| PS3 MONSTER MADNESS | ||
![]() | "A fun distraction" | 2008-08-18 |
| This game is pretty fun. If you like zombie movies, then you'll probably enjoy this game on some level. It's not a scary Resident Evil style game, but it fills all your horror cravings for the PS3 in a more lighthearted sort of way. The PS3, quite frankly, doesn't have very many good games out yet, so I would say that this is one of the most fun ones that I've played so far. You also can't beat the low price. | ||
| Karaoke - Britney Spears: Toxic/Me Against the Music | ||
![]() | "great karaoke" | 2004-08-25 |
| This is a great karaoke CD for Britney fans. It includes on-screen lyrics and a nice lyrics sheet. This is a must buy! | ||
| Flesh Gordon | ||
![]() | "So bad it's good... well, kinda" | 2004-02-11 |
| Flesh Gordon is easily one of the "best" worst movies that I've ever seen. If you're openminded and enjoy a good eroti-comedy, then you might enjoy this one. The picture here isn't great and neither is the sound (especially since it's called a collector's edition), but it's okay for what it is. Just don't watch this movie with kids since it contains both male and female full frontal nudity. | ||
| Evil Places Movie Set | ||
![]() | "I don't understand the problem here" | 2002-05-16 |
| Some of the people who have complained about this movie below have stated that they felt the box falsely advertised. I don't understand what happened here. I bought this movie and it CLEARLY said "Silent Night BLOODY Night" on it, and it had a different film description than some of the ones listed below. Maybe there were some misprints on some editions of the collection? Anyway, I liked this set anyway. The film "Don't Look in the Basement" is a classic. It alone is worth paying [money] for the set. The other three movies aren't horrible either. You could have something to watch when you are bored at least. A- | ||
| The Sharp Teeth of Love : A Novel | ||
![]() | "A Rich and Powerful Novel" | 2002-03-28 |
| Betts has to be one of the best authors to ever come out of North Carolina. Her writing has a touch of realism that is seldom matched by writers. Her wit is brilliant. Her characters are moving. The story is hypnotic. Take a look at this book. A+ | ||
| Cher - Living Proof [ECD] * | ||
![]() | "Some of Cher's best work to date" | 2002-02-28 |
| If you even remotely enjoyed Cher's last major U.S. studio album "Believe," then you will love her latest cd "Living Proof." The cd is full of feel good dance anthems that are sure to hit a club near you in the not-so-distant future. The best songs on the cd are probably "The Music's No Good Without You,""Rain, Rain," and "Song for the Lonely." As always, Cher is back again with that sentimental defiance we all adore her for. Definitely buy this cd and learn why Cher is still one of the best divas of today. A+ | ||
| My Chauffeur | ||
![]() | "A 1980's classic!" | 2002-02-28 |
| I absolutely love this movie. I have been a fan of this film since I was a kid. It is enjoyable in so many ways! You can enjoy it as a period piece or as a screwball comedy. Deborah Foreman is great in this film. I have no complaints about this one. A+ | ||
| Alanis Morissette - Under Rug Swept [ECD] * | ||
![]() | "Alanis does it again!" | 2002-02-27 |
| I just love Alanis Morissette. Her introspective lyrics always come out with the kind of raw emotion that all artists wish they could bring out. If you liked any of Alanis's past efforts (especially "Jagged Little Pill"), then you will love this cd. The stand out songs have to be "Hands Clean" and "Utopia," but I found every single song on the cd to be a good listen. A+ | ||
| Thirteen Ghosts | ||
![]() | "Great horror flick, very stylish" | 2002-02-18 |
| This is a really beautiful film to look at. The set was interesting and obviously had a lot of work put into it. The special effects and acting were beyond expectations. The ghosts were all fun to look at, and some were downright creepy. My only complaint is that I wanted to see more about each individual ghost...and lots of more of Shannon Elizabeth. Overall the movie is definitely worth a viewing. | ||
| Rockula | ||
![]() | "A lot of fun...I hope there is a DVD soon" | 2002-02-18 |
