desktop stand, a quick start guide, and a CD with the software for mac/windows. Installation was a breeze - took about 5 minutes or less. First thing I would recommend is that after your initial install you launch the software, enter the serial number, and immediately download the software update so you have the latest. Once updated I launched the software and went through the simple questions to start the calibration. Very easy again...the software told me where to put the spyder on the screen (with suction cup) and went to measure the colors etc. Here is where my problem comes in and takes away one star in this review. The SUCTION cup SUCKS! I made sure to tightly press it against the screen, but half way into the measurement it popped right off. BLAH...that's not good. The good news here is that you can remove the suction cup and start over with the spyder against the screen...use the usb cable with the included/attached weight to keep it straight and to avoid dangling. The usb cable has a weighted piece on it that you would hang from the back of your monitor to provide enough balance to the spyder. Once its there, lauch the software and watch it measure the colors, etc... Once the measurement is done, you put the device in a desktop stand that is included so that it can continue to monitor the ambient light in the room and adjust the display as necessary. I use a Dell 3008fpw monitor and my calibration was awesome...the display looks 100% better then it did with the huey pro and 1000% better then factory settings. I highly recommend this device...yes it is a bit expensive as compared to others, but it is worth its price due to to the features and accuracy of the measurements.

I bought these as they were an excellent value for everyday wine drinking. They arrived quickly, were packaged very well, and look very simple yet elegant. I own a lot of Riedel as well but I must say these are perfect for my use for every day. Great VALUE. 5/5

Hi All, I have recently switched all of our backups in my office from Tape to Hard Drive based backups using ESATA Docks and Hard Drives. (ESATA DOCK: Thermaltake BlacX eSATA Hard Drive USB Docking Station) The docks usually include ESATA m/m cables. However, in our case we are trying to get the DOCKS a bit further away from servers and thus needed longer cables. 6ft to be specific. That is where this cable comes in. I bought about 6 of these so far and installed them in docks that connect to HP Proliant servers running SAS hard drives...which are very fast to say the least. I have read reviews indicating that performance can be degraded by the wrong cable and thus I was a bit worried. However, my worries were quickly laid to rest. Example: We backup 180gb on one server every night....the backup ran at 1.8mb per minute with the cable included with the dock and a SATA II drive....the speed is actually the same if not better with the new cables. WE did see it jump to 1.9mb per minute for a few minutes.... All in all it is a great product that works well. 5/5
	9v Long Life Lithium Battery

HI All, We maintain about 9-10 smoke detectors and thus needed batteries as it was getting quite annoying to climb a ladder on a regular basis and replace them...its a pain...for me. Someone mentioned that I look at long life batteries that will last longer in the smoke detectors and cut down on battery changes (which is better for land fills too). I bought these and have installed them in 4 particular devices....we keep a log of all devices so we know when the last battery was changed and how long it lasted. I know they say that a regular alkaline should last a year....but not the case with these 4 particular devices that we have...they seem to go through them in about 3 months... They are a bit on the commercial side and thus they need batteries more often. I will be monitoring the issue in the weeks ahead and reporting back to see the actual increase, if any. I have one complaint to Amazon - we bought 4 batteries - we got 4 LARGE cardboard boxes that had nothing but a battery. A waste of cardboard and packaging material if you ask me....I think 4 9v batteries can fit in a cheap padded envelope. No good environmentally...but that does not impact this product....so 5/5 thus far unless something changes in the days ahead. Stay Tuned.

HI, I don't quite see the value in this router, especially because you can buy a DLINK DIR-655 wireless-n router which has automatic QOS (quality of service) for a few bucks more. I basically wanted to get a wired router so I could plug my modem and my voip systems in my basement away from my home office...reduce the clutter. Then use a wireless router to create an access point from another location. However, this router left much to be desired....my speed tests showed that it was slower then the D-LINK DIR-655 which is a wireless router. Also, it may be helpful to note that the 4 ports on the LAN side are the only GIGABIT ports...the WAN port is still 10/100. The DIR-655 has all gigabit ports, including the wan port...... Its not a big issue to have a gigabit wan port since our inbound bandwidth is probably at maximum on 10-16mbps (cable/Comcast power boost). None the less...this is a good router and the limited QOS it has is excellent for gaming. I would look at the DIR-655 also.

