| My grandson loved this item. So I've got him larger, more complex, more expensive similar products. I think it is best to start at the top of the line, instead of starting at lower levels and progressing up the ladder to the more expensive ones. I'm talking about this manufacturer. I'll probably get him items costing hundreds of dollars, if he continues to show interest. Expensive? Not at all, if it creates an interest in science which he will continue to develop into adulthood. A great hobby to compete with all the negative influences competing for his time over the years. | ||

| I got this book for my grandson, but I read it many years ago and also saw the movie when I was around eleven years old. It had an emotional impact on me then, maybe partly because I liked the girl who was about my own age then.
Besides the quality of the writing and the interesting story, the book gives one some idea of a period of history. I would give it five stars, but my grandson didn't seem to like it. I think one has to take much are in choosing books for kids, as some will dislike, and others will like, the same book for no apparent reason. It is just the personality of the kid. The applies even more so to toys. | ||

| This is outstanding for what it is supposed to do: give you a reference to interact at a basic level with Italians. Rick is very people oriented, and seems to want to promote excellent person-to-person relationships, and even country-to-country.
Don't rely on it to teach you Italian; get Pimsleur for that, then follow up with Living Language. Perhaps add Fluenz, if you are really serious, but it is expensive, as is Rosetta Stone, which I would avoid. | ||

| What can I say? The book covers the basics well. It is good as a basic reference for beginners, but is inadequate for anyone who wants the finer points. Same problem with most books in most languages, it seems. Some older books are better. | ||

| My grandson (11 yrs old) loved a lower level, and quickly was ready for more. So instead of getting the next higher level, I jumped to the highest level I saw -- this one. I'd saved money if I'd started with this one. Suffice it to way, he is nuts about this one, like he was the first I got two levels lower. I guess one considers this a toy --- my grandson does. But I think of it first as a learning experience, second as a means of exploring and developing his interest in something worthwhile. Of course, if it is fun, it is a toy too. I highly recommend Elenco products. | ||

| This book could be improved for beginners of German. I think if you first use Pimsleur before this book, it can be five stars for your purposes. But unless you get a good CD which covers the basics well, with enough repetition to master the declensions, this book would be too difficult to start out with alone. For German and Russian (and any other language with complicated declensions and other grammar), repetition is extremely important for most people, to learn the various endings. The Latin languages are not difficult in this respect, allowing one to breeze through the same material presented for German or Russian. The number of stars often varies depending upon what a book will be used for, and the level of advancement of the student. | ||

| Love is the most important aspect of God, in my opinion. Everything else, including all the Commandments, follow it. If one loves humanity, how can one violate the other commandments. Learning to love oneself, God, and others is basic to a healthy spiritual life, as well as healthy civic life, mental health, etc. Mother helps one understand and practice love. I believe everything she has written, as well her life itself, is well worth examining. | ||

| I rated it thee stars because I didn't like the stories much. Unsatisfactory endings for me, some dumb stories. But it is ok, especially as a review or if you want to improve your Italian further after reading better dual language books. I'm usually please (and I am with this one) with almost any dual language book, even if I don't like the stories or translations, because for me the books are to improve my knowledge of the foreign language. But some books are boring, dumb, and otherwise less desireable than those better written and interesting. | ||

| My main criticism is some obscure situations, like the section on harvesting equipment. But I guess there are those that want to know about the names of harvesting related equipment and activities. | Frankly, I would check out another brand. This one is expensive, and frustrating if you use AAA batteries. AAA batteries pop out of the charger every time I use it. Sometimes it pops out immediately or almost immediately. Other times I feel victorious in getting all the batteries to stay in the charger, only to later find a couple of them have popped out. I get around it by doing the obvious: I simply put all four batteries in, and charge only two (after two have popped out). Then I repeat the process. So after trying 4 twice, of the 8, I get 5 actually charged, which is all I need. | ||