| Someone really needs to put this movie onto DVD. Rockula is a really funny 80's classic. It ranks right up there will Teen Witch as one of the campiest movies of the decade. This movie has all that goofy, cheesy charm that we've come to expect from 80's comedy. This movie is so bad that it is good! I just love it. | ||
| Cabin by the Lake / Return to Cabin by the Lake | ||
![]() | "A great DVD deal" | 2002-02-13 |
| This double DVD set is well worth the cost. The first "Cabin by the Lake" film was wonderful. I had absolutely no compalints. As far as TV movies go, this is definitely a winner. It was great fun to watch and an interesting idea. The sequel was not as good as the first--it was actually rather bland and silly in comparison. It is still nice to see the movie here with the original as a companion piece of sorts. You can't go wrong with a two for one deal. | ||
| Children of the Living Dead | ||
![]() | "One of the worst independent horror films I've seen" | 2002-01-07 |
| I have seen a lot of bad low budget horror flicks in my time, but this one takes the cake. The special effects are bad, the plot is non-existant, and there isn't even some decent erotic stuff to make up for it all. This movie reminded me of the old "Revenge of the Living Zombies" movie, but it doesn't even live up to that one. Only watch this one if you are a diehard zombie movie fan. | ||
| Adventures in Babysitting | ||
![]() | "An 1980's classic" | 2001-12-16 |
| The 1980's brought us a lot of wonderful teen movies. Adventures in Babysitting is definitely one of the best ones to come out of that decade. The cast is wonderful (even the younger stars are good actors). The plot is full of fun twists and turns. The entire package is wonderful. I have no complaints about this movie. I'm thrilled that it has been re-released on DVD. | ||
| Björk - Selmasongs: Dancer In The Dark (2000 Film) | ||
![]() | "Original, beautiful, and profound" | 2001-12-09 |
| I don't have the words to say how moving the film "Dancer in the Dark" is. The film and soundtrack are brilliant. This is definitely Bjork at her best. Very few artists today have the bold talent that little Bjork does. I have nothing but praise for her, and for this album. Get it today. A+ | ||
| Prince & the Revolution - Music from the Motion Picture "Purple Rain" | ||
![]() | "It's still the best Prince album of all time..." | 2001-12-08 |
| I have loved a lot of Prince's music over the years, but "Purple Rain" is definitely my personal favorite out of all his albums. The songs on this album are still as fresh today as they were in the 1980's. Few 80's artists made the impact on the music industry that Prince did. Only Madonna and Michael Jackson give him competition at all. "Purple Rain,""Darling Nikki," and "When Doves Cry" are only a couple of the brilliant songs you can find on this cd. All three are pretty revolutionary for their time. Give this cd a try if you haven't already experienced it. A+ | ||
| Freedom of Expression in the American Military | ||
![]() | "Packer is an expert" | 2001-12-07 |
| Cathy Packer is one of my professors at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. There's no one that knows media law like she does. This book is just another example of how brilliant she is with her subject matter. Buy this book today. You won't regret it. A+ | ||
| John Denver & the Muppets - A Christmas Together [Laserlight] | ||
![]() | "A wonderful little holiday cd." | 2001-12-07 |
| I've love the Muppets since I was a kid. I've always been particularly fond of Miss Piggy and Fozzie. This cd showcases all of our Muppet friends, along with the wonderful voice of John Denver. How can you go wrong with such a warm and sweet holiday piece. It is here for a great price. Why don't you give it a try? A+ | ||
| Shakira - Laundry Service | ||
![]() | "Good, not great" | 2001-12-07 |
| I absolutely fell in love with the song "Wherever, Whenever" when I saw the music video on MTV. The song is catchy, fun, and a great introduction of Shakira to the United States. I just wish the entire album had been so fresh and fun. Shakira is obviously very talented, but sometimes her raspy voice can get hard to understand. Many of the songs require looking at the lyrics just to figure out what she is trying to say. Anyway, I hope that she continues to make music in the English language. I'm sure that she could be the next Jennifer Lopez or Ricky Martin if she keeps up the good work. | ||
| Creed - Weathered | ||
