![]() | "Watery and lousy..." | 2009-03-03 |
| I'm a huge fan of almost every variety of hot beverages the Tassimo makes... this is not one of them. If you make a full cup, it tastes very lackluster and watery. The head of foam is very thin and disappears very quickly. Both of these problems can be improved by making a smaller cup, but even so, it still doesn't hold a candle to other flavors. If you want a GREAT cup of Tassimo crema, go for the Mastro Lorenzo Crema. HUGE improvement in taste, and the foam is nice and thick. Tassimo makes lots of great drinks... but skip this one. | ||

![]() | "A quick comparo with the Braun Pulsonic..." | 2008-09-23 |
| If you're an intelligent shopper you're doing some research comparing different shavers and brands. You probably read all of the bad reviews of the new Norelco shavers, and now you're probably between two shavers: the Panasonic ES8109S, and the Braun Pulsonic 7 series.br /br /They're both great shavers, and in the end you'll be pretty happy with both. But the Panasonic has several key advantages for you to consider...br /br /1) Braun's "superior" pulsonic technology makes 10,000 strokes. Panasonic's makes 13,000, for shaving, and a blistering 17,000 for cleaning purposes.br /2) Braun's retail price is over twice that of Panasonic's.br /3) Braun's shaver CANNOT be used in the shower. The 8109S can. In fact, it's fully immersible, if you feel like shaving underwater! :pbr /4) Braun's foil is straight, with a flexible head. The Panasonic's head is also flexible, but has a convex foil, which makes shaving under the neck much easier.br /5) Both have a nifty cleaning mechanism for their shavers. To the best of my knowledge, the only way the Braun dries the shaver is with a heating element. The Panasonic not only dries your shaver with heat, but also a fan to really air it out. My shaver is bone dry once the drying cycle is over. Also, the cleaning solution for the Panasonic is alcohol-free, which prevents breakdown of plastics and water seals.br /br /br /... I've owned three Norelco wet/dry shavers, and this is my third Panasonic. I gave the offering from Braun a hard look, but already knowing what kind of quality to expect from Panasonic for half the price, I decided shelling out crazy money for the Pulsonic just wasn't worth it. In the end, I not only saved money, but got my hands on a real gem of a shaver: easily the best I've ever owned, and the closest shave I've ever had. I highly recommend using this shaver with a glycerin-based shaving gel, such as those by Gilette or Nivea with MicroTec. Hands down, the closest shave you'll ever get in such a short amount of time. | ||
| Atlas of Allergic Diseases | ||
![]() | "Excellent first study... and you'll come back to it again and again..." | 2008-09-17 |
| I'm a fellow in allergy/immunology, and I initially found it quite difficult to dive into all the different nooks and crannies of our specialty. It's very easy to get lost in all of it. As a visual learner and "big picture" kind of guy, I struggled drinking from the proverbial fire hose reading Middleton's and Janeway/Abbas... why wasn't this stuff sinking in? So naturally I did what any other fool would have done, and sought out another BOOK, as if that would really help.
As I searched Amazon for books, I came across this one... an atlas? For allergy? As Dr. Lieberman states in the introduction to this book, I never really imagined allergy to be a visual specialty, but indeed you will find quickly as you read this book that it is! This atlas does not replace my main texts... but it has yet to fail me when I have had trouble grasping a complex concept and needed a book to break it down for me. This book sifts through the extraneous details and shows you: "this is the main gist of eosinophil migration," or "here is a simplified chapter breaking down most of the laboratory immunology you will need to know." With contributions from huge names in our specialty, the chapters are well-written, in easy-to-follow language, and quite informative. And of course, there are excellent full-color photographs of all kinds of skin/mucosal findings, allergens, physical findings, and pathway schematics that we will encounter in everyday (and not-so-everyday) practice. The only thing I would caution on is that this book's version is from 2005, which means for the more academic discussions on immunology, this book might be slightly dated. But overall it will remain an extremely useful tool for years to come. I am supremely happy with my purchase. If you're a visual learner, I highly recommended this book.

![]() | "Great songs and sound quality, though DVD-surround mix was a bit slapdash" | 2008-03-08 |
| I was really looking forward to receiving this disc. Although I think he wails for a little too long in some of his solos, I have to admit Santana is one talented musician.
I won't go into each song individually as some reviewers have done here. I personally believe you already know the songs you're getting when you're buying in this format... perhaps you own the CD / have heard the songs before, and you want to hear it in a new light. Well, overall the songs are great. They really are. Santana brought in great talent to accompany him, and I do NOT see it as a sell-out album, like some people have said here. True, this makes this album more "poppish" than previous works, but there are still many tracks that are true to his old style. That said, I was expecting a little more from this DVD surround mix. The sound quality itself is great - something we demand from these type of discs. And you DO get the sense that you're being enveloped by sound better than the CD. But it's the mixing itself seems like it was lazily done. The rear channels weren't utilized for much more than accentuating the occasional piano track or reverb. Would I still recommend this disc? Yes, I would. Would I recommend this format? I would, solely based on the fact that it sounds cleaner and crisper than the audio CD version. Just know that the "surround" that's being advertised is more from reverb than anything else.

![]() | "COME ON, AMAZON!! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?!" | 2006-04-18 |
| I'd love to divulge my opinion on this product, if Amazon.com would hurry up and SHIP IT to me! I ordered this product on March 13. Today is April 18, and it has yet to even be SHIPPED. This is absolutely ridiculous. The only compensation offered in return for this lunacy is my chance to "approve" this delay. No, I DON'T approve of this delay, but what other choice do I have?! I'VE BEEN WAITING A MONTH!!!! | ||