We ordered this item this year due to the illness in our home that would not leave. I have 3 kids and they just keep carrying germs back home from school....we all got tired of being sick. Step 1 - Humidify. Step 2 - CLEAN the air. Step 3 - Sleep Peacefully. The item arrived promptly and setup was a breeze. The documentation was clear and concise and thus removing/installing filters and covers was a breeze. We were up and running in less then 10 minutes. We have been using it for about 2 months.more or less...in the AUTO mode setting. The unit runs silently 99% of the time...unless it detects dust and or a odor that it feels it must clean....whamo TURBO.... We cook spicy food and sometimes the smell can be overbearing...if not irritating. This thing really fires up when it detects anything out of the norm in the air. When the heat kicks on and the dust is circulating...the Rabbit hops. Quick addition 02/20/09: We had family over and moved the unit in the family room so that it would keep the air feeling clean and fresh.... While you cant really hide the great aromas of a family dinner......you can get rid of the musty smells. The rabbit touched turbo once or twice...but it didnt go crazy when it smelled ham or turkey. :-)

I am not a seasoned wine drinker. I have recently started to explore red wines and wanted to get some decent tumblers. I came across these on AMAZON and decided (after reading the reviews) that they were worth a shot. I often drink wine and use a laptop at the same time...so stemmed glasses were out for me at the get go. Riedel seems to have made a great crystal tumbler which works perfectly for me. There is some reading that I have done which suggests that crystal actually improves the aroma's and tastes of red wine. I dont know if its true or not..but with Riedel making such a great set of tumblers at a decent price...its worth a shot. Get some and try them out on your own...you may be pleasantly surprised.

Hi All, While no one in my home suffers from SAD, I thought this product would be a quick and easy pick me up for the dreary winter months. Much to my surprise it was..... We have 3 kids....12, and twins boy/girl 7. The twins love to sleep in and often have their clocks out of whack in the winter.. This makes for tough school mornings. I wanted to try something that might offer a little brightening effects to get the day started right... I read about light therapy and figured we would give it a shot. We live in NJ....so we get sun..but sometimes its just dreary on cold Jan/Feb mornings... Yuck!! Anyhow...we got the light in record time (thanks AMAZON) and charged it up immediately. We decided that we would put it on a counter in the kitchen so the light would not have to be in direct view. It was off on the side and using the alarm would come on every morning right around breakfast time for about 15-20 minutes. At first it was a Novelty in the house...this new bright blue light...then it went un-noticed. This is exactly what I wanted...it there but it shouldnt be in your face... I am happy to report that after a few months of usage there are definitely changes to the morning ritual around our house. The twins are full of energy when they get to the kitchen and feel even better when getting on the bus. There are no crying fits and or second thoughts of not wanting to go to school. I can honestly say that I didnt believe light therapy to be real...but now I can say that my opinion has changed. Things improving in front of me in a 3 month span have convinced me that this light will find a permanent place in our home. I have no doubt that this is a 5/5 product.

I am struggling trying to find the best wine opener....so far so bad. I bought this and figured it would do its job well.....wow was I wrong. First - this thing weighs as much as some full wine bottles.... Second its very confusing in how it works with its latching system.... I tried it on 2-3 bottles and just ended up going back to my $5 solution to open bottles. If you are looking for something that looks cool then this item is for you... However, if you are a casual wine drinker at home, then this is probably not something you need....any cork screw will work fine. 3/5 in my humble opinion.