![]() | "More boring stuff for the masses" | 2001-12-06 |
| It baffles me why groups like Creed remain so popular when they all (like System of a Down, Pearl Jam, Tool, Korn, Matchbox 20, Kid Rock, etc.) sound just alike--and they are not very good to start with. The music on Creed's latest artistic flop sounds just like all those other boring tracks on the last cd. Almost any song could be interchanged with the song "Higher." Even the radio-friendly "My Sacrifice" makes my ears bleed. I wish these guys would just vanish from the music scene. It is really too bad that Fred Durst (who I don't particularly like either really) decided not to kick Creed's whiney, pretty boy butts. | ||
| Various Artists - Not Another Teen Movie | ||
![]() | "Great covers of some classic pop songs" | 2001-12-05 |
| This soundtrack will be great for anyone who loves music from the 1980s. There's just one catch, most of these songs are covers of 80's classics (done with a rock twist). Marilyn Manson's "Tainted Love" is definitely the best track on the cd, but there are other songs that I enjoyed as well. Covers of "Somebody's Baby,""Melt With You," and "99 Red Balloons" were all great. This soundtrack is highly recommended. I give it an A. | ||
| Rob Zombie - The Sinister Urge [PA] * | ||
![]() | "No complaints here" | 2001-12-04 |
| I have to say that I am extremely pleased that I bought Rob Zombie's latest cd. It was everything I'd hoped it would be. Rob sticks to what the fans love him for here. He makes some of our favorite horror movie themes into some excellent rock music. My favorite song on the cd was "House of 1000 Corpses." The song has a pleasant surprise for you with its country twang and creepy lyrics. That song alone is worth buying the album, and it makes me want to see the movie with a passion. Some people have complained that they thought the cd was too short. While there could never be enough music on a Rob Zombie cd in my eyes, I think he made a wise decision keeping things short and sweet. The songs are just the right length to keep you happy without getting annoying. Do yourself a favor and pick up this cd. It is definitely a keeper. A+ | ||
| Sybersound - Party Tyme Karaoke Pop Female | ||
![]() | "Some great karaoke songs to sing along with" | 2001-11-30 |
| Madonna, Janet, Alanis...who could ask for more? I bought this for a friend recently and she absolutely loved it. She sings these songs non-stop! It is great fun for her and for all her friends. | ||
| To the Lighthouse | ||
![]() | "Very interesting, but not an easy read" | 2001-11-30 |
| If you are looking for a book to read in the bath or on vacation at the beach, don't get this book. If you have the time and patience to study a serious work of art, then this might be just the book for you. I have to say that it took a lecture from one of my college professors at UNC-Chapel Hill to get me to like this book. Until I fully understood the unique style Woolf uses to write this novel, I didn't appreciate it fully. If you take your time with this book (and you don't let yourself get frustrated), then you might fall in love with it as I have. | ||
| Madonna - Drowned World Tour | ||
![]() | "Madonna does it yet again...We can't get enough of her" | 2001-11-30 |
| The Drowned World vhs/DVD is a chance to see Madonna in great form. Who could ask more out of the Material Girl? She puts on the best concert of the year, and here's your chance to see it if you couldn't get tickets to the live show. This tour is definitely worth seeing. It even rivals such classics as the Blonde Ambition Tour and the Girlie Show Tour. Don't get me wrong, it is nothing like these tours...just equally brilliant. This is Madonna like you've never seen her before. I can't wait to see how she'll manage to top this one in the future. A+ | ||
| Now That's What I Call Christmas! | ||
![]() | "One of the best Christmas albums ever!" | 2001-11-29 |
| I absolutely love this cd. There are so many wonderful holiday songs to choose from! Every single song is wonderful to listen to and either a classic or a future classic. I love everything here from Gene Autry to Elvis to Britney Spears. This would be a PERFECT cd if it had also included Madonna's version of "Santa Baby," Destiny's Child's "8 Days of Christmas," Jewel's "Ave Maria," and Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas is You." Maybe these songs can be considered for next year's installment in the Now Christmas series (I assume there will be one now). All in all, I give this cd an A+. | ||
