I would underscore everything that the prior reviewers have mentioned. This is a truly magnificent piece of equipment and the soundstage is truly amazing.

I run all my video through it - my Denon Blue-Ray goes through native, DVD and Cable I was upconverting to 1080p. This does not work very well though on certain HD Channels if you have TWC. What happens is that the commercials keep switching output from 1080i, to 480p, and anything else that they are recorded in.... if you fast forward through them, the upconverter cannot keep up with the switching and blacks out.

I thought my cable box was hosed and had it changed, but after I stopped upconverting it got a little better (there is still a noticeable delay in the rendering). For grins and giggles I did try setting the cable box to output only 720P or 1080i... it was terrible.

Rated 3 Stars"Easy to use, but distance is lacking! Firmware update helps." 2009-05-11
This router is advertised to be simple to set-up and use, with better speed and range than previous B or G routers.

So...

Ease of use - 5/5

This is without doubt the easiest to set-up router I have had the pleasure of owning. Simply put in the CD, follow instructions and voila you are connected. Additionally Linksys include the LELA software (Linksys EasyLink Advisor)which enables you to manage your home network quite easily. On the downside, if you need to change channels, you have to connect to the router directly through its IP connection... and the options in there require a Network admin to fully decipher.

Speed/BandWidth 5/5

Connected my daughter's PC with a dual G/N Band USB wireless adapter. She was running over 250Mb/s, and her response is now as good as my 1GB connection to the router. BTW - this is a Gigabit router, so if you connect using Cat6 wiring and have a Gigabit Nic, you will see the router indicator turn green instead of blue.

Distance/Range 3.5/5

My youngest son's computer is upstairs and 110 feet from my router. He get about a 20% signal, using the same adapter as my daughter who is 50 feet away. There are no aerials nor can you buy add-ons, so that sucks. HOWEVER, I performed the firmware update (see the Linksys download pages) and he now gets 75Mbs and a signal strength of about 35%, which is much improved.

A note on the firmware upgrade. I could not get my sons' Nintendo DS/DSi to connect to my network. The Firmware resolved this, so now my sons can play via the internet which has made them happy.

Value For Money 3/5
Overall, I have to agree with most of the dissenting reviewers. This should have been the Gold Standard for linksys, but it is not. For the money, and the hype, you/we should expect much better range.

Overall - 3/5

If you have a small house and need the bandwidth - this will work just fine. If you are buying as I did, to improve speed and bandwidth, and have a long distance between the router and the adapters - keep looking.

Rated 5 Stars"Great Value for Money!" 2009-04-25
Up until a few weeks ago, I was unaware of just how good Grado Headphones are. I have had Sennheiser reference headphones for most of my adult life. My last pair of HD540 Reference Golds were starting to frizz out when a colleague at work showed up with a pair of Grado SR60s. I was stunned, the sound stage was so perfectly clear, fantastic separation and Led Zep's "Ramble On" was clear as day, BUT, the bass response was a little sloppy for me and the deeper resonance was missing. So... I bought the SR80s. I was stunned - the sound was every bit as good as my Sennheiser, the clarity, precision is excellent, if just a little warm in the 50-60Hz range.

So sound good, but what about build quality, comfort and looks?

Well - the look is very retro - I caught a glimpse of myself in the window at work and could easily have been confused with the radio operator on the Titanic.

The build quality is worrying... There is a "Y" junction where the wires split from the jack to the headphones. This is simply a pressure welded plastic junction box. It flattens the wires and looks like it could weaken the cabling and cause problems later - I guess I will find out in due course. I would like them to have used a better quality splitter, but maybe I am just a worrywart.

As to comfort they are light and after a few minutes you forget you are wearing them. I have listened to music for hour and they left no pinch points and are easily adjusted.

In summary

Sound 4.5/5
Looks 3/5 (Who wants to look that Geeky?)
Build 4/5
Comfort 5/5
Value 5/5

I do not think you will find better headphones for the money - if you are thinking of getting some "real" cans and have a limited budget - buy these - you will not be disappointed.

The good... Good sound, and comfortable in the ear and very easy to use.

