| Healthy Living BW-325S Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor | ||
![]() | "Dangerously Inaccurate" | 2008-01-14 |
| My blood pressure tends to run a little high so my doctor recommended I monitor it over the course of a month. So I bought this blood pressure meter thinking it would be a convenient and hassle-free way to monitor my blood pressure at home without having to go out to the gym or other place where they had a BP machine. Boy was I wrong. I can't get an accurate reading off this monitor, and yes I've read the instruction manual. Just tonight it showed me as being 195/120 which is in the "stroke danger zone" and I freaked out. An hour later, I'm 131/68 which seems to be closer to my typical range. I get wild variations in the readings even as much as 20-30 points within just a few minutes. I just don't know which to trust. I've decided I'm taking it back and trying another model. I'm very unimpressed. | ||
| Apple 60 GB iPod 5G (5th Generation) with Video Playback - Black | ||
![]() | "Best iPod Ever" | 2007-07-02 |
| I love my 60GB Video iPod- there's plenty of storage room with all my music, photos, videos and room left over to backup my data. If you look at the price per Gigabyte, this is without a doubt the most cost-effective iPod model. The Battery lasts for hours upon hours when playing music and still for several hours when watching video. I love the fact that I can hook this up to my TV with a video cable and watch my video on the big screen. It also works great when coupled with the dock and remote, before the Apple TV, this was the best way to watch my iTunes movies and videos on the big-screen from my sofa. The iTunes software works great for managing all my media and the sync process is easy and fast with the USB 2.0. Just plug it in and go. I was really surprised at how clear the video screen was - yes it is small, but it's fine for occasional viewing such as when on a trip. Made my 8 hour overseas flight much more enjoyable. I also bought an iPod compatible stereo for my car and now I rarely use anything else. Great for podcasts and audio books, especially for long commutes. Oh yeah, and last but not least- it's absolutely gorgeous. | ||
| Corporations: Examples and Explanations (The Examples & Explanations Series) | ||
![]() | "Great study aid!" | 2006-04-29 |
| A agree with the previous comment, this book does have a strong MBCA focus but it does frequently reference Delaware law as well as occasionally some other states. This is an excellent study aid, I used to prepare for my corporations exam, but I wish I had been more diligent about reading it throughout the year as we were studying various subjects, no doubt my class would have made much more sense. Corporations has thus far been the most difficult law school course I"ve taken (partly due to my prof.) and this book was a life-saver. My only advice is not to wait to the last minute. Yes this book is a great summary of the course, but it's still very dense and nearly 700 pages long. It will take a good while to go through if you're really reading, outlining and trying to learn the material. I spent nearly all day for three full days just getting through this book. It was well worth the effort, but if I had to do it all over again, I would have kept up with the book during the course or started prepping a few weeks prior. | ||
| Law and the Mental Health System: Civil and Criminal Aspects (American Casebook Series) | ||
![]() | "Interesting read...though still a textbook" | 2006-04-28 |
| This review relates to the 4th Edition, which has been fairly significantly updated since the last reviewer's post. No doubt about it, this was written to be a textbook, it's fairly dense and packed with information. Yet it's also a pretty interesting read if your course takes the time to go through it. I also recommend the Mental Health and Disability Nutshell (Hermann) as a supplement - however that has not been updated since '97 and while most of the information is accurate, the text does contain topics the nutshell doesn't discuss. | ||
| Mental Health and Disability Law in a Nutshell (Nutshell Series) | ||
![]() | "A Lifesaver- but a bit out of date" | 2006-04-28 |
| This book was a lifesaver when it came to preparing for final exams. A very nice summary that hits all the major topics in Mental Health law. My only complaint is that it hasn't been updated since 97. So although most of the information is still accurate, it doesn't cover any of the more-recent developments in the law. Either way, if your struggling in a course, it's a great tool to have- just be aware that it was published in 1997, but I've looked and this was the best option I could find. | ||

| reEVOlution iSkin eVot for iPod 20 GB | ||
![]() | "Hands down, best iPod case" | 2006-01-22 |
| iSkin makes great products, don't be tempted by the cheep knock-offs. The silicone case is perfectly molded to fit the iPod, it doesn't let any dust or debris in and the iPod looks great in the case. I bought an iSkin for my little brother when he got his iPod as a graduation gift. My brother is horribly abusive with his iPod, plays basketball, puts it in his pocket, takes it everywhere, etc. Going on a year and a half and his iPod lives in the iSkin case and looks and works just like new. Yes, it's a little price, but after you've spent all that money on an iPod, what's a couple more bucks to keep it looking good as new. My highest recommendation. | ||
