 | Saunders Comprehensive Review for NCLEX/RN |
 | "Good solid book" | 2009-10-29 |
I used this book for several weeks then ultimately took a Kaplan class. I found the questions to be as close to complexity and appropriateness as those from Kaplan. My suggestion is to definitely use the CD of questions because the chapter questions are too focussed on the specific areas discussed. The CD can mix it all up for you. I can't vouch if it helped me pass NCLEX, though, because I also took Kaplan. The best part of the book are all the topic reviews, in my opinion.

 | Zojirushi Mr. Bento Stainless-Steel lined Lunch Jar Lunch Box |
 | "Envious lunch-goers eye this!" | 2009-10-29 |
This has turned out to be a convenient way to bring a pretty decent dinner to work without using lots of large containers that ultimately take up room in a gross staff refrigerator! I keep this on the shelf at work and for the most part the hot (or cold) components do stay the correct temperature. My main complaints are minor--if something is warm on the bottom, it will radiate heat to the top containers. Also, the largest of the 4 containers is not able to hold sauces or liquids because it is not designed to be "watertight" so to speak. Regardless, I use it everyday and people in the break room usually eye it.

 | Casio Men's Full LCD Analog/Digital Illuminator Watch (AQ160W-1BV) |
 | "Great features" | 2009-10-29 |
I like this because, as a nurse, I need the 24-hr clock and the timer and alarms come in handy when I need to be reminded to go back and see a patient for one reason or another. What I dislike is the analog portion runs a bit fast. It is not sync'd to the digital time, it is set separately.

 | Taylor Professional Freezer-Refrigerator Dial Thermometer |
 | "easy to read" | 2008-04-19 |
There isn't much to really say negative about this thermometer. I do like the large easy to read dial on it, which can be readily seen even if it is placed way in the back of the fridge.

 | The Bread Baker's Apprentice: Mastering the Art of Extraordinary Bread |
 | "Good cookbook...but" | 2008-04-19 |
The printing of this book is totally lousy. The spine weakened within just a few weeks. This is my main complaint because I just don't think it will hold up to years of opening and closing. I can see this as coming apart.

 | Sharp Solar-Powered Calculator |
 | "Pretty nice" | 2008-04-19 |
For the price I think this is a good calculator that has a large screen, decent size buttons, and can fit into your shirt pocket with ease. The cover snaps closed quite securely.

 | Vornado 530B 3 Speed Compact Air Circulator, Black |
 | "Excellent fan" | 2007-08-28 |
I love these fans. The photo is not exactly like the product I was delivered, but it isn't worth complaining about (the base is different). The only drawback is the fan speed is preset (L, M, H) whereas an older Vornado I have of this same style has a variable speed.

 | Epson Perfection 3490 Photo Scanner - Silver |
 | "Effective and speedy" | 2006-07-21 |
This works as expected, but I really disliked the Mac software it came with and opted to scan and edit via Photoshop. Also, it only scans 3 slides/pass. Sorta lame if you have hundreds to do.

 | Spare Parts: A Marine Reservist's Journey from Campus to Combat in 38 Days |
 | "Smooth read with great insight." | 2004-05-29 |
I was unprepared for how smoothly this book read and how I didn't ever want to put it down! It was a combination of Buzz's writing style and my eagerness to hear more about the significant events that took place during his Marine years (both in training, during war, and on the home front) that made this book a page-turner. One nice aspect about the writing--Buzz moves quickly, he never gets bogged down in too much detail. He writes succinctly and concisely. Great writing and editing.

 | Delonghi EMK6 Alicia Electric Moka Espresso Maker |
 | "Effective, compact" | 2003-11-16 |
What I initially liked about this machine is the fact that I could use it off the stovetop and it really is not a counter hog--I bought it for my office, actually. I was surprised at how piping hot the coffee can get in it. All in all, it works well. Realize, too, this moka brew is definately a step down in flavor from traditionally brewed espresso (from a pump-driven machine). I recommend it.

 | I, Claudius : From the Autobiography of Tiberius Claudius, Born 10 B.C., Murdered and Deified A.D. 54 (Vintage International) |
 | "I, Claudius" | 2001-12-16 |
Engaging story all the way through from the "eyes" of Claudius. The book gives powerful insight into some of Claudius' family, their personalities and feelings. It was never boring to read and easy to understand (although I did draw a small family tree on the inside cover to help keep the many individuals' relationships to each other clear in my mind!).

 | The Leopard |
 | "Warm and educational" | 1999-12-17 |
I didn't really know what to expect when reading The Leopard. The opening pages and characters illustrated a ruling class structure in Italy I was unfamiliar with, so it was a bit confusing to understand. Quickly, however, the story took hold and I not only began to understand Italy's political past but was entertained by a series of warm characters and beautifully written dialoges. By chance, I began to read Midnight in Sicily following this book and found many quotes referring back to The Leopard. I consider Midnight a good follow-up book for getting another view of Italy's politcal environment--this time more recent.
