 | Canon Pixma MX850 Office All-In-One Printer |
 | "Home office printer" | 2009-10-21 |
I bought this printer last June and used it as the primary printer/scanner in the home office. My setup includes a Windows 7 PC, Snow Leopard Mac, and XP machine. Canon makes it easy to download drivers for all operating systems on their support site. Hands down, it is the best personal-grade multifunction I've ever used and the only real issue I've had is the ink use. I've set the printer to minimize ink usage by default. My usage still justifies 5 black tank replacements and 2 color tank replacements last year. YMMV. I assume this is on par with most inkjets and will increase considerably if you print lots of photos.
Scan functionality is also important to me and this handles scanning very well. Both quality, speed, and ability to feed up to 35 pages at a time are top notch.
For a shared printer/scanner, having network connectivity is important. Configuring the Windows machines for network use was easier than with the Mac, but after everything was set, I've had no problems with it. For home office use, the MX850 has been excellent.

 | Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset with Multipoint Technology |
 | "Good value" | 2009-08-03 |
Have been using the Voyager 510 with both an iPhone (personal) and Motorola Razor (work) for about a week. The headset fits comfortably and snug around the ear. The mic can also be adjusted slightly. I've tested in different conditions with consistently strong results. Both incoming and outgoing sound quality seem very good. Battery life and ambient noise cancellation could be better, but for less than $40 USD, this is a very good buy for most users.

 | Eureka 4870GZ Boss Smart-Vac Upright Vacuum - Red Fleck |
 | "Quality vacuum for the price" | 2009-05-31 |
I've had this vacuum for about 14 months and have no complaints. It's not light, but most uprights in this category are not. I have no problems maneuvering this thing around on carpet/hardwood. I am still impressed with its suction power! Great for picking up loose hairs, food, and dust. I use it about once a week and have only had to change out bags every few months. A good buy at this price and recommended.

 | Hi-speed USB 2.0 4-PORT Hub |
 | "Power Issues" | 2007-11-05 |
Many USB hubs are self powered - that means they draw all of the electricity they need in order to operate from the USB cable you connect from your computer to the hub. This USB hub actually has a power supply, yet it sporadically shuts off due to "strain on the hub" i.e. plugging in too many self-powered items which requires you to restart your computer before it will recognize the hub again. To put this into perspective, my setup includes a USB keyboard, USB CF card reader, and USB2 HD with power source. I occasionally use the top-loading port for my thumb drive. I found out later that this hub maxes out at 2 devices without a power adapter. Needless to say, I never thought I'd have power issues with this hub. I've had this thing for over two years and this is the only real complaint.