The bad... 1 hour of talk time. You cannot simply buy another power adapter for the earpiece, you have to buy that and the little plastic cylinder to have another charger.

AND one question for all the manufacturers, other than Motorola. "Have you ever heard of USB/Mini USB?". I am sure we are all sick to the teeth of buying new cell phones and earpieces, only to find that the manufacturers, in an effort to extend their revenue streams, have created another completely different power connector.

Bottom line, don't buy this, buy something with a decent battery life and a mini USB connector for power.

Rated 5 Stars"Great Paper for perfect Borderless Prints" 2006-01-30
I have never set too much store on matching printers to paper.

I have a Canon 20D camera and a Canon i9900 printer. With HP paper I got very good results, but with Canon paper I saw a significant improvement in saturation, especially on the lighter greens.

This is great paper and worth it for those special photos you want to keep. For "everyday" photo printing though - it is a little pricey.

Rated 3 Stars"Could have been so much better." 2002-11-03
This is an example of where the plot loses, once again to the effects. Don't get me wrong the effects are spectacular, and they are well woven into the story, but the plot is simply pathetic.

The plot: boy gets bit by spider; troubled CEO tests himself on latest product with obvious results. CEO goes insane, runs round in plastic suit. ...Only one man can stop him - SPIDERMAN!!!

Big battle - run credits.

Even the sub-plot of the love affair and the eternal triangle between Peter Parker and his two best friends is slow and mangled.

Bottom line - too slow, too simple, no twists, BUT great effects.

Super Monkey Ball 2 - Nintendo GameCubeSuper Monkey Ball 2 - Nintendo GameCube
Rated 4 Stars"Great for young kids!!" 2002-10-24
I have children aged 9, 7 and 4: Monkeyball 2 is one of those rare games where all the children can play and have fun - even the 4 year old. The one player gaming is great fun for the older kids, and this game, like most requires better hand-to-eye co-ordination than that left in a 43 year old Dad. Yes... the kids do like humiliating their father - but in the multi-player mode this game comes into it's own and even Dad has a chance!

You can play tennis, billiards, fly, fight, etc etc. All the games are either turn based or split screen. None of them are particularly difficult, but they are wicked fun! I have to confess to have been playing MB2 with the kids, way after their bed times.

The only down-side, is that to get all the multi-player games, you have to "unlock" them by reaching certain levels/goals in the single-player game. This means that we had to spend hours in the one player game before we could really enjoy all this game had to offer. If the games were accessable at the start, I would have given this game a 5, instead of a 4 out of 5.

Bottom line, if you have a Game Cube and Young Kids - Buy this game.

Mind PreyMind Prey
Rated 5 Stars"If you haven't read this series you have missed a treat!" 2002-10-23
Mind Prey was the very first "Prey" book I ever read. I picked it up in an airport and was instantly hooked. John Sandford has the rare ability to build "real" characters that are flawed but real - cruel but interesting - attractive but not cheesy.
For those of us with kids - this particular book is savage! It starts with a guy fishing on a lake... and right then your nerves will start to fray - you know that something BAD is going to happen.

Step in Lucas Davenport - Part detective, part game designer, part animal. This guy is about the best detective I have seen portrayed. He isn't Sherlock Holmes and He isn't Mike Hammer, but he is definitely a bit of both.

One last thing - if you read one - be prepared to buy the rest!

Who Moved My Cheese An Amazing Way to Deal with Change in Your Work and in Your LifeWho Moved My Cheese An Amazing Way to Deal with Change in Your Work and in Your Life
Rated 1 Stars"Nice fairy story, but it really doesn't help that much" 2000-12-19
I read this book in about 30 minutes. It is an engaging fairy tale, but it ends there. It tells everyone what they already know, and then suggests that if they want to survive (find cheese), they will need to be willing to change. Well OK, that's fair. But when you start to look at how do you get people to change, how do you engage senior leaders to make change happen - the tumbleweeds start blowing by. I am sorry, but people do not want to change, and reading a book doesn't do it. To change requires leadership, engagement, ownership and collective communication. This book addresses only part of this. Caveat Emptor!