My sons, 12 and 6 are both racing fanatics on the XBOX 360 and their portable psp's. They have outplayed the need for speed series and thus it was time for something new. I had heard about DIRT from a buddy who plays it on PS3...he said the gameplay was realistic. We decided to give this a shot... So far the boys are playing it 2-3 times a day and love the game play. They are finally ready to get rid of and trade in all of the need for speed games so they can keep DIRT for a while. ps. GRID is another refreshing racing game to check out...

The glasses are awesome - they not only look great - out of the ordinary - but they fit in the dishwasher and the cabinets perfectly. I always sit near a laptop while sipping my wine, and yes the stemmed glasses have tipped over on me a few times...luckily my laptops were saved. With these glasses I no longer will worry about tipping over a glass full of wine... I love the look, the quality, and the design. Amazon price is exceptional.

Its labeled a pet cam...but it doesnt have to be for pets alone! I bought this to use in a SERVER room in our company's network operations center. It was basically set to keep an eye on specific servers that were giving us some issues and we could not ascertain if it was hardware or software. We plugged this puppy (no pun intended) - had it setup inside of 15 minutes and pointed it to a rack that held 3-4 servers. Then we got to work monitoring on a regular basis inside our office as well as over the internet. Voila - it worked perfectly - we found our HARDWARE problem and then moved the camera back on to a wall for regular room monitoring. Do NOT expect this to give you HIGH RES images...but it does a GREAT job in giving you the quality it should. If we can get enough detail to find a faulty server then this will do what it should for you to keep an eye on your PETS.... Enjoy!

Logitech has done it again.br /Excellent camera, MAC compatible, excellent quality.br /br /My only reason for 4 out of 5 stars - Price.....br /br /I have done reviews on the younger brother to this one...so repeating my self is not necessary. I can guarantee you a pleasant video experience w this camera... My kids use it to do simple videos on a MAC and I can say it works GREAT.br /br /Also to be noted and to give CREDIT to Logitech - this thing works great in low light environments...it doesnt make everything dark. One bulb and you are set to go with great images..... I have done it ... I stand by it...and I love it.br /br /Now if we could get it more affordable for the masses - we would have a 5/5 winner.

Disappointed...... I am a loyal Denon fan....I currently own the Denon AVR-4308 which gets 10 stars out of 10.... This received disappointed me ... the quality is there, the options are there, but no AUDIO over HDMI.......WHAT? Why spend $400 for an expensive hdmi switcher - which is what this becomes since you need audio to run through coax/optical. You can never say enough about the build quality, sound quality, and or feature set of Denon.... The box includes the basics....remote, batteries, am/fm antennas, manuals, audessey mic, etc... The remote is great - well designed - although the sliding buttons at the bottom to make certain selections worry me. But that is due to my LACK of knowledge on the product thus far. The sources I used to test the video output was a Dish Network VIP 622 HD receiver with HDMI Out and an old HDMI Upconversion 1080i dvd player. The receiver handled both video signals to our Sharp Aquos without flaw....the sound again had to be streamed via optical connections and was ok....(except my disagreement of them not having audio over hdmi..dont know why it matters so much to me...but it does.) ONE Thing to NOTE : If you have some sources that connect via Component and or Analog video, this receiver does NOT upconvert them and send them out via HDMI.... In other words...if you have an XBOX 360, for example, and it is connected to the receiver via component cables...then you must use the component monitor outputs on the receiver to the component inputs on your tv to get an image... The HDMI monitor output will only show whatever is input via HDMI. Please correct me if I am wrong. The receiver is solid, built like a rock. I am giving it a 4 out of 5 star rating because while it is a solid receiver with good power and great build quality, it lacks the audio over HDMI....which to me should be quite an easy feature to add since the HDMI is already there.... I also believe that in the days where HDMI has taken over, that the receiver should, as a basic feature, output/upconvert everything to hdmi. Maybe I am missing something, or my expectations at this price point are too high. Thanks All...Hope my review helps. UPDATE: RETURNED. Could not cope with the fact that this didnt do what we needed. We will wait for the higher end model to become available. Denon still gets a 10/10 in my book...but not for this receiver.