| Destiny's Child - 8 Days of Christmas | ||
![]() | "Disappointed. Very disappointed." | 2001-11-26 |
| I love Destiny's Child. With that said, let me give this album a little criticism. This cd is not a Christmas album to be taken very seriously. Some tracks (like the very fun "8 Days of Christmas") are meant to be listened to lightly. Other songs are supposed to be listened to with a serious ear. I was horrified to hear the line "I am a poor girl too" in the song "Little Drummer Boy." I feel like the DC trio totally missed the point of this classic holiday song. They also butcher several other holiday tunes. Even "Carol of the Bells" gets an unneeded makeover with "Opera of the Bells." All in all Destiny's Child simply tries too hard with this cd. The charm and ghetto-fabulousness of the Survivor album simply doesn't exist on this collection. The album almost fits into the "so bad it's good" music category, but doesn't even quite get there. | ||
| Now That's What I Call Music! 8 | ||
![]() | "Has its strengths" | 2001-11-26 |
| Now 8 is probably one of the better cds in the popular Now That's What I Call Music series, but there are a few tracks that should definitely have been removed and replaced with an artist as fun to listen to as Britney or Madonna. The songs by Joe, U2, and Fuel are definitely the weakest points in this collection. They are all painful to listen to...I had to fast forward through them to avoid having a nervous breakdown. "If I Could be Like that" almost gets the same reaction. The cd makes up for these yucky songs with some great songs like those by Janet Jackson, Mandy Moore, Aaliyah, Gorillaz, Jive Jones, Jessica Simpson, and Smash Mouth. I love the Now series because it give me a chance to own songs from cds that I would never otherwise purchase. For example, I like only one song off of the Gorillaz cd, so why would I ever buy the whole thing? Thank you Now that's What I Call Music. | ||
| Madonna - Madonna: GHV2 | ||
![]() | "A Wonderful Collection of Essential Madonna Music" | 2001-11-17 |
| I absolutely love everything that Madonna has ever released, so this may be a slightly biased review of this cd. I feel like Madonna has chosen to include some of her all time greatest work on this collection. It is about time these songs got gathered into one cd for listening pleasure. I'm glad that songs like "Frozen,""Erotica," and "Music" made it into the collection. Really, I love all the songs that are here. I would only ask for at least one original song (or even a hard to find B-side, like "Has to Be"). I also was sad to see that "Rain" and "American Pie" didn't make the list of songs. The best part of this cd is perhaps the booklet that comes with the cd. It is full of small Madonna pictures--over a hundred different classic Madonna looks are presented. That alone was worth the purchase. Get this cd today. A+ | ||
| Britney Spears - Britney | ||
![]() | "I'm glad she did it again!" | 2001-11-06 |
| I absolutely love Britney Spears. There hasn't been a female artist this fun to watch since Madonna. All the songs on this new album are fun to listen to, dance to, or sing along to in your car. The first single "I'm a Slave 4 U" is already a classic. Britney can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned. If you are a Britney fan, this is a must have album. Even my friends who don't typically like Britney's music say that they love the songs on this cd. | ||
| Scooby-Doo and the Cyber Chase | ||
![]() | "Quite a challenging little game" | 2001-11-04 |
| While this game is not the best game ever made, it is certainly good for some entertainment when you are feeling bored. I love Scooby-Doo and the gang, so I thought this game would be a lot of fun. It did not let me down. I have to say that this game will not be good for smaller children. It is not scary or gory, it is simply kind of tough. It is definitely harder to master than some games I've played that were meant for adult players. Actually, this game kind of reminded me of the old Super Mario Brothers games that used to come out on Super Nintendo. It is fun though. I recommend it for players over the age of ten. A- | ||
