Rated 3 Stars"iTunes 9 compatability problem" 2009-09-29
Just a warning. As of this writing, September 29, 2009 there is a problem with compatibility with iTunes 9. I have corresponded with ION technical support and they say, "Currently EZ Vinyl Converter is not supported with iTunes 9.0. We are working on a fix. [...]

On some occasions the software works and on others it does not--I can record tracks but get the error message: "unable to export to iTunes."

The turntable is product is great, but if you use iTunes 9 (and unless you want to use the Audacity recording method--far more time consuming [my experience]) you may not be able to use this until they fix the software.

Man in the Mirror, TheMan in the Mirror, The
Rated 5 Stars"This is profound "life thinking"" 2005-10-29
Wow--this should be required reading for every young man (I've given a copy to both of my college-aged sons.) Had I read it in my twenties, I sense I could have avoided (or at least better understood) some of my struggles with issues such as relationships, my career, anger, and so on.

I don't mean to make this sound over the top, but honestly, this book spoke to me in a way no other book has (I've read everyone from Scott Peck and Wayne W. Dyer to Philip Yancey and C.S. Lewis). I can only tell you that, to me, "Man in the Mirror" is among the clearest, most profound "life thinking" I have ever read.

Teaching Music with PassionTeaching Music with Passion
Rated 5 Stars"If you can do what this man teachs--wow!" 2005-01-16
I just returned from a concert conducted by Peter Boonshaft. It was an all-county band concert (high-school aged musicians chosen for participation through an audition process) where roughly 125 students meet and work with a guest conductor for three days then present four or five pieces in-concert. (Henrico County, VA)

Wow. I have seen plenty of student concerts in the years my son has participated in our county's first-class music program, but, from the moment Boonshaft raised his baton, I knew I was witnessing something extraordinary.

If this book helps you communicate ten percent as effectively as Dr. Boonshaft communicated with these students and this audience, it is well worth twice the price. The students were truly, truly inspired and the audience was simply spellbound. Three standing ovations later, I realized I had witnessed a rare professional who is so confident about what he does that he transends self and is able to help those around him to experience his passion themselves--amazing.

Rated 5 Stars"A funny, therapeutic look at the creative side of life..." 2002-10-16
Reading about life from a designer's point of view is therapeutic--it's nice to know I'm not the only one who obsesses over the aesthetics of life. In his latest book, "My Wife and Times," Daniel Will-Harris, recounts the sometimes touching, often hilarious consequences of two graphic designers living in one house. If you're like me, you'll come away with some great laughs and a better appreciation for what it means to be a warm person in a cold world.

There are lots of great cuts on this title, but Cynthia Clawson's "It Won't Rain Always" defines it. I get a sense on that track, that something truly unexpected happened -- a few moments that really touched those present and that will touch you too -- I guarantee it.

Rated 5 Stars"Smart new perspective on web advertising and marketing" 2000-06-30
It can be near-catastrophic for an organization to find that, after spending thousands of dollars developing a site, there is some strategic flaw in the reasoning behind it. In "Relationship Marketing On The Internet" Roger C. Parker lays out the why, what, and how of real-world web design - less theory and more hands-on, step-by-step detail with lots of streetwise tips, worksheets, and case studies.

Rated 5 Stars"Good looking--smart thinking" 1997-12-17
Design is as much about marketing as it is aesthetics. In a world where designers often divorce themselves from marketing reality and marketers fail to appreciate the importance of design, Roger C. Parker's Guide to Web Content and Design strikes a near-perfect balance. If you're new to web design--this is a great place to start. There's plenty of "big picture" thinking and helpful details in the form of checklists and sidebars. If you're well experienced--you'll find the guide is a great way to re-examine your own approach to building successful sites. This is one of Parker's best. I highly recommend it.