| LG VX4500 Phone | ||
![]() | "Great phone, if you've got one that works." | 2005-09-10 |
| I have the VX 4500 and I too am on my fourth phone in a year. My first phone I used for about 6 months with no problem. I took in to Verizon for a software upgrade as recommended and something happened and my phone died while on their upgrade machine so I got a new one. Second phone worked for two months or so but would randomly power off which was a major problem as this is my only phone. Then I suddenly kept getting busy type signals whenever I tried to call out and would have to redial about 4 times before it would finally connect. Verizon swore it couldn't be a problem with their network so they replaced the phone out again. Third time I had the phone about a month and I was having random issues with the screen, it would go all black, go all blue, freeze and have a solid black bar running down the screen. Powering off and on the phone would correct the problem but it kept happening. So, now I'm on week 2 with phone number 4 and so far so good. I have 90 days left on my warranty so I'm praying if anything else strange happens it will do so before that warranty runs out. Each time I had a problem the tech at the Verizon store was very helpful. In fact he himself had the same phone so I asked him if he had any problems. Sure enough, he said he had to replace the phone 4 times the first month he had it but once he got a good one had no problems. This is a great phone when it works, but apparently LG has some quality control issues they need to work out. Also a word of warning, if you've downloaded Ringtones, games or or anything else you've downloaded through "Get it Now" will not transfer to your new phone, only your contacts. I lost about $10 worth of ringtones and Verizon would not credit any of it back to allow to re-download them unless I was within 60 days of downloading them. That's not the phone's problem but Verizon's which irritated me. All in all, I love the phone when it works. It has far and away the best ability to receive a signal compared to previous phones I've owned and used on the Verizon network. I wish it was tri-mode but at the time I purchased this was the best option for me. Although the call quality has been great I'm not sure I'll purchase another LG phone because of the bugs. I've had Motorola phones for years and never had to replace one out. | ||
| Black & Decker DCM18S Brew 'n Go Personal Coffeemaker with Travel Mug | ||
![]() | "Great for singles on the go!" | 2004-09-14 |
| I just moved into my first apartment that I share with my non-coffee drinking roommate. I was looking for a small, simple and easy method to make coffee in the mornings. I must say this little gizmo has saved me time and money. I buy and grind my own flavored beans and I'm just as satisfied as if I went to the coffee shop and spent $3 for a gourmet blend. So far I have been thrilled with this little unit, with only one minor complaint. I grind my own beans and from start to finish I have a perfect cup of coffee in under two minutes. This is great because especially on those mornings when I NEED my cup of coffee I don't usually have a lot of time. Even if I left the coffee sit on the counter for a few minutes it's still piping hot when I'm ready to drink. The automatic shutoff is nice for peace of mind. The size is right, doesn't take up a lot of space in my small kitchen and it's a attractive little unit that I don't mind having out on my counter all the time. On the rare occasion when I do have company I can very quickly make a second cup without any delay. The size of the cup is perfect. I try to only drink coffee a few days a week and this provides the perfect my needs. I've also noticed I seem to be making better coffee. With my previous 4-cup coffee maker I was never quite getting the proportion of water to grinds right but since this coffee maker make one serving once you know how much coffee to use you've got it made. The built in filter saves me time, mess and money. I don't have to go looking through the cabinets and pulling out coffee filters each morning. Clean up is super easy, just give the filter a quick rinse under the sink and you're good to go. My only complaint would be the travel mug that comes with the coffee maker isn't my favorite. Though I've never had any problems with it the handle seems a little flimsy. Also, it's an awkward size so doesn't fit the tall standard size coffee tumblers you find at Starbucks, etc. However, you can easily replace the mug and brew directly into any standard or oversized mug. While it is one extra step I usually brew into a large mug and then pour that into one of my tall Starbucks coffee tumblers. The volume of the coffee is the same, it's minor annoyance but easily fixable. All in all I'd give this product 4.5 stars for the mug annoyance but I have been quite happy with my product and would purchase another one if the need ever came to replace this one. Makes a great gift for any single coffee lover you know. | ||
