1. I can understand how most folks like this book. But I can also understand the negative reviews as well. The explanation in resolving this conflict is based in the expectations one has when reading another one of N. Spark's books. If you expect something new, then you might be disappointed. On the other hand, if you don't mind familiarity, then you'll very much like this book. 2. I haven't read all of Spark's books, but this one does stand out in that it's more... mature and thoughtful. Overall, a very enjoyable read and a must read for most N. Spark's fans. By the way, even though N. Sparks is obviously known as a fiction author, without question his most powerful book is his autobiography "3 weeks with my brother"; A definite must read by all human beings.

1. I'm more a fan of the earlier Clint Eastwood movies. 2. With that being said, I was very pleasantly surprised with the overall excellence of this movie. It's pretty much top notch from all points of view. 3. Highly recommended.

1. if logic is important to folks, then forget this book because the entire premise, at least from a theological standpoint, just doesn't make any sense. 2. with that being said, if the above isn't a problem (and in many respects why should it be because this is a work of fiction), then this book should appeal or at least be fairly entertaining to most folks. the dark and demonic aspects as well as some crude scenes may be disturbing to some, all in all, a very well written book and as a result--> very engaging and entertaining.

1. I'm not going to judge this book to harshly because it is a decent book. But more importantly, this is my first Griffin book. I'm going to assume that anyone with this guy's staying power has to have some substance behind all of his books. 2. The main problem I had with this book (which can be taken as a complement) was that it ended abruptly. I wanted to learn more about subsequent events etc... Just in case there was another book to pick up after this one, I checked WEB Griffin's website--> it appears that this is the latest or last book in the USMC series. 3. Anyway, with all of the books this guy has written as well his reputation, I'll at least try 1-2 more books, but this one was average from my point of view.

	K-19 - The Widowmaker

1. I'm not an expert into the actual historical events that took place but via the various reviews on this movie, this movie is another in a long list of Hollywood movies in which the "based on a true story" idea is extended beyond reality. 2. With the above being said, I can accept the semi-fictional account and just sit down for a good movie, but the problem with this film is that it's just not that good of a movie in the first place. Ultimately, Harrison Ford's portrayal of the Capt of the sub is just lousy and unconvincing. 3. Anyway, it's decent enough to rent, but nothing beyond that. For a good sub movie that actually written and acted well--> go for the classic Hunt for Red Oct.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but the overall premise, the acting--> it's just a little too phony vs over the top. 2. Anyway, I know it's a movie--> ie fantasy and thus it's not bad for pure entertainment, but nothing more.

1. Other's have written at length regarding the various merits of this movie--> I'm just seconding what many others have already noted--> this is a very good movie, with little faults. It should be well worth most folks time / energy.

1. N. Sparks is one of those folks who has become so successful that it's probably a double-edged sword in that his publisher expects him to crank out novel after novel... with the same formulaic material that has made him successful. 2. Thus, if you're expecting and wanting another typical N. Sparks book--> this will probably do the job. If you want some growth and originality; forget it. 3. As I've noted in another review, I think his best book is his autobiographical book: Three Weeks with my Brother. An amazing book and nonfiction of all things.

1. I like Steve Carrell, but just based on the trailers, I thought this movie was going to be a little too silly or dumb in its humor. 2. Bottomline: a great cast of characters, well acted, good story line and smart / funny humor. Well done.
