I took Dr. Smead's class, and he is much better as a lecturer than a writer. His class is dynamic and interesting, full of little tid-bits of fun facts about the time period. However, the book doesn't do his lecture style justice. Where he is interesting in lecture, in writing he just bores me to tears. I skimmed most of the book because I couldn't stand the slow pace and attention to too much detail.
So, if you go to the University of Maryland: take his class, don't read his book. For everyone else, well, I guess just don't read his book.

I love Star Wars. I grew up with the original on VHS. The quality of this DVD, compared to the VHS, is amazing. I can't get over how smooth everything looks, not at all grainy and gritty like the original VHS, which wore down over repeated use. However, I don't like how they messed with it, inserting Hayden Christiansen at the end. It was amazing the way you did it, DON'T MESS WITH IT! When I first saw it, I couldn't believe my eyes. It takes away from the original. They should have left the original character as the gohst of Aniken! Other than that, it's a good buy. I enjoy re-watching all the movies, without that wear-and-tear on the CD.

I got into Firefly when it came on TV. I was eager every week for the episodes, but with all of FOX's "other priorities," I ended up being more confused than anything. I didn't even know that it was pulled off the air until I read it somewhere, a month after the fact.
This DVD is everything I expected. It's great to see all the episodes without commercial breaks, and in order! The story is great, with many undercurrents and character developments. The DVD with all the extras was fun to watch also. I would definetly recommend this DVD series!

Instead of getting this just get the cheaper skins. I figured to get the nicer one since I already shelled out all my money on an iPod, but it is a lot of money for a carrying case. Definetly get the skins.
